I was watching 'The 100 most annoying pop songs' on BBC3 last night - can you believe the runt was only 28 with 'You're beautiful'??
I would have put him at least in the top 5.
By the way what does everybody think about '1973'? |

It's no Micheal Stipe doing "shiny happy monsters", but whatever.
I mentioned this next one ages ago I think, I was terrified of seeing it, but it's so bad it doesnt even make an impact on the original.
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=_tQL2vOhzf0
What HAS just mortified me beyond belief is looking at the comments on that one... I can never get used to seeing "best singer ever" - especially when being compared to the Pixies. BETTER THAN THE PIXIES??!!! WHAT?????????(sorry, I watched a load of Pixies live videos earlier, I am rather incensed). If I met the person who put "he (Francis Black) is just a fat guy who can't sing" I would... I don't know, do something horrific.
I know it shouldn't bother me and I should leave it and there are enough people defending the Pixies but ARG! I have to comment I can't help it... |

I've nabbed this of a block called Abnego:
"I have a kind of half formed theory that the phenomenon of the global enormo-band only 'mattered' for a relatively short period of time: it had its cultural apotheosis in the 1970s, achieved super-predator chrome-plated moneymoneymoney meaninglessness in the 1980s, slowly ossifying into the Nuremburg rally comfort blanket heritage industry that we all know today: the touring exhibition of the holy relics for the faithful......speaking of which, I saw The Verve peddling low-rent emotional catharsis in a stadium one time, the audience all around me appeared to be sobbing and hugging as if Derren Brown had touched them on that special place on the back of their neck and told them it was OK to stop blaming themselves about their dead mum (though actually, I suspect it was something to do with being western, white, well-educated and well off but spiritually a bit unhappy, like...)...I felt like the undercover reporter at the Scientology induction, and had to get the hell out before they all turned, and sacrificed me as an unbeliever (you know those crowd scenes in the zombie films, where the protagonist has to pretend to be a zombie too, in order to get to the car and escape)......anyway, they all do this feel-bad shtick: Coldplay, Keane, Athlete, Snow Patrol, James's Blunt and Morrison, Katie Melua, the whole sordid bunch...all they have to offer is a mimsying non-specific communal group hug..."yeah, sometimes things seem really bad, I know, we're all kind of to blame people, but you know what, together we can work it out, here's a mid-paced piano-based ballad that'll heal those psychic wounds, yeah, you and me, we're the same, I used to work in a call centre, I feel your pain man, we'll get through this"...is it just me, or was there once a time when stadium music events were straight up, balls out Viking fun rather than passive-agressive miss-the-point maudlin communions?"
I trust everyone is well? |

I guess I knew it was inevitable... but still it came as a horrible, painful surprise when I heard of an imminently approacing new travesty from Blunt - a whole new album - GOD HELP US ALL!!!!!!
It's going to start all over again... singles comparable to You're Beautiful and High being played everywhere CONSTANTLY.
The only thing I can hopefully look foward to is - like before - taking refuge in this sacred sanctuary with you people.
Please say you'll be here when the nightmare begins anew... |

| | Frank Zappa - Who Are The Brain Police? | ] | I came across an article on Mr. Graham Coxon and some of what he said made me smile:
"Blunty? There's no humour in his music and doesn't seem to be much depth. It's the sort of thing you'd write on a card if you were sending flowers. He's not very angry and perhaps too together. That's what a lot of people require for a quick lift... Perhaps Blunty is healthier than me. I find that straight, sincere talk embarrassing. He might be great chatting up a girl. I'm not. There's a loser element to what I write about."

I would very much like to employ our record store tactics with it, obviously I wont put it in the metal section of hmv but there are several bins nearby. Question is - how do I get at it? Its Embedded in the frame of the bus shelter. And if I cant get it, what then? |

Hello, toethemutt has kindly allowed me to do a small plug on here for something I think members of this community would appreciate.
I created this kinda lyrics game thing, basically if you can identify the latest lyrics posted, you get to post some new ones... and so on. It's a good oppertunity to learn new cool lyrics and share some cool ones of your own with other people :)

Thank you toe! |
