I'm still alive, just been super busy with getting married, watching all of Bleach (yep ALL of it, wish the 3rd movie would get subbed (if you have subs please let me know) and not to mention getting some Copic Markers and just becomeing obsessed with them. So here are a few small batches of recent movies/shows and some of the older fandoms that have been hanging around these past months. Don't worry there will be more Transformers icons, I have a record to beat ;) Some of these I've been hanging onto a while. Sorry.

Iconning Tips and Tricks



Instead of writing a tutorial on how to do a specific icon here are a collection of tips and tricks that I have been using, these have been obtained from the various tutorials found on icon_tutorial which is a great place to start for any iconner. I will be using a variety of sample images, these are to best demonstrate the tip.
These will not be comprehensive step-by-step procedures on how to get effects just some ideas to get you started. Aimed at all levels and includes:

Black and White tips, using Exclusion, Luminosity, Yellow Soft Light Layers and Textures.

Went a little red crazy with The Next Doctor icons, I just adored Miss Hartigan's dress! Then I went text crazy in Tropic Thunder, if you want any of them without the text let me know I can strip it off for you ;) And yeah um, this Code Geass set has splashes of Orange-kun and Luluko *cough*. Again my colouring is very different than the 'norm' might be a little too grey for some ;)

Again gone a little texture crazy and pink now that I look at it ;) The textures and colouring works differently on the anime icons, decided not to wait till I finished my Code Geass bunch cause I have a feeling that will get bat shit crazy out of control ;) That and my VM with photoshop is driving me crazy.
Oh yeah and a pimp for topgear_aust for any one interested in that show :)

Sneaky LJ have changed the URL of the icon.gif and community.gif images so when you mask them out in your CSS it doesn't work.
Edit: June 2009 They changed the URL again. About the same time as last year so I've guessing around April next year it will get changed again - if not earlier.

If the quality of an icon is poor I apologise, I have changed OS, changed programs (I was a PSPro user, now I'm using a combination of Photoshop CS3 and The GIMP for my icons now) and I haven't mastered the same way of saving files. In PSP pngs were next to useless, I've given them a go for some of the icons here and the results are much better.
