Community Profile

A collage (From the French: coller, to stick) is a work of art, primarily in the visual arts, made from an assemblage of different forms, thus creating a new whole. Use of this technique made its dramatic appearance among oil paintings in the early 20th century as an art form of groundbreaking novelty.

Kollage Klub is for artists looking for community, novelty and a "pure" art experience without the inherent pressures of their "real" work. Kollage Klub is also for people who enjoy getting packages in the mail.

Here's how it works;

1. You create a collage on some sort of substantial base. (cardboard, card stock, bristol board, etc.) Sign and date the back.

2. Kollage Klub will send you a list providing the names and addresses of all its members. You will send your collage to a person on this list. Your next collage will go to the next person on the list, etc.
The person who recieves your collage will add to it and return it to you.

3. Since your name also appears on the list, you will start to receive collages from other artists.

4. When collages are returned to you, save them, and keep them in good contition. We'll do a show or book at some point!

5. If you receive one you love, post it in this community!

THE RULES

1.You must make and send at least 2 collages per month. You can do 50 a day if you like, but you must commit to make 1 collage every 2 weeks. (They don't have to be complex, or too focused on craftsmanship. Just do it!)

2. Your collages must be "real". This means using found objects, your own drawing, paint, etc. Please no computer generated work. Kollage Klub wants you to get your hands "dirty".

3. Let us know if you want to leave so we can keep the list up to date.

4. Collages should be sized to fit in whatever sized envelope you choose. PLEASE, NO FOLDING! If it doesn't fit, chop it off or get a bigger envelope.
