INTRODUCTION
Welcome to Korean Cinema, a community for people to come together and talk about anything that has to do with Korean movies. It's pretty open, so feel free to post film reviews, news or upcoming projects, discuss ideas on casting or directors, share fanworks, or even your opinions on American remakes! Anyone is welcomed to join, even lurkers (but frequent posters are the backbone of any community). Hopefully this will be a good place for new fans to learn and get recommendations, and veterans in foreign films to reflect and chat about their favorites. Enjoy, and thank you for visiting! The community was created by jungle_of_stars and is moderated by
hlwar (formerly nozomu_bunny). Please direct any questions to them.
RULES
(1) This is a community for Korean MOVIES. If you'd like to talk about your favorite Korean TV dramas or Kpop singers, please visitkdramas or
kpop instead. Please keep threads on topic.
(2) It is encouraged that you introduce yourself to the community when you join. We like to meet new faces and keep the community as active as possible! See this thread for a brief member survey.
(3) Be nice to each other! There's a difference between "heated debates" and "flame wars". If you cannot get along with a group of people in a courteous and open-minded way, then please refrain from posting. Name-calling is definitely not allowed, and please watch your language! Moderators reserve the right to delete any entries or comments they feel may be offensive or provoking.
(4) If you post reviews with spoilers, it's appreciated you hide them behind lj-cuts, or at least clearly mark such content. The same goes for material that goes above the PG-13 rating or for large graphics. Thanks!
(5) Image and graphic posts are welcomed (icons, layouts, movie stills, etc.) however if you share anything that you did not create, scan or capture yourself, make sure you credit the original source. No stealing, please! Do not hotlink to images housed on webspaces that are not your own.
(6) Promoting communities is allowed as long as it is for a relevant or like subject! If you would like to affiliate, please use the email above to contact the mods.
REVIEWS
Our Memories section (link located above) houses reviews posted by members and serves as a small directory of available Korean titles. They are separated by two categories:
Movie reviews: These are posts that not only contain the reviewer's opinion of the film, but also include a general synopsis, a rundown of the primary characters, and some basic stats such as cast and crew. Overall the best source if you want to learn about different titles.
Movie analysis: Posts that have an introspective look at a certain movie, but without any details on the story or format. These are good references if you only want your interest piqued by someone else's thoughtful ideas and questions.
The mods will update the Memories listing as new reviews are posted. Anyone and everyone is welcomed to post their thoughts on any Korean movies they've seen, and repeat reviews are encouraged! I would also like to add that you do NOT have to be a professional writer or format your reviews -- please keep our community alive by posting anything at all regarding a K-film, even if it's just two sentences of how much you enjoyed a title, or 100 screen captures of your favorite actor or actress! Everything is welcomed!
