Hey guys,
I was searching around for a Star Wars: The Old Republic Community and was unable to find one, so I decided to start one.
The communities main purpose is the discussion of news about the upcoming MMO, as well as discussion about currently revealed gameplay features and what you would like to see them do. What you like/dislike, etc.
If you guys have any suggestions or questions feel free to direct them my way.
I'll be posting this to several other KOTOR/Star Wars related comms.

Summary: The Echani handmaiden finds a pleasant distraction in a certain Iridonian technician’s perplexing company.
Just how exactly Brianna found herself on the floor in the garage with her robes, his clothes and half a dozen hydrospanners scattered around and underneath her she couldn’t quite remember, but one thing Brianna did know was that she had to extract herself from under the warm, hard body above hers.

Gosh, I haven't been here in a while have I? Excuse the next couple of posts - I didn't want to blind you with one long post, so I'm chopping them up a bit.
I'd be absolutely thrilled for con-crit, just as long as you bear in mind that I haven't written fan fic in just over two years, so I know these will be a tad... scratchy, for want of a better word. In any case, they are all over at another journal, so these are fake cuts. :)

Summary: Carth Onasi’s patience for Revan’s return is wearing thin and in an effort to distract himself he finds solace in alcohol. Mission, ever the helper, attempts to keep Carth’s demons at bay.

Ummm . . . hi, peoples! I'm new to this place -heck, new to Star Wars, if it comes to that. I only got involved when I had nothing better to do -then promptly put my life on hold for a month while I devoured both games. Afterwards . . . well, it felt empty. And really annoying, because the ending could have been so much Win. So *shrugs* I wrote fanfic.
You can start reading here to avoid my life story. I wrote a fic. Hope I didn't mess it up too badly -it just gives me a bit of closure. If anyone likes it, I'll post my pre-Malachor V Revan and Exile fic I'm still polishing.

Hullo. I've been hanging around here for a little bit, decided to join, because you all look like marvelous people. I'm Kitty, and I write and draw a bit here and there. Wonderful to meet you all, hope to have a good time here. Sorry for the shortness, I've never really been one for long introductions.
I pulled this together in about an hour, it wasn't all that easy, for me atleast, because I've never done that before. It came out okay, but it's a pain to make a shilouette out of a cruddy screenshot.
You all know that I don't own KotOR or iPod. They are owned by Bioware, Lucas Arts, George Lucas and Apple.

I know a lot of you may have seen these before but I've just finished overhauling 9 LJ-comm related KOTOR drabble/ficlets by editing typos, grammatical mistakes, etc (I won't be suprised if I've missed some), and thought I'd link you back to them since they are now over at a different journal. They can now be found at albionix.
If anyone would like to take time out to read them, I could do with some con-crit. These were written between a year and three years ago, but I'm trying desperately to get back in to fandom and would be interested to see what people think. Here is a quick summary so as not to get my butt kicked by the lovely Mia. ;)
"Like a Dual Personality" (Female Revan)
#28 - Spider: Revan watched calmly as the insect excavated itself from the Trayus stonework, clambering interestingly up her thigh and finally on to her palm; she considered it for a moment, before slowly closing her hand in to a fist…
"As the Stars Draw Near" (Visas Marr)
#26 - Refrain: I know instinctively that it would not take much for me to rip her treacherous body apart piece by piece and yet I hold back… She and I are the same in a sick sense; she sees through the Force like I do, she has an inescapable darkness within herself that I have too and she, like me, depends on the Exile with every fibre of her being… I cannot punish her for the same imperfections as my own.

So I've gone and put in a claim for Mical at 10_whores . (Even though Mical is pretty much as unwhorish as you can get.) I quite like Mical, and I'm often irritated at the way fandom seems to treat him like a little kid. Not to mention that crack is fun.
I just finished my first one, and I'd appreciate some crit on it (as my KOTOR muses have been aggravatingly silent for the past few months).

