UPDATE (I): kitsche is not dead; I like to think of it as a very long, fulfilling nap. I have recently moved, thus I am currently without a scanner. I hope to get one soon so I will not have to wait until every trip back home (New York to Indianapolis trips aren't a very common occurence...) to scan new work. I do apologize for not posting in so long; I hope my future updates will make up for that.

ORDERING PRINTS

Pricing is for each individual print or set.

Try to keep the quantity of prints per order at a reasonable amount.

After you fill out the form below, I will email you a quota of your entire order, including the cost of shipping and handling. I will also give you instructions for further payment.

I accept Paypal, check/money order, or cash. I am not responsible for any loss of money.

I will not ship your print until I have received your upfront payment.

Shipping and handling costs depend on the number of prints, sizes of prints, urgency of shipment, and the shipping address.

I do ship internationally wherever it is possible, though shipping costs will be more (but not drastically!) expensive than shipping costs within the USA.

Prints are not to be used for commercial or derivative purposes. Contact me if you have further inquiries about print usage (see below email).

I do not mat, mount, or gift-wrap prints unless otherwise asked to do so. There will be an extra charge, but that will be specified in the quota.

I sign prints; just request a signature and let me know where to sign!

Prints are protected to ensure their quality.

If I am unable to process orders of prints, I will put print ordering on hiatus. Anything that is paid before I go on hiatus will be shipped at the expected date.

I reserve the right to refuse your order. (I don't ever recall a time when I did have to exercise this right.)

FILLING OUT THE FORM

Confused by the form?
NAME: Your name, duh. :)
EMAIL: Your email. I do not sell your email or use it for spam purposes. I use it solely for print orders.
ORDERING: This should be in the format of BARCODE(# of prints wanted). For example, if I wanted to order five 8"x10" glossy prints of "Plotlines", I would enter DR083G(5). DR083G is the barcode displayed next to the item. The "(5)" means that you want 5 prints of this specific item. If you are ordering different items, just separate these items with commas. Still sound confusing? See the example form below.
PAYMENT METHOD: I currently accept Paypal, check/money order, and cash. Just list one method of payment in the blank.
SPECIAL REQUESTS: This includes (but is not limited to) the following: signed prints, giftwrapping, matting, and mounting. You may be charged for any requests.
RECEIVING DEADLINE (if applicable): I generally start shipping prints within seven days of receiving your payment, but if you need to receive your print seven days after your order is processed, let me know so I can help expedite the shipping process. I still do not ship until I have received payment, so I am not responsible for any late shipment due to failure to pay or problems with the delivery itself.

**My old camera has no memory stick and my place in China has no scanner, so I had to use my mom's camera to take this. Yes, that is the actual size of the photo. No, I'm sorry but I don't know why the camera resized it so now the bird drawing is all sharpened. Once I get a memory stick, I'm reuploading.

This post is meant to serve as a reference for any questions that you have. I have the answers to the more frequently asked questions below. Q: Can I join kitsche?
A: Nope, but you are welcome to add the community to your friends-list for updates. The reason for this is because all the entries are public and therefore, there isn't exactly a point to have members if anybody can see the art.

Q: Why is this a one-person community instead of a regular journal?
A: Communities are much easier and more convenient to maintain than regular journals, in my opinion. Plus, I don't have the annoyance of logging in and out of journals all the time.

Q: When will you update next?
A: It depends! My posting patterns are nonexistent, if not unpredictable.

Q: I'd like to comment, but I don't have a LJ!

Q: What mediums do you use?
A: I usually list it in the entry, but generally I'll use watercolors, markers, coloured pencils, and Sharpies. However, many of my entries post-November-2007 use Reeves acrylics and Niji Watercolors in addition to the previously listed materials.

Q: What journal do you use?
A: Anything before May 11 2006 was created in a Moleskine 5"x8" sketchbook.

Q: Where do you buy your materials?
A: Moleskines can be bought in any major bookstore. Prismacolor markers/coloured pencils can be found in art and office supply stores. I use generic watercolours, which can be found anywhere. All the art materials that I use can be found on Amazon, if not at any given art supplier.

Q: Where do you get your inspiration/ideas?
A: I get my inspiration from my surroundings. I listen to music, which helps when I'm out of ideas. Reading and looking at other art helps as well.

Q: Do you have a favourite artist you admire?
A: I have heaps of artists whom I just love. I'll probably compile a list of inspirational sites/artists soon.

Q: When is that book coming out?
A: Anywhere in 2007. I recently moved, and I put the book production on a hiatus. However, I am currently drafting the cover.

Q: What's it called?
A: I'll let you know when I decide on an actual title.

