TORONTO — Actress Kelly Rowan says she has a new companion when she goes to work these days - her one-year-old daughter.
The Ottawa native - best known for playing Kirsten Cohen on the teen soap "The O.C." - says she took three months off work after her daughter's birth last year.
Since then, she's been slowly taking on more projects - but says she's still primarily focused on her baby.
"I always take her with me everywhere," Rowan said on the line from London, with her daughter occasionally crying in the background. "I mean, right now, she's more what I've been focusing on, because it goes by so quickly."
Rowan made headlines in June 2007 when she and Canadian billionaire David Thomson announced they were engaged to be married.
But the pair reportedly split around the time Rowan gave birth on April 28, 2008.
Meanwhile, the 43-year-old Rowan - who declined to provide her daughter's name, saying she hadn't yet announced it to the media - continues to produce and act.
"She Drives Me Crazy," a made-for-TV movie that Rowan produced with Shaftesbury Films, will air on Sunday (CTV, 8 p.m. ET).