Because of the time concerns of the editors of kotor_holo, there are going to be some big changes in the newsletter. ![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) albur_lily, who created it, has had to step down from its management and has given it over to me.
Since nobody responded to our request for more editors, the Holo is going to become a weekly newsletter updating on Saturdays. Because of the huge volume of work that the KFM manages to put out, it would be impossible for me to continue updates the way they are done now. Instead, the Holo will focus primarily on LJ content.
My plan is to update with LJ content, YouTube, and official news (relating to the comics, the Restoration Project, and that third game we keep on waiting for), plus KFM/FF.net stories that are posted in the comments. However, if there's anything you would like to see, please let me know. :) |

I wrote this in August, and just found it again. I'd like to get it up to KFM... but I don't think it's at the level where I'd want it published. Canderous seems too... sappy and non-Canderous-like, and Bastila isn't as fiery as I normally like her to be. So... crit please? Anything makes it better!

| KOTOR Fancomic |

So I finished the first episode of a new KOTOR fancomic :D
It's a Female Revan-centric, Post-Knights of the Old Republic I story (I can see the Carth-haters backing away :D); It's more of a slice-of-life tale rather than a lightsaber-swinging one, so there not much action...for now. Currently it's untitled...I'lll figure one out in due time.

As a general reminder the info page, as all other communities throughout livejournal, houses the rules. These are important and need to be browsed at before you post anything.
I am less inclined to be nice about this when it is a repeated incident.
On another note, I am always glad to see people reading and commenting on stories. We have 300+ people watching kotorfanmedia and it's always sad to see some works go without comments. I don't mean to discourage commenting, especially from constructive criticism, but I'd like to keep it to a tone that is respectful of all members. And that also goes for the person writing the work, if someone is commenting do not respond in a disrespectful fashion back.
Contact me if there is a problem and I will deal with it. My contact information is on the information page of kotorfanmedia as well as the rules, which are invaluable. I try to be nice and understanding, but if you don't read the rules I will be more than mildly irritable.
And please think about the kind of comments you want on your piece, if you really don't want someone going over your grammar or ideas with suggestions on how to improve (which is your prerogative) then please just mark that on your post before the cut and I am sure you will not receive the kind of criticism you're not adept to.
That's all I have to say on the matter. |

So I'm writing a fic set just after the revelation on the Leviathan. I always thought Carth's response to the reveal was a bit on the sterile side, so I decided to write it differently, show what I thought would have been an appropriate response.
I will warn you, if you don't like seeing a lot of anger and rage in a fic, this may not be the nibble for you. (And a bit of doubt here. I had written this out once, but then my computer overheated and shut itself down, taking about 3 pages of writing with it. *grumblegrumble*)

| kotor_holo Fiction Rating System - [posted with permission] |

As some of you will have noticed, kotor_holo has been pretty slack lately. This is because of:
1 - Time difficulties that I and a few of the other editors have been encountering. kotor_holo is currently going through a system re-vamp, and part of that includes hiring more editors. Please take a look at this post if you are interested.
2 - Confusion about how to set up entries. This is specific to fiction ratings and how to apply them, and this is where I was hoping that I could get some input from you, the people who we should be doing a much better job of providing a fanservice to.
We currently use Fanfiction.Net, KotorFanMedia and the various Livejournal communities/users to source fan fiction. Whereas some have a clear fiction rating, others such as our 'mothership' KFM do not because of their PG-13 policy. Therefore, no content on the site is expected to exceed PG-13 and as such, has no reason to be catergorised in to ratings. Which is fine, of course it is. But this also makes it difficult to apply an appropriate fiction rating at kotor_holo. As editors, it is expected of us to read through every piece of fiction but, let us please be honest here, that isn't always possible. Not everyone has the time or the willpower to read through each fic, especially so if there are more than ten in an evening.
We also have the problem of whether to alert to fics of a sexual nature, whether to alert to slash (be there any heavy duty action or not). Those who write slash may be offended if we feel the need to tag it as such, and others will be offended that we didn't. We have the option of noting down pairings, which characters feature in a certain chapter and of course, the mammoth task of deciphering if the fic is a male Revan/Exile, female Revan/Exile, DS, LS, etc. The list can go on and on and on and on... Of course, stating that the fic is K-Comic, Pre-K1, K1, Pre-K2, and so forth is a given. Another question that has come up, is if we should post new fiction only, or updated fiction also.
Some of you may think at first thought that it can't be that hard to rate a fic. Well, I have to say, that in such a diverse and not always LJ-centric newsletter that it can be. Very, at times. Especially if the rating isn't already provided for us.
I come here asking for advice about how you as fans wish to see the way we rate the fan fiction at kotor_holo. I would appreciate all input possible that you could give me since this is a fanservice we offer you and it's about darn time we got it right. |
