AboutThis community is for people interested in buying, wearing, collecting and discussing Japanese kimono, obi and accessories.
Hopefully it will be a resource for advice, links, suggestions, discussion and commentary on kimono styles in history and contemporary culture.
This can include variations such as wa-loli style kimono, and kimono wearing with modern twists, but non-kimono based fashion is not really what this community is about.
For general Japanese street fashion, alternative fashion or lolita fashion, check out appropriate communities available.
We love your links to kimono buying websites and kimono fashion pictures, please put pictures under cut or link to sites.
Please do not post repeated links to your personal or community journals or to your websites.

Advertising occasionally for kimono sales and kimono accessories is acceptable, but please do not advertise for clothing or items not connected to the wearing of kimono or other traditional japanese dress.

Source of product, material, measurements, price, fabric and other relevant details should be specified. Payment methods accepted, shipping methods, region and cost MUST be specified.

Original artwork featuring kimono is not suitable for this community - this is a community about wearing kimono - not drawing them.

Please note - I do check all requests for joining this community before adding anyone - I am reluctant to add anyone who does not show a significant and specific interest in Japan, japanese culture, clothing, fashion, design, history - as I am not sure how you will be able to contribute positively to the community.
An interest in anime and cosplay is not quite the same as an interest in the process of design, construction, wearing, styling of kimono, of its cultural and historical significance in japanese culture and tradition and in its evolution into modern variations of wear.
I hope to create a challenging community with a degree of lively debate, information, discussion, opinion, references, recomendations and resources, so my primary objective was always to try and keep the community focused around those who have more than a merely passing interest in kimono.
I may decide to become stricter in accepting requests if i feel that the membership has grown significantly without any correlation to the level of discussion and interaction within the community.
