Just to let you know, I will be locking down/deleting this community VERY VERY SOON. Like, 24 hours soon. So gather up your jackets and move on to the exits, as Semisonic sings, I hope you have found a friend. If you're still interested in tracking my writing, that'd be the place.

    Notice of permanent hiatus
    Hello lovely people.

    I'll cut to the chase.

All of my fanfiction is going on permanent hiatus. I haven't posted for almost two years and haven't had any real desire to. If I could magically conjure up the time, dedication, and hard work it takes to finish those projects I would, if only to keep from disappointing the people who are still waiting.

There will be notices posted wherever WDMC or Itsudemo are archived, including fanfiction.net. In a few days I'll be freezing the Yahoo group so that no one can post, but I'll leave membership open in case someone wants to peruse the archives or uploaded files. This community will screen all replies, and possibly be deleted.

I'm sorry to end it like this, but it just seemed better than leaving everything up in the air. I will miss this terribly. I loved hearing from everyone; you have all made me so happy and given me so much encouragement. Words cannot describe my gratitude.

    Wishing you all the best,

    KL Morgan

    Did you miss me?
[info]dmacabre (I know her only as a sweet person, not reading much fanfic recently, but everyone and their MOTHER has insisted I read her "End of Days," so you should read it, too) finally got her own LJ account, and her updates answering reviews have reminded me I... haven't done that. In a long time.

Picture me wincing and cringing apologetically, yeah?

Currently it's my last day at my present job, but since my department's moving buildings there's nothing for me to do... so I have time to start that process. ;) See? Work is good for something!

Okay, contrary to usual, I'll be starting with the newest reviews and working my way down. Mostly because some of these reviews are OLD, and I'm not sure if the reviewers are even keeping track of me anymore...

Oh, and someone pointed out to me it would be easier for reviewers to understand my replies if I copied and pasted their initial statements into my own. That's probably true, but I have to beg off: my tendinitis springs from working the mouse, not typing, so any time NOT spent clicking and dragging and clicking again is a good thing. Hope you can forgive the inconvenience.

In response to many, many reviews: No, What Dreams Must Come will not be updating soon. Sorry to dissappoint. I might be posting non-cannonical tidbits and such in the interim here, on this journal, but new chapters will be a while coming. If you sign up for my Yahoo group but don't want to get daily emails or have to check the forums, request to receive SPECIAL NOTICES. I'm the only one who sends them, and only when I have new chapters. That'll let you know right away.

Another general response: every now and again I'll get a bevvy of questions in response to something one of the characters said. For example, Roksana kept insisting Jareth loved her when, in AFOD, he stated himself he'd never been in love before. A lot of people were confused.

The truth is this: never trust anything my characters say.

That doesn't mean they're lying. Each of them is speaking from their own perception of things. That doesn't mean the things they're saying are necessarily false, or the things they expect won't happen -- but it doesn't mean they will happen, either. You're just getting a glimpse of their reality.

For instance -- when Jareth proclaimed the Goblin King was dead, all that means is he really doesn't want to be the Goblin King anymore. Dialogue rarely has direct bearing on the story, just on the evolution/choices of the character.

    Okay, onto the good stuff.

Replies for WHAT DREAMS MUST COME. )

So I warned everyone that I was working on an original project and that was why I was neglecting my fanfic... and that's still why. It happens sometimes. It happened the other way around four years ago -- all my original stuff got shoved to the side with the absolute need to write "Forfeit." It's just happening the other way around, now. But I don't want everyone to think I've abandoned them completely, so... tidbits. Eventually. Promise.

My LJ has been opened up again, as I've graduated college and mellowed considerably without pending graduation breathing down my neck. Come visit me there if you like!

Today I learned you shouldn't listen to Queen at work. It leads to much air-punching and mouthing "YEAH!", which eventually draws attention from co-workers. Oops.

WDMC 8 Update and an announcement
    Hey guys!

Okay, first of all, hope you enjoyed the update (yes, there is one -- go look). Second, I hope those of you who were able to attend the Labyrinth of Jareth had a great time -- I had a blast.

    Now the not-so-fun stuff.

After I post Chapter Nine -- the end of Part One of WMDC -- I'll be taking a hiatus. I can see the confused look in some people's eyes already, the look of "what was the eleven months between chapters Five and Six?" And although I feel like the whiny kid guarding the soccer goal, I have to say: that didn't count. The entire time I was thinking, planning, writing, and re-writing WDMC chapters and story outlines; I just wasn't posting chapters for a myriad of reasons, including summer school, lack of computer access, being in another country, blah blah blah blah.

The truth is, it's not that I don't WANT to continue posting WDMC. But the motivation doesn't seem to be there, recently -- it's gotten harder and harder to concentrate on writing, editing, and posting new material. And I'm beginning to fear that I might be a little burnt out; that four consecutive years of writing and brainstorming the same characters (even the same interpretation of said characters) has worn me down. I've seen it happen to too many people, fanfic and original authors alike, and I just want to avoid that. I love this story, I love the characters, I love the plot outlines I've spent so much time mulling over. And I just don't want to lose the joy that comes from all of that because I've never taken a break from it.

