Lose energy for a story?
Hey Killer_fic. Things have been a bit quiet around here, though I'd try to ask for some discussion.

I'm in the middle of writing a thing at the moment, and I'm finding that my confidence in stringing proper sentences together is fading. It's not the same as writer's block, it's more a... lack of interest.

Do you ever find that you hit a point where you just can't siphon energy from anywhere to keep some work going? Sometimes it seems like I've reached the point where I don't know if I will be able to finish the story the way it is laid out in my head.

What do you do? Do you throw the story away? Do you leave it and work on something else? Do you try to push through it when it happens?

And another...
"So, who wants to make some noise?"

[info]raincollector and I have begun to think that we've not had much luck getting stories here on the comm because the submission process is a touch complicated, so from here on out, if you have a story you'd like people to read, feel free to post it up yourself.  Please place the story itself under a cut, and include the genre, word count, and any warnings that you feel might be necessary.  Also, please tag the story accordingly, and make the entry Friends Only.

And here's another...
"Excuse me," said Grace, and reached over to remove a piece of lint from the shoulder of my sweater.

Our list of story starters and themes is starting to run a little low, so if any of you have any suggestions for any kind of story prompts, please mail them to killer.fiction.mods@gmail.com.  And if you have any stories, feel free to mail those, too.

And here's another one...
I've always believed that faith is a fine thing, but it won't stop a bullet.

It's sunny again...
But I think 3 in a row might be mining the weather theme a bit too much, so here's a new story starter for your creative pleasure:

"If you won't do it," Jack said, "I will."

It's about damn time...
In honor of the first decent day we've had so far this month, but in keeping with the theme from Friday, here's today's prompt:

Every cloud has a silver lining.

April showers bring... more of the same?
I thought that April showers were supposed to bring May flowers, but I can't help but notice, every time I look out my window of late, that Mother Nature seems to have adopted a default setting of Rain, Rain, and More Rain.  So, in an art-imitates-life sort of turn, here's today's theme prompt:

Into every life a little rain must fall.

You don't have to use that as the first line, but that must be the theme of the story in some way or another.  Have fun.

Challenge + Discussion, Take 2
Hi everyone! Rain here with another Fairy Tale challenge for you.

SLEEPING BEAUTY

Sleeping Beauty was never asleep, but paralyzed, and unable to move until the Prince kissed her. What was she thinking while she was trapped inside her body? Did she tell the Prince the truth when he revived her? Why or why not?

Write from any point in the tale, tell the whole thing beginning to end if you like. Speak from the point of view of any character. The only rule is that the fact that she will/was/is only paralyzed and looks peaceful, and is not actually asleep, has to factor into the story.

Set it in any time, any place. For a disturbing read that may lead to possible inspiration, look up lethal injection on Wikipedia. I could link to the article from here but I'm too lazy.

DISCUSSION

What was your inaugural piece as a writer? Tell us about it. Was it a story, a poem, an article? Dare I say it, a fanfic? What made you realize that writing was an important part of who you are?

While we're at it, take this as an opportunity to introduce yourselves, since Shayne and I are socially inept and realized that we hadn't thought of suggesting that earlier.

You know us. Sort of. Let us get to know about wonderful you!

There Shayne, was that nice and polite?

I am never less than supremely considerate and kind and above all, tactful with my fellow human beings.

Also, if anyone has a comment they'd like to make, or a question they'd like to ask, or a topic they'd like to put up for discussion, go for it.  You guys can all post here, so if you've got something on your mind, let 'er rip.Poll #1168999 Killer Fiction Poll #1
