We Killed the Hubble!

This is a sketchblog by Faith Erin Hicks, nem0 and Adam Boorman. We post sketches here, ranging from finished coloured pieces to doodles on the back of napkins. This blog is image heavy, but nothing wider than 500px is posted. Feel free to comment expansively on the artwork. We enjoy it.

I played Rock Band for the first time (fun!) and drew this while watching others play:

It's so disgustingly cute it gave me a cavity and then I had to go off and draw something manly. MANLY, I say!

Yes, very manly.

Not so manly. I go back and forth over the cartoony style. Should I embrace it and forever throw off my desire to be a Paul Pope type realist, or keep struggling? I opt to try harder.

I haven't updated since WHEN???

I'm completely horrified by the last update on this sketchblog. I'm sorry! I'm in crunch time for my book right now, so most things have fallen by the wayside. I don't think I'll do that again, though. I really must get more sketching time in. Anyway, here're a couple things:
Grace was incredibly kind and did a lovely colouring of a previous sketch. I apologize for her for not getting back to her ... it looks awesome, Grace! Thanks so much!

And a sketch of silly teenage boys play fighting. Gotta draw more boys.

Raven and Madeline, drawn while watching the NFL season opener. That advertisement with Payton and Eli Manning playing DDR kills me. Y'all are goofy!

It was hailing while I drew this picture. Crazy weather...

... and that was pretty much my feeling last week. A very exciting time. Also, anything that reminds me of "Go Team Venture!" cracks me up.

Some chick with tattoos. Maybe her secret power is that the tattoos come ALIVE and FIGHT CRIME or ... sorry, I am suddenly dead from lame. I don't know why the whole 'tattoos come alive' thing cracks me up so much, but it does.

... um, I dunno? Haha. I'm kind of having a weird day.

take that godzilla!

My little superhero girl boots a wannabe godzilla in the chin. Looks like fun! And in response to a question on my last picture, the texture is just a Photoshop noise filter over the gray shading.

I didn't have a very good week, but really, my bad weeks just don't compare to Leon and Ashley's bad week.

But at least Ashley gets to ride around in Leon's arms occasionally. haha.

I completely apologize for not posting, well, anything for the longest time... San Diego took up a lot of my free time, and since I've gotten back I've had to plunge straight back into comicking, leaving little time for sketching... but here are a few bits and bobs for y'all...

Raven has a stare-down with a cat. Both are probably somewhat evil. Both hide it well.

Emily (from my new book The War at Ellsmere) and an olive branch? Not likely.

Leon from RE4 and some girl? Huh.

Isaac wearing some sort of hilarious outfit. Looking sharp there, laddie! Kind of looks like what the US Olympians wore when they marched during the opening ceremonies. Everyone's got a YACHT. Lovely.
Anyway, hopefully there won't be such a dry spell again.

Name the Superhero!

In a fit of annoyance last night (The Dark Knight kind of pissed me off), I started back on designing superheroes. GIRL superheroes, that is.

She needs a name ... and various powers. I think she can fly, because flying is very cool, but I think she should have other powers too.

I'm thinking maybe she gets affirmative-action-ed into a Justice League-esque group of white male superheroes, which annoys her since she prefers working alone. Maybe she befriends the token person-of-colour on the team as well. I enjoyed that book Soon I Will Be Invincible. It had some nice twists on male and female superhero archetypes.

Anyway, she needs a name and superpowers! Help me name and power her up, or something!

Aang *hearts* Katara

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

Since it is THE LAST WEEK OF AVATAR EVAR I thought I'd do some fanart for the series.

An older-looking Aang and Katara at what could possibly be interpreted as a beach. Personally (and I say this knowing NOTHING about the finale of the show) I kind of think Aang is going to die in the finale. Or Zuko. Somebody's gotta die, I think. Plus, he's already confessed his love for Katara, so ... yeah, he's doomed, methinks. You are welcome to comment with speculation, but no firm spoilers please. Otherwise I KILL YOU. I KILL YOU DEAD.
Anyway. Aang likes older women. Which is awesome. :P
