I want to thank everyone for the advice I received on intarsia in the round. :)
However, I am going to use fair isle. I hear that is done in the round all the time and I think I prefer it over intarsia anyway.
Does anyone know how much different it would be to knit fair isle in the round with two circulars? I didn't know if it would be better to do one sock at a time with dpns for a fair isle project.
Thanks!

Hey y'all! Need a little help here!
Does anyone know how difficult (or easy) it would be to knit intarsia in the round?? My brother has asked that I make him Dallas Cowboys socks for Christmas. I just need to know if this is possible. Since there is argyle and stuff, I would think so...but what I need to know is the best way to do it.
Thanks!!

Hey y'all!
Ok, so I've been asked to make a felted hobo purse for a friend and she wants a "tie dye" look with Fall colors. Does anyone know of yarn that will knit/felt into a tie dye look? Or should I dye my own? I've never dyed anything, so I'm not sure how I would go about doing this and not making it look "striped"...if that makes sense. :)
Any suggestions would be much appreciated!!! Thanks so much!

I have just come to the sad, sad realization that the yarn I am using to work on Lucky from Stitch n' Bitch nation is discontinued. I am only done with the back and the right front side and nearing completion on the left front. I still have the two sleeves, the neckband, and the seaming to finish. If anyone anywhere has any skeins of this and wants to trade or sell them, please please please please contact me asap please. I can send check, money order, or paypal and will cover all shipping charges as well as pay for the yarn. The color is #7450-Violet, dye lot of no importance.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated!!

is this a bad idea? what kind of yarn should i use? cotton? cotton blend? any ideas at all?

I have Stitch n' Bitch and Stitch n Bitch Nation so far. Can any of you Knitwits recommend some more knitting books to add to my collection?
Also, I bought my first knitting magazine, Knitters a few months ago. It's pretty good. I bought Knit Simple a while ago. I like the patternsin it. Most of them are rated E for Easy, and the patterns are very versitale-they can work for any time of year. They're from the summer issue, and all the patterns are done in cotton. YAY!

I'm making a yoga mat bag for my sister, using the pattern from Stitch'n'bitch nation. The bag itself is done in "Diagonal Lace stitch" which I wrote down assuming I could find a pattern for that pretty easily on the internet. This is not the case.
Does anyone know what Diagonal Lace stitch is?
Thanks for the help!

I decided that with the complicated scarf I am knitting, I needed something simple and fairly quick on the needles as well, so I cast on a sideways scarf out of yarn I hate, but is nice and masculine. It is intended for my brother in law. Not the question of the day is: how wide should it be? I have currently got about 4-5 inches. I am using size 15 needles, it is nice and loopy, not tight at all, stretchy. I have no idea how long it is, though, lol.

Hiya! I am Luna Moody, and I am a beginning knitter. I have been knitting almost 2 years now (veeeeerrrrrryy slowly, admittedly.) and have very few knitters in my (real) life. So... I came looking for more. I have finally progressed to knitting something with a pattern to follow (other that a washcloth shawl: knit 2 yarn over, knit to the end of the row.) and I am feeling terribly proud of myself. I do have one question for you more experienced knitters though. All of the yarns I have used before have been cheap acrylics or cotton or some such. This time the yarn is 75% acrylic and 25% wool. Can I/ should I block it? "It" being the very basic cabled scarf I am trying (so far so good, Yay!) to knit.
Thanks in advance for your help, and I look forward to being active in this community.

Hello,
A while ago I went to the yarn shop and bought a lot of random yarn that now I have no idea what to do with. One of them is this Soft Opulence yarn (http://www.sullivans.net/viewProduct.cfm?prod=89060)that uses size 10mm needles and is 100% polyamide and the other is this Echant by Sierra Pacific Crafts taht is 79.5% acrylic, 18% mohair and 2.5% polyester and uses 6mm needles. Any idea what to make with those aside from scarves and hats or should I just try to get rid of the skeins?
Thanks a ton!
Ria

Hey y'all, fresh meat here. I really don't know anyone here or what in the world to post, so I'll introduce myself. Hi, I'm Emmy. Emmy is my nick-name. It use to be Ed because those are my initials, but in 188 day's I'm getting married and changing my last name to one that start's with an 'M'... so Ed kinda died. I have a little Doxie mix that I love to knit for, a fiancé who I love to knit for, and a really big family who I love to knit for. Speaking of knitting and since this is a knitting community, here's a little knitting bio: I've known how to knit for around 16-17 years. My aunt MJ started teaching me when I was around three. It took a summer or two to finally get the knit stitch down and I managed to make a very 'nice', off kilter, holey light blue thing-y. I knitted off and one for a while, then put my needles down for around three-and-a-half years (high school was sh*ty). My first semester of collage, I picked them back up and haven't put them down since. I did say that I knew how to knit at a very early age, but I didn't learn how to purl, k2tog, ssk, or any special techniques until three years ago. I have amazed others and myself with my ability to pick up on them so quickly. About the only technique I can't do is Fair Isle, mainly because Debby Stoller (Stitch n' Bitch authoress) scared me off from it.... but I'm going to learn it if it kills me, I just don't know when. My current WIPs are five pairs of mittens, or fittys and I call them, by Christmas. So far, I have one fitty done and half a cuff of its mate, so needless to say I need to get my ass in gear! Just one last thing. I've been looking for a skein of discontinued yarn for over a year now. It's Chunky USA by Lion Brand in Flag Blue. If anyone knows where I can get it…. or if anyone has a skein they are willing to part with, please let me know. Please?! Thanks for your time and happy knitting! Peace, Love, and Yarn! ~Emmy

I decided several weeks ago I wanted to learn how to knit. I did crochet from a pretty young age. My dad had some beginner kits in his store that he wasn't planning on selling and gave them to me. I did one hat and got hooked.
This is my 2nd knitting project. I didn't even know circular , and double pointed needles exsist before I decided to knit this hat. It wasn't as hard as I thought. I made this for my daughter who is going to be a year old in 9 days. Of course I did crochet the eyes and nose since I am more comfortable with that. I made the bows in other colors to switch them out depending on the outfit she is wearing.

So I'm already like 120 rows into making my very first scarf.. I'm using the knit 1 row, purl 1 row stitching, and at first it wasn't so bad but now it's just curling like all get out. Is there any way to make it stop curling, preferably after I'm done knitting it since I REALLY don't want to restart?! :p
also, any random scarf tips to make it look nice/professional would be helpful as well.. (:

This is my first post. I am 13, and I started knitting a year ago. I live in Wisconsin, and it is getting really cold, so i figured I could knit myself a hat. But, I can't find a pattern that is easy enough for me to knit. A good pattern would be knit on straight needles, and would not have cabling. The yarn I am planning on using is super fluffy. Thank you in advance.

so. I'm writing an essay for my English class on why knitters are nicer and cooler than non-knitters. It's going to be a humorous essay. Any suggestions on why we rock so much more than non-knitters?