Q: What's the author name?

A: Yes.

A: Yes, I do!

Q: What sizes do you offer?
A: 4"x6", 5"x7", 8"x10" currently.

Q: Do you do commissions?
A: I do commissions when I'm available, depending on the request. I'll most likely accept any original designs. While I do not have an official form for commissions, you can feel free to email me. I am open to commissions as of November 2007.

Q: How much do you charge?
A: Email me for a quota.

Q: What payment methods do you accept?
A: Paypal, money order, check, or cash. I highly discourage the use of cash, as there's no proof of payment and it can easily get lost in the mail. Trust me, I've had my fair share of lost money due to cash. :(

Q: May I use your commission for commercial use?
A: When I do a commission for you, you are guaranteed the rights for personal use only, unless I specifically give you permission to do otherwise.

Q: What is your commission process?
A: Email me at kitsche at livejournal with a full description of your commission, your intended use for it, and any other things I should know about. I will send you a list of terms/agreements and a quota/price. Once you have read it, I expect you to pay the money upfront. Once I have received your payment, I will start working. I will usually have the work done in 1-2 weeks, assuming that this is not a huge commission. After that, I will email you a preview of the finished product. You have 1 week after I send the email to request revisions without being charged any extra fees. Once you are happy with the final product, you must accept the terms and agreements. Then I will send you the finished product.

Q: Do you refuse any commissions?
A: I will not do any fanart, any art that is solely intended to copy another's art style, anything that is copyrighted, anything pornographic/racist/violent, or any realism (the reason being that it's not my strong suit). If you have broken any terms/agreements from previous commissions, it is highly unlikely that I will accept another one from you.

Q: Can I make icons/graphics with your art?
A: Assuming that you credit kitsche and your graphics stay on LJ, no need to ask. I'd like to see them though; it's always nice to see what people make out of the art! :)

Q: May I use your art outside of Livejournal?
A: For personal posts: If you're posting my art as is, no need to ask, but please don't direct link. I'm under limited bandwidth on all my hosts, and it costs money to pay for extra. Instead, save it to your own server.
For galleries/exhibitions: Depends on the situation, but ask first, please.
For commercial/business purposes: Definitely ask first!
Credit must be given to kitsche any time you use my art, on OR off LiveJournal. Thank you!

Q: Where can I find icons that people have made?
A: Check the kitsche memories. I automatically archive all posts that use my art, as long as I'm notified about them.

Q: What's your policy on copyrights?
A: All my works are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivative Works 2.5 License.

Q: What does kitsche mean?
A: I've always liked the word, despite the negative connotations that it carries in the art world. Thing is, this journal identifies with kitsch more as a political term rather than the art term. The political term refers to a false consciousness or a "mindset misguided in desires and wants," something that this journal is about.

Q: May I promote a community in your journal?
A: No.

Q: Will you affiliate with me?
A: No, sorry. I'd like to keep kitsche independent.

CONTEST!

Objective
This is actually regarding the book; I still don't have an idea for a title! The ones that I think of turn out to be part of copyrighted lyrics of obscure songs. So, here's the challenge: suggest a title for the book. I'd like you guys to suggest actual titles, not just general ideas for one.

Prizes
The person who submits the title that best fits the book will receive a free 8"x10" print from yours truly. The winner will get to choose a print between these five: 1 2 3 4 5. Obviously, the prints will be of higher quality than their respective links. If I choose you as the winner, it does not necessarily mean that I will automatically select your title for the book.

EDIT: I will also select 4 runners-up. These four will receive a 4"x6" print of any one of those five choices above.

Notes
1. You may submit as many titles as possible.
2. Comments will be screened.
3. Titles must be of your own original creation!

1. About the book, international shipping is available, so no worries. It will be available in the fall via Amazon, Border's, Barnes & Noble, AuthorHouse.com, etc. None of the entries that were made after May 10 will be included, because of the size and journal differences. I will update with more details of the book when I have them.

2. All icon/graphic posts made with my art will be posted in the memories, provided that you send me a link of your entry. You can browse around the icons that people have made without searching through the comments.

3. I offer prints, but those are currently on hold, as I'm on vacation.

4. If you'd like to know the date each entry was created, it is either written in the entry itself or it is on the subject line.

5. Everything created before May 11 was in a generic hardcover journal with lined paper. Everything created May 11 and beyond is in a Moleskine.

Depends! I try to update every week, but sometimes I have to delay posting.

When is that book going to be published?
This journal won't be finished until May 10, and I'll need some time to set up the book layout and whatnot. I'm thinking sometime during the summer.
