A question about cabs and carseats...
I am currently without a vehicle and I am up in East Kelowna. The nearest anything is an hour and to get down 'into town' is more like two hours respectfully. Now, this in and of itself does not bother me too much but... At the end of a wander around town the last thing I want to do is walk uphill behind a stroller. I called a couple of cab companies and not one of them keep a car seat on hand...WTF? Even the shithole buttfuck town I came from had car seats for their customers. Anyway, I do own a car seat obviously but I cannot walk with it and a stroller. Does anyone have any suggestions? Moving trucks?
I doubt I'll get this lucky but it's worth a shot. Is anyone planning on having a truck go through both Kelowna and Calgary around the end of October? I need to get a piano from Kelowna to our new place in Airdrie (just north of Calgary), and I'm hoping that someone will have a bit of room and doesn't mind making a quick extra stop. Dark Kelowna Tea Party and picnic Sept 21 3-6pm
Autumn is the perfect time for "dark". The season of death sleep is upon us. The nights are longer. The days are crisper. We can bring out all our beautiful full length cloaks and traipse around in the fallen leaves. It's the perfect time for warm tea on a soft blankets surrounded by like-minded souls eating scones and listening to Beethoven in the beautiful Autumn weather. The day before Autumn Equinox (Sunday September 21 2008) there will be a Gothic Victorian tea party and picnic being held in the trees at City Park in downtown Kelowna. (weather permitting of course. Keep fingers crossed) There will be photographers, (feel free to bring your own photo equipment) music, tea, and a general relaxed feeling of community. This event is strictly for fun. It's free. All you have to do is bring yourself in some awesome clothes and some things to share like tea or cookies or things. (homemade is best) This event has been inspired by an AMAZING woman http://www.viona-art.com/All photos with her logo are copyright to her. I'm using them in this group as inspiration to those that wish to attend or are interested. This event is Vegan and Vegetarian friendly! Please make sure that at least some of the items you bring are vegan or vegetarian. thank you What you can bring to this event: - Your lovely and fabulous self replete in gorgeous period, gothic, victorian, edwardian, EGL/lolita, -steampunk type of costume - Your beautiful smiles and personalities - picnic baskets - tea in thermoses to keep tea hot - tea pots - tea cups and saucers - biscuits - cookies - scones - finger foods - luncheon foods - honey - jam - spreads - utensils - a pretty blanket to sit down and spread out on - cushions to sit on - any kind of victorian/gothic tea paraphenalia Feel free to toss ideas out there and lets make this a really amazing event. PrairieGirl Productions, JamDance Productions, and The Shambhala Music Festival are announcing The Shambhala Dance Project 2008.
A multi-media contemporary dance performance project
Watch for our work on Friday and Saturday of the Shambhala Music Festival at the Salmo River Ranch, as well as various venues in Kelowna, BC. Join our group on FaceBook, or register with our mailing list: danceinshambles @ hotmail dot com.Keep checking back with our group, either as a dancer or a supporter of the arts! Be involved in bringing local art to life! Please feel free to discuss new and interesting events, lend ideas or support, and forward this group to anyone who may be interested in continuing or participating in this project. Yay! :) WE ARE CURRENTLY LOOKING FOR DANCERS TO PARTICIPATE IN THE SHAMBHALA DANCE PROJECT.-Dancers must be 19+, 17+ with parental permission. -Advanced ballet and/ or contemporary experience preferred -Break-dance, and experience with pointe work is an asset -Some paid contracts available -Performance dates are August 8th-11th, at the Salmo River Ranch in Salmo, BC. Just a few questions
Im looking for a few things, 1. Somewhere (preferably inexpensive) to get guitar lessons, preferably on the westside/peachland 2. Somewhere to get voice lessons, preferably on the westside/peachland 3. Good spot for a date?
OK. I'll spare all of you the details of the long story and cut to the chase. This girl and I are going to meet up in Kelowna in the next few weeks. We used to date but sadly, we now live in different provinces (N.W.T. for me, she's in Toronto)... Neither of us have spent much time (or any really) in Kelowna.. What I'm asking of you friendly folk is a good (and cheap! we're starving students after all) place for a date. Even just a good grassy knoll to lay down a blanket and a bottle of wine..
