Professional or Business Gyaru?
by call_me_nuveena ([info]call_me_nuveena)

Hi there! I've been watching the gyaru LJ communities for some time now, and I'm very interested in the fashion. Problem is this: I work for an insurance company in a corporate office, and we have a dress code. I can't exactly wear miniskirts or shorts or super-high heels to work, and my makeup has to be "tasteful."  I also can't really afford to have two wardrobes, one for work and one for home, so nearly everything I buy is something I can wear to the office, otherwise I'd just do the gal look after-hours.  I don't mind spending good money on things I'll wear to work, though, since I like to look nice.

Now I don't think this will be a problem, because there are so many gyaru I've seen who look beautiful and polished and not tacky at all. But I'm having some trouble trying to figure out how to do this for myself and stay professional looking. Also, I'm 25, so I want to do something that doesn't make me look like I'm still trying to be a teenager, you know?  I'm still young enough to want to look cute, but not babyish if you get what I mean.  I figure the thousands of dollars in college debt, rent, bills, and other super-fun grown-up responsibilities alone make me too old to go around pretending I'm still 17.  (But why couldn't I have discovered this when I was still in high school or college?!  *wah*)

Any ideas about how to create a gyaru-inspired business look? If you help me, I promise to post pictures at [info]everyday_gyaru  when I've got this together and have something visual for you all to critique.

Some info about me: I have short hair, like Audrey Hepburn in Wait Until Dark (I hope you've seen that movie), but I am thinking about growing it out and getting extensions (it's just not in my budget right now).  I'm 5'8", so I prefer flats, but heels are cool too; I don't mind being tall.  I'm also *pale* and can't tan naturally or artificially because I have *very* sensitive skin.  I'm neither thin nor fat; I have an average build.

Wow, sounds like I'm trying to talk you all out of helping me, isn't it?  I promise I'm not!  I'm willing to modify!

I'm the youngest person in my office by fifteen years, and I'm afraid I'll start to look like my dowdy coworkers through osmosis if I don't do something soon!  HALP!

Thanks,
Nuveena

Hello my lovely dears.

I hope you don't mind that I as another question... I have my prom in 2 weeks from now and I want to wear a nice outfit. Do you have any styling suggestions?
I am thinking about a Hime inspired outfit, but I am not sure.
Is anybody selling something nice atm?

Lovely Greetings

Contouring and Hip-Hop Princesses

(Sorry! Too much questioning! Even though I do my makeup everyday, I don't know much besides what I always do!)

I've been hearing all about how we should contour, so I thought I should find out what it's all about.
I don't totally understand the concept of contouring or whether or not I need to.
I've only seen one contouring tutorial, but I'm not totally sure about how it would work with me since my nose and the girl's nose are completely different.

(I hate that when I use the camera, my makeup disappears)
Sorry!
I've only been trying gal makeup since last year, and I'm a bit inexperience when it comes to makeup and what suits my face.

Another question:

I'm going to dress hime for a very otaku-y reason. (Specifically for rapping a song from an anime in front of other otaku)
What are some things that I'll definitely need for himegyaru makeup? I need to make a checklist before I go out to buy anything!)

I figured I'd share this. They wanted one of my terrible old banba photos lol. Some of you may be interested. Also note this came via Flickr so if you already have a photo album there you should be able to participate more easily.

I am working on a citizen journalist report from Lady Li who wants to report on the growing influence of Manba and the Gyarusa outside of Japan.
This is the very visual style where I think your photos can really add to her piece - so if you can help, that would be very much appreciated.

Didn't notice a previous post on this, I hope its okay!

I'm heading to Hong Kong next week, and I know the fashion there is really Japanese inspired, so I was wondering if any of you girls had any good suggestions on where to go! So far I've found a few locations, like Mongkok and Tsim Sha Tsui, but was hoping I could get more suggestions.

Thanks in advance! ♥

[edit] So I'm back from HK, and it was really awesome!

Places I would recommend shopping at -
Langham Place & Argyle Center (awesome for cheap, trendy clothes) in Mongkok
Times Square and Sogo (Liz Lisa!) in Causeway Bay,
also there's a Peach John somewhere around Sogo, look out for it!
APM in Kwun Tong (if you have time)

As for Tsim Sha Tsui and other areas, afraid I can't help as I didn't have time to go (it was a really short trip).

Most of the malls were high brand stuff, but they did have quite a few unique boutiques, and yes there are malls EVERYWHERE, so overall it was a pretty fun shopping experience! :D

Thanks for all your help! ♥

Trip to Paris!

I'm sorry if this doesn't belong here, but I thought I should ask you stylish girls~ I'm headed to Paris next week, and I'm wondering if there's any particular place I should DEFINITELY go shopping at? My budget is somewhat limited, so I'm not really looking to shop the most expensive brands, but rather something moderately priced that can be incorporated into something gyaru-ish. Also, if there's any places to shop near Disneyland at ALL, I'm so interested.

On a second note, are there any purikura booths in Paris?

Also, if Paris gals would like to meet up or perhaps show me around Paris 2. June, it would be great to meet you!

I'm really interested in himegyaru &himekaji but i wanted to know is there a darker version, without so much pink as i'm not really a pink person and most of my wardrobe is dark.

Pictures and tips would be great.

thank you
