One of the topics that I actually care about this election year:
[Politics? And not baseball, wrestling or my family? Shocking, I know]

Now, First Lady's aren't always 100% awesome and I understand this. I actually like Laura Bush (way better than Mrs. Bush) and while I don't submit to the whole Family Guy: "Laura Bush killed a man~!" thing, I still think out of the two Bushes, Laura was probably pretty smart growing up and now she's more than obviously the smarter one in her relationship. However? Cindy McBarbieCain? Scares the living shit out of me. Both as a person and aesthetically as a living breathing (?) Stepford Wife. When she was on The View (because remember, while I and most people with any logical brains can't stand watching an entire episode of The View without wanting to commit some form of homicide, a large portion of the voting public does. So, of course, I watched most of it) she said something about "our horrible enemies in the Russians."

Yes, they are horrible. But, the only reason she was saying this was because it was in the middle of the Russia / Georgia conflict. There is no need for a future First Lady to say anything like that when Russia (not Georgia) is one of America's biggest allies with oil. If more people had been watching it except for the Polish girl who is anal about all things Russia, there would've been a huge political blowup because you don't say that sort of shit, no matter how true it might be.

Cindy McCain's Attack On Obama's Record Offends Military Spouses
http://tinyurl.com/4dcod3

At a rally in Bethlehem, Pa. last week, Cindy McCain spoke about having two sons serving on active duty: "I'm proud of my sons, but let me tell you, the day that Senator Obama cast a vote not to fund my son when he was serving sent a cold chill through my body. I would suggest that Senator Obama change shoes with me for just one day, and see what it means."

Never mind how many drinks are needed to erase the mental image of Barack Obama wearing Cindy McCain's stiletto heels. The fact is -- many military spouses support Obama-Biden, and they were deeply offended by Mrs. McCain's outburst.

Let's fact-check her remark, shall we?

Cindy McCain was referring to a single 2007 Senate vote: Obama voted for a war-spending bill that included language calling for withdrawing troops from Iraq; but later he voted against a version of the same bill because it no longer included the withdrawal language. "We must fund our troops, but we owe them something more," Obama said at the time. "We owe them a clear, prudent plan to relieve them of the burden of policing someone else's civil war."

In other words, Sen. Obama wanted to fund the troops, he just didn't support the flawed military strategy this particular bill would enable. (Previously, Obama had voted YES on at least 10 other war funding bills. For a lengthy list of John McCain's NO votes on military funding, click here.)

"It ruffles our feathers when someone claims that Barack Obama doesn't support the troops, because the Obamas have gone out of their way to understand the military, its families, and its veterans," Stephanie Himel-Nelson, deputy director of outreach for Blue Star Families for Obama, told OffTheBus. "In fact, Michelle Obama has adopted military families as one of her causes."

Would Cindy McCain "Change Shoes" With These Military Wives?

"When millionaires such as Cindy McCain act as if they understand our lives, and the lives of everyday military families and veterans, we get upset," said Himel-Nelson.

read on (also, the link has all the fact checkers for you to see. Sadly, I can't get that to work on my Semagic )

No con should be that much fun...
AnimeUSA 08 might have been one of the best cons I've EVER been to. Drama-free, costume fun, and just way too much cracked-out goodness to describe here. Not that words would do ANY of it justice anyways :)

I loved being Abe Sapien most of all...the anoymity was actually quite nice for a change :) Even though I had no vision on either side of my head and it was incredibly warm, it was a really fun costume overall.

Weiss was...well...drunkenly awesome fun. It was fun even without alcohol, but add that to the mix, and BAM! That's all I can really say about that, mwhahahaha.

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who I saw this weekend, even if it was for a few minutes here and there. As much as I can complain about life currently. I can't complain about the quality of the people in it :) You guys all rock, seriously. I wish we'd all be able to see each other more often...but that's the beauty of the Internet, I suppose.

Photos and more musings and details to come, but had to get the ridiculous out. I'm super tired and should be sleeping, writing my 8 page Biology paper, thinking of bribery to make Aya drunk again, or thinking of how/when to grope [info]xlixia's ass again. Toodles :)

Ok so my dad was looking in the garage cuz I guess he's filming a new episode The First 48 tomorrow and needed to find a case file or something? Idk. All I know is that he promised me dinner and then I had to end up going to buy my own. >:/

But whatever! While he was in there, he found a box with TONNNSSS of old pictures. Some pictures I completely forgot existed or never even knew about.

But omg MAJOR nostalgia trip. I almost cried hahaha. I miss being 4 years old. That was a good age.

So here are the pics and I'm gonna put them in kind of chronological order. I also have some pics of my mom from when she was really young.

Sort of warning: 21 sort of big pics ahead! So it might take a second to load.

Where were you in 92? )

If I'm licking your glove I'm going to be very upset!
So AUSA was FABULOUS. It was so good that I had to look up how to make fancy pants sparkly text to convey just how fabulous it was. I am... a little hung over, but that's okay. 8D

Weiss Kreuz cosplay plus drinkie drinkie equals hilarity and stupid and scaring our waitress at Chili's. Stumbling through Crystal City and holding each other up was hilarious. Never has a mailbox been so hilarious. Going back to the hotel room lead to fucking numbers and letters, lots of unconscious Yohji taunting, REALLY LOUD DISNEY SONG SINGING LOL I JUST NOW REMEMBERED THAT, and lots and lots of gay.

Met so many awesome people this weekend and hanging out with them all was fantastic.

Looks like we're going to Katsu too, though it'll be WeissCon for us because that's all we're doing for it - like 4 different versions LOL.

Ok, Excedrin and more food time. Fuck I hope I don't have any homework.

THE ULTIMATE SILENCE
October 12, 1998

Listen to the mustn'ts, child.
Listen to the don'ts.
Listen to the shouldn'ts,
The impossibles, the won'ts.
Listen to the never haves,
Then listen close to me ...
Anything can happen, child.
Anything can be.

~ Shel Silverstein

Nine years ago, Matthew Shepard was murdered for being homosexual.

What will you do to end the silence?

While there has yet to be an official word, the New York Post says it’s totally happening.

"She’s booked. It’s confirmed. Done deal. Sketches are being sketched as we speak. She - eyeglasses, haircomb, designer jacket and trunkful of gosh-darns, golly-gees and gol-dangs - will be on “SNL” Saturday night, Oct. 25. Sarah’s rehearsal time has already been penciled in for Friday the 24th."

We’re excited to check out the VP wannabe’s comedy chops, but we somehow doubt she’ll be able to do a better Palin impersonation than Tina Fey!

Omg birthday present!!!! How exciting!
