10:00 am - Synthrepairs.com : Korg Polysix
I’ve been hanging out with Steve Jones - he knows EVERY analogue synth (literally) inside-out)…he’s Australia’s most respected vintage synthesizer technician!
I have been following Steve around his workshop with a video camera and have put together a few little videos. In this video Steve talks about the common problems of the Korg PolySix.

12:25 am - For all of you who have last.fm
Last.fm Artist Community
... Of numerous recurring ideas of many social networks and p2p communities, one is to connect the artists and their audience, that is, to avail people to new art, thus extending the artists’ presence in the noosphere.
Since Last.fm is positioned as a catalyst for musical revolution, the above described idea is most certainly included and I see it necessary for artists themselves to take actions towards it; this was the primary reason for this community to be created.
If you are an artist who sees social networks as a way of self-promotion, you are most welcome to join this community.
If you are a listener who likes to discover new music, wish to contribute valuable artist connections, ir interested in reviewing, you are indeed welcome here as well.
If you are strictly a “scene” artist (e.g. idm, post-rock, emo, rap, trance, indie, black metal, bluegrass you name it), you are best advised to cling to your scene, which would be most effective for you, but not forbidden to join this community if you believe your music presents interest outside your scene.

09:44 am - New song by N3wT, Daydream
It wasnt multitracked, just a stereo live recording on an all hardware setup, so some of the mixes are a little off...nothing too bothersome though.
Hope you enjoy

Hey everyone, I'm completely green with everything that this community is about which is why I joined. I'm aware of what MIDI stands for and looked up what an oscillator is on Wikipedia once but overall I've found synth related things tough to get into. So I hope to learn a lot here. I play all sorts of instruments but don't have a lot of experience mixing them with computers aside from doing quick demos for my band so I'm here to absorb your wondrous knowledge.
I do have one question that I've been scouring the internet for answers and has probably been asked to death here, so I'm sorry in advance if it has. I have a M-Audio Oxygen8 V2 controller and I'm using it with garageband (which is a miserable experience in general) and while it works in a very basic way, I can't get any of the knobs to do anything. What I'd like to do is mess with the "Sync Modulation" and things like that while I play. Is that possible? So far I've tried a program called Enigma which looks useful but doesn't seem to actually change anything no matter what I upload. I just want to make some cool synth noises to accent some songs, is that too much for a guy to ask?
Thanks, sorry for the long-windedness and the possible repeat question
-Chris

Does anyone here own a Korg ER-1 MkII? I 've had mine for a few months now, and honestly I don't put it to much use because of a terrible latency problem. I'd estimate that when trying to sync it to other MIDI gear, it lags by as much as .20- .25 seconds. I have a Virus Indigo II and a Nord Lead 2x that I sync without issue. I tried replacing the ER's midi cable to no avail. Any suggestions?

I am a god damned synth geek. I love them. Right now, I'm currently working with a Korg MS2000B, Roland JP8080, Roland Juno-106, and a Korg Triton Le workstation. I have previously owned a Yamaha An1x, Korg MicroKorg, and an Alesis Micron. I have also used a Roland XP-80, Access Virus TI, Alesis Ion, and Korg Radias. Here is some of my music with the current synth setup.
Digital Sacrilege is dark, orchestral electro-industrial, which I like to refer to as either Electro-Noir or AggroTrance. It includes lots of strings, choruses, sometimes pianos and bells. However, it also utilizes the pounding, rapid fire beats and ripping, acidic synths of electro-industrial and EBM.
Area 51: This is a mix of house, goa, and psy trance. Very fun project, usually gets the giggles out of my system before producing some of my darker material.

04:38 am - old VST plug in that did Real time analyzing
I am trying to remeber a name of a plug in that was on the market around 1998 when I was a wee lad working at Guitar Center.
It was a VST audio plug in that did Real TIme Frequency Analyzing. What made this plug in great was the save feature where you could save a the analyzation of one song, and use that as a template on another song.
This was fun because you could tack a track that you liked the sound of, analyze it and use the template on an original song to get close to the same sound.
If no one knows the name of it, please suggest another software plug in that will do this.
12:17 am - to whom it may interest
the stage edition of the moog LP hath snuck out from the secrecy!
http://www.moogmusic.com/detail.php?mai
behold the beauty! looks like they'll be going for $1,250 retail as opposed to the tribute edition @ hundred bucks more. 's a nice price drop, and the thing is still gorgeous, love the new look. i 'spose people hoping for a more drastic price drop might be a little annoyed, but it's an incredible machine, totally worth it.
04:36 pm - New synth
Two questions:
1) Does anyone know where I can get voice chips for the Roland Juno 106? I had one replaced from Roland spares before the chips in Australia ran out, but need another three voices...
2) What is everyone's common idea of a good stage synth? It would need to be in the 500-1000 AU$ (times 1.5 for US)...lots of knobs, analogue or modelled, reliable and multitimbral a plus...for a electro-pop/rock-pop band.
Thankyou kindly!

12:22 pm - Help!
Hi guys, hope everyones ok.
I'm trying to get my music to a wider audience and want to start playing live... my band is lacking members but my music is a wall of sound but I've been trying to avoid the 'laptop band' route for months now. Besides I don't really need a laptop because I have a perfectly good desktop!
What I'm thinking is using a digital multitrack recorder, something small and portable like the boss BR-600, and then wacking a big compact flashcard in there, bouncing all the parts me and my musical collegues need to the tracks on there and running it through the PA.
Does this sound like a good idea or a recipe for disaster? Any horror stories trying this technique? Any recommendations on what else I can try? I've got a pretty flexible budget (I work in a pro audio store so get good staff rates on gear) so any recommendations any of you have would be fantastic! If anyone says laptop I may come at them with a rusty pen knife.
Cheers!
Matt
