Knightmare.com has fallen under the control of a man named Mystara. Well, Alan actually, but "Mystara" is a much more interesting name.
The first of his changes taken the form of a shiny new forum, an upgrade from the old one. You should go and check it out. Please.

Ooo, first post of 2009. Happy New Year folks, hope it's kicked off to a rockage start.
Now then now then now then.
Previous entries on my own LJ have focused on Knightmare, the classic british kids TV show that took Zork and the format of the old 2D adventure games and subjected bewildered children to a virtual reality dungeon, complete with death, wit and fantastic fun. I also mentioned that there was a small but active fan group that was working on original audio productions set in that same storytelling world. Well, to co-incide with the tenth year anniversary of Knightmare.com, there's a few fun things for you to enjoy.
Firstly, a new audio play called Bolt to the Head
. This one was written by me, and it's heavily adapted from a classic comedy sketch by The Frantics. It's a small little piece that we had a lot of fun doing, and well worth a listen.
Secondly, the start of a new series of prose stories called The Fire and Ice Chronicles
. These are a series of prose stories set in the same time locked period of saxon/medieval England of the original TV series, and based upon characters and locations from the KM Surrounds roleplaying forum that I and others post on. The first story The Colour of Amber is set around the timeframe as the first audio play Famous for Retreating,
with the first five parts already released and the remaining parts to be uploaded in a week or so. This one's another collaborative effort, with fellow RPer and co-writer Ricky Temple and myself doing the first story and group leader Martin Odoni doing the second story Balance
, which is to be released around mid-january.
2009 is set to be very interesting indeed...

Hmmm. Seems rather dead... Oh well...
Here, found this a few years ago and just had to share. It's a spoof episode of the classic kids TV show, 'KNIGHTMARE'.

As part on the channel's "Children's TV on trial" series, Knightmare looks set to feature on their look back at programmes of the 80s later on this week. It might be worth checking out not only just for Knightmare, but for any other of your favourite programmes during that decade as well!
Children's TV on Trial: The 1980s
BBC Four, Wed 30 May, 21:00-22:00. Repeats: Thu 31 May, 00:00-01:00, 03:00-04:00

A couple of weeks ago I found this fantastic track by a London four-piece act (despite the name) called Bolt Action Five. Tree Friend Tree Foe is a tribute to Knightmare with numerous references to the show within its lyrics, and the single was actually released as a limited edition vinyl release on the 19th March this year.
You can have a listen to "Tree Friend Tree Foe" by clicking on the link below:

Also worth checking out are Bolt Action Five's Myspace (contains Dan Le Sac remix plus lyrics) and </br>BAF Soundsystem (a couple of additional remixes).
Be you tree friend or tree foe, until next time watchers....

Knightmare/Editors Song Parody

A variaiton of one of my current favourite songs, but instead using Knightmare's orignal Life Force as the focus for it's lyrics.
( Knightmare/Editors - Life Force/All Sparks )
Some of you may remember Editors' "All Sparks" as the instrumental version recently featured in the closing credits of ITV1's Primeval. You can hear the original song and read the original lyrics by clicking the relevant lyrics.
I will try and keep this community updated with Knightmare themed stuff on a more regular basis (possibly monthly) from now on. In the meantime, if you have your own fan fiction/art or anything else that's related to the programme and would like to share it, please do feel free to post it here. News of course is always welcome as well. As the Knightmare forum have recently pointed out, this year marks the 20th anniversary of Knightmare's debut on our TV screens, so the more ideas and themes we can come up with the better!
Until next time watchers....

So they're re-showing some Knightmare on Challenge at the moment, at 3am (thank God for Sky Plus!). In reference to the previous post, this seems to be the series where Lord Fear starts to reach his hand into the screens where the dungeoneers are and tries to grab hold of them...I'm a little shocked to find I still get a little tense, a little edgy, when the dungeoneers don't hurry themselves to do something about it! So I guess when I was younger I must have found that bit to be scary.
Ok, rambled off there, but just wanted to let any unsuspecting fans know that Knightmare was back on the TV for a little while at least - even though Pickle is in it! :D

Anything relating to Knightmare is more than welcome to be discussed here, so wallow in the nostalgia and fun of one the finest children's TV programmes there ever was, and please do make your own contributions here in the meantime.
The path lies that way watchers, now get ready to begin, for the quest is on....
