Raccoons Rescued From Inside Pepsi Machine

Chris Howell, NewsOn6.com
TULSA, OK -- People who live at an apartment complex in Tulsa were shocked to see more than soda cans in a Pepsi machine.
They saw two raccoon faces peering out from behind the machine.
"They just kind of came peeking around there and before I knew it, they were all the way out here kind of looking at me," said Linda McWater. "I really thought it was best to get someone that knows what they're doing. We called several people and I finally got hold of the Skunk Whisperer."
The Skunk Whisperer, Ned Bruha, has rescued all types of wild animals from inside attics and under houses. So while the call was unusual to the apartment residents, it was just another day for him.
"They put money in and a little raccoon hand came out," Ned said. "All wildlife wants is food, water and shelter, that's all wildlife wants. That raccoon has substituted that water with Pepsi."
After the Pepsi vendor opened the machine, Ned was able to use a little of his quiet coaxing and a gentle poke in the backside with a bent coat hanger to evict the troublesome twins from their poolside condominium.
"This is what we do every day," said Ned, "and when we can save an animal's life, that makes it so much better."
The raccoon kits were relocated to much more appropriate accommodations at a local wildlife sanctuary.

 | 11:55 am - A Miracle Kitty!
"Miracle", a six-week-old black kitten, went for a 40-mile ride this week in the wheel-well of a 2002 Buick La Sabre.
Kellyanne Davis, co-owner of Alpaca Paradise in Ransomville, New York left the farm Monday evening, headed to Amherst.
She didn't realize the kitten was in the wheel-well.
On Tuesday morning Kellyanne drove to work still unaware of the six-week-old kitten.
Later, for lunch, she went to a local pizzeria and heard an unusual noise coming from the front end of her car.
"I was bringing lunch back to the office when I thought I heard a "meow" sound coming from somewhere in the car", Davis said. "I stopped and looked inside and found nothing. I continued to work and mentioned it to my co-workers and we all went outside to investigate. As we approached the car, we heard a meow. We opened the hood and found nothing. Our rescue team then jacked the car up, got under the car and discovered the sound coming from the right front wheel-well. After some prodding, we discovered a black, six-week-old kitten that crawled up in the wheel well when I left Alpaca Paradise on Monday night. We have 17 cats at the farm, and this kitten decided she wanted to come home with me."
Miracle is doing fine, after what was more than a 40-mile ride.
"It really is a miracle," said Davis, who has since found a home for the kitten. (Copyright 2009 by NBC. All Rights Reserved.)

 | 09:44 pm - Weaning the babies
I am curious about natural weaning methods. I recall a woman being told to rub a little vinegar over her nipple in an effort to wean her own child, but are there any safe methods available for weaning kittens raised on Formula?
I really wish I could share pics of my babies, but my computer won't accept my camera at this time.
-
God noticed a cat had recently entered Heaven after dying in a fire and he pitied him. He asked him what He could do to make the newcomer's stay in Heaven more pleasant.
The cat replied, "I have been wandering the Earth nearly all my life. I would like a soft pillow so that I can rest from my travels."
God smiled and offered him the softest pillow possible.
Several days later, he came across a large family of mice who died in a flood and asked them the same question. They felt that if they had better means of mobility, they might have been able to escape their fate, so they asked for roller skates. God then put the skates on the small feet of all the tiny rodents.
Several days later, he saw the cat again and was pleased to find him looking quite content.
"Have you been enjoying your stay in Heaven," he asked?
"Yes, I have, This pillow is wonderful. And please, keep those meals on wheels coming!"

 | 01:58 pm - The little darlings are alive and well
Well, the as-yet unnamed kittens are still around and eating. Big sister is getting bigger but the little brother seems to remain at the same weight as always and that worries me.
They are both eating semi-solids (sister is doing really good at that) and they are using the litter adequately (as far as I can tell).
I do not know their birth date, so I have adopted April 17 as the lucky day.
Now I just need some good brother/sister names for them.

 | 12:09 am - Fatherhood? Me? A few days ago, I became a father to two beautiful baby kitties. However, they were only a couple of weeks old and not ready for solid food. I was assured otherwise and now I have to feed them kitten milk formula very often. That can kill my personal life.
Sounds familiar.
(I'll post pix when I can get them uploaded)

It's a video on CNN.com (sorry, don't know how to get around the short ad in the beginning). I'm... not sure what to think about it except it really doesn't seem healthy to me :/
