mermaid's tears
[she's in the arts and crafts room, making jewelry with a container full of sea glass that she found. there's a plate with half a sandwich off to the side, and an almost empty bottle of chocolate milk beside it.]

[pauses and looks over, then grins.]

Really? I was in here with the little Sora a while back. He got glitter everywhere, so I had to introduce him to glitter glue.

That's my 'bug. I'll have to bring him here to do out printmaking project.

What are you making?

Just some jewelry. I was kind of surprised to find so much sea glass here, but I guess I shouldn't have been.

[holds up a half finished necklace with small blue and green pieces stringed along it.]

Oh, neat! I like the colors a lot.

The greens, browns, and clear ones are the ones you'd find the most on beaches.

[picks a small, light blue piece with a hole already in it and adds it to the bracelet.]

You can make something too, there's more than enough glass.

Nothing much... I found sea glass and thought I'd make some stuff.

Mmhm. Although collecting it was sometimes half the fun, so it's too bad I couldn't do that.

[starts stringing a few things back onto the bracelet.]

Did you check the beach room? Might be some in there.

[Considers the simulation room too, but that wouldn't have tangible things to take, would it?]

[info]pluiet
2008-12-02 11:36 pm UTC (link)
I didn't think to check in there, since the water doesn't go anywhere and the way sea glass is made is from people tossing bottles and stuff into the ocean.

[looks thoughtful, though.]

Some pieces of sea glass are from as far back as the 1700s.

[deadpan.]

See the edges? They're all worn and stuff from being tumbled around in strong currents and storms and things. I don't think the beach room has storms. It'd probably take years to get proper sea glass.

...W-well, then where did the glass that's already here come from?

[Thinks on it.]

I guess it could be like the wines and stuff. They're from ages ago too.

Where does the food come from? Who really knows. It was just on a shelf all in this container.

[shrugs, smiling a bit.]

I'm not really complaining, they're pretty and there's a lot of the rarer colours too.

(Reply to this) (Parent)(Thread)

[info]twilightavarice
2008-12-03 01:30 am UTC (link)
So, how do you get different colors anyway if they just come from clear bottles?

[At least he's genuinely curious.]

(Reply to this) (Parent)(Thread)

[info]pluiet
2008-12-03 01:50 am UTC (link)
Well there are more than clear bottles out there. When I first got introduced to sea glass, I decided to look it up.

[holds up a black piece.]

The black ones are really rare, for example. They're the really old ones from the 1700s, from dark green bottles.

[info]twilightavarice
2008-12-03 02:06 am UTC (link)
Huh. So they just turn black after a while in the ocean?

(Reply to this) (Parent)(Thread)

[info]pluiet
2008-12-03 02:11 am UTC (link)
I guess so. All the different coloured ones were originally a colour like that when they were bottles, plates, whatever.

It depends on what kind of school you go to. There are both public and private schools that are just day to day things where you go home at the end of every school day, and then there are the boarding schools where you live there all year.