So I'll be taking a few months off (nothing like the year of silence, I promise). Two or three at least, and then I'll see where I am on picking up WDMC again. Which doesn't mean I'll be MIA during that time. I DO want to spend that time on an original project I've been planning for a while, but I'll probably check in from time to time with WDMC "director's cut" tidbits or fanfic for other fandoms. Watch this community for update notices.

    Hmmmm, what else?

    Nope, that's it.

Apologies -- I won't be updating this weekend. I forgot I have a family event to attend. I'll be back on Sunday, and I hope to have something by Monday... feel free to poke me if not. ;)

Oh, and I keep forgetting: [info]merona is a spectacular icon/graphics artist, and recently she's been honoring me with icons inspired my WDMC in her [info]journalpretties. (And I truly am honored.) Specific entries for What Dreams Must Come found here and here.

    Okay!

Am home, am graduated! *throws confetti* Am yet to be gainfully employed for the summer. Working on it.

[info]saxonny is visiting me this weekend, hopefully her presence will guilt me into finishing Chapter Eight (five pages down! really!) and touching up Nine and Ten for beta-ing.

In other news? Never unpack your books/cds/dvds/computer first. Because then you end up with a suitcase full of dirty laundry strewn across your room, thinking, hey, I've done everything important. I can live like this!

    And you really can't. *facepalm*

Updated to Chapter Seven a few days earlier than originally intended for personal reasons. Apologies to the people who didn't get back to me before I did -- I'm still, of course, absolutely rabid to hear your detailed impressions. Don't think I'm not.

    In other AIM randomness:

    [info]squeezystan: A new chapter?
[info]squeezystan: As in...the 2nd one in recent weeks? Or is this a different story?
[info]klmorgan: .... you can't see it, but i'm sticking my tongue out at you SO HARD my eyes are crossed
[info]klmorgan: and yes, it's the same story, you wench

That goes for all of you. Yeah, you. You think I don't see you, giggling in the back? My tongue's out for you, too, smartass.

...I love you guys way too much.

I'm not quite done replying to reviews, and I'm still waiting to hear back from a few people on their impressions on it, but I think I'll be posting Chapter Seven sometime tonight or tomorrow morning. Only because, in all honesty, the soul-stealingly gorgeous and talented and magnificent Lady Serade will be leaving soon for London, and I want it to be available for her to read before we meet up. Behold, I am my friends' bitch. ;)

In other randomness, I'm no longer a The Man Who Fell To Earth virgin. My roommate rented the video and is deflowerwing me as I type.

... merciful crumpets, this is a strange flick.

    YES!

Okay. Have got a beta-reader for Seven -- the third one thus far, as mine drop off the face of the earth as soon as I send them an email attachment. Let's hope Sabrina isn't eaten by grues as well.

Eight, sadly, is still not finished. I hope to make some progress in the next couple of weeks to have it ready on time, but no one hold their breath. If I can ace my finals, turn in my papers, arrange my graduation via email, move back to the States without loosing anything, AND update my fanfiction in the next three weeks, I'm demanding a Queen of Multitasking Crown.

In other drabbles, I have missed Sabrina madly and am so glad I/she am/is back. Because she asks the kind of questions that make me drum up long, complicated answers and force me to examine my ideas a bit closer.

Cut because it's long, and slightly spoiler-ish; though not really. )

Posted because I think it's an interesting topic (which is why I'm playing with it in WDMC). If you have something to add or draw my attention to, feel free.

... in other randomness, this verse makes me think of Jareth.

    "Darling, stop confusing me
    with your wishful thinking,
    hopeful embraces...
    Don't you understand?
I have to go through this
I belong to here where no-one cares
    and no-one loves..."

Despite not hearing back from anyone, I've gone with the classic response of "bugger this for a game of soldiers."

    And updated.

I take full credit for any resulting sloppiness, and yes, feel free to come and talk to me about that or any confusion it gave you.

    I just wanted to move.

While I'm waiting to hear from either [info]silverdime or [info]saxonny, I'd just like to announce I've joined DIGITAL QUILL, a (relatively) new fanfiction archive. And considering the company I'm keeping there, I couldn't be happier!

    (Go, shoo, check them out.)

    Look, an actual update.

Six and Seven are both done and beta'd, though Sax is helping me give Six another look-see since I suspect it contains Suck. And we do not want Suck in our chapters, oh no.

I will update as soon as she gets back to me, barring any extensive changes that might have to be made (pleasegodihopenot). Everything is ready to go -- responses, etc. I'm as impatient as everybody else, now. ^_-

Eight will be finished as soon as I put my back into it. Though again, I beg everyone's patience in the near future, since the whole finals/moving back home/graduating from college time period is nearing with every second, and we know how crazy THAT is going to be.
