You can buy a home of your own Firstly, thank you to blainemuffin for warning me about an eyeball post. <3 I'd have thanked you in comments there, but didn't want to risk seeing what was behind the cut, lol! Concern for my mental well being is most appreciated! So, the last couple of days have been really really stressful, BUT, it all ended well as we got ourselves a new apartment. :) It's a one bedroom at the place where my sis and brother in law live, and where Justin (said BIL, I'm just tired of spelling that out, lol) works. Cozied right up against the mountains, lots of trees, nice private porch and lots of sunlight, friendly neighbors, deer randomly wander in and out of the area,it's quiet, Old Colorado City is right around the corner; the hippy artist part of town <3 This is the area we plan to look for our first home in after about a year or so living in the Springs. We pass a lot of cute little houses all the times, and are looking forward to that! All in good time. :) ( About our new place! )We're not moving the critters till we have our stuff more or less here, and we can bunny proof and decide where everything goes. This way they won't be in the way of the movers. I'm really excited to have our own place again, to explore the area over there, and get settled in. Jai Ganesha! Current Mood: thankful |

Somebody's space to rent Back! Mostly! The computer is, as far as we can tell, at least 97% better. The moniter shuts itself off occassionally and won't come back on without a reboot, but after we returned the computer to factory condition the internet, browsers, etc and so on have been functioning normally again. Yay for external drive! All the important stuff is backed up on this adorable lil My Book which I adore. So, I am more or less back! I've actually been technically back for a couple of days, but we've been busy. So LJ cuts for all! ( Getting the WoW talk out of the way first. )( Home Hunting )( Mom's new neighbors )( Dark Knight: Y So SRS? )I think that covers everything for now, catching up wise... more to come though, I'm sure! And now to catch up on comments. :) Current Mood: awakeCurrent Music: Terry Pratchett - Going Postal Chapter 4: A Sign |

Politics p3 Okay, the best thing about the web is that folks will link to their sources to back up their claims. But then, the Internet as a whole is turning Democratic from what I see. Oh well, more info is better, especially when the Republican position is to restrict information (Pro RIAA, anti Net Neutrality). So here's another Republican bash for you. Remember that VP Canidate Sarah Palin has a fifth child with Down syndrome, detected in the womb? Daily Kos blogger ArcXIX (obviously not his real name) says that it's not her child. The kid is her grandson, borne to her barely-adult daughter. Now, you'll want proof. Photos and video are provided on the two articles here and here. All I can say is this: He's got a good point. Females visibly thicken up while pregnant. She doesn't look it on the fifth go around, and an earlier one she definitely looked it -- I think she nearly tripled in size back-to-front! Enough of "babygate" from me. |

Presidental Politics Part 2 Okay, Obama went with Biden, which gains many positives. Of course, there's some negatives to. I won't get into ether, because of what happened to day over on the Republican side.
If you don't know, I do have issues with McCain. I would respect him if he wanted to change the Republican position, but unfortunately it's still in line with current policies of the White House. His Internet policy is completely wrong to boot (Pro-RIAA/MPAA, Pro-DMCA, Anti-Neutral). His health is worse than that of VP Dick Cheney, and there's questions over his POW status in Vietnam. McCain's own personal image looks like he's just constantly constipated (influenced by the right pose paired with a LOLcat, and a caption saying "We're poopin'").
And now, we find out he's chosen Sarah Palin.
My first reaction was "A governor from ALASKA?!? Oh great. Once again the Republican party picks a VP that has no touch of reality in the lower 48."
Now that I research her, she's only been governor for a year, a mayor for six, and a city council member for four. City politics and experience don't apply too well for the entire country, and being from Alaska makes it worse. She's also under investigation for firing a public saftey commissioner for not firing a state trooper... who was a brother-in-law and the two were having alot of problems.
She's anti-abortion. She found out her fifth child was diagnosed with Down syndrome before birth, and decided to raise the child. Her reasoning evokes a heavy religious bent which should be illegal in politics.
She's pro-drilling and pro-oil, being a member of a oil consortium.
And to tick off the enviromentalists, she's an avid hunter, a member of the NRA (which I respect), and wants to allow shooting from helicopters.
Add onto it that in an interview a month before, she reguarded the VP position as a waste of time and resources, not knowing what the job entailed.
Ugh. Alot of things tell me they only got her for the womens vote... and there's a high chance of it backfiring. |

The worst part about hurricanes is unlike most other natural disasters that just occur there is this awful waiting game played with hurricanes. TV stations scare monger, you pack up essentials, people fight for gas well ahead of landfall. You try to get on normally but in the back of your mind it's there "by the end of the week this all might not be here..." Current Mood: worried |

Teresa liked my book, yay :D (Hi Teresa ;) ) I felt like myself today, which as you may have read that I haven't been lately, but today....today was good. I've got that euphoria that seems to often come along with having projects to do. I talked to Lynn about my degree plan and had it cleared up and sense made of it. So it turns out that I can painlessly pursue a second concentration in painting! This makes me happy. First SAA meeting today, we had a HUGE turnout, it was pretty fabulous! Who knows what the secret to success was for it, pizza, more people knowing about it, all the effort we've put into getting the word out? I don't know...but it was fabulous. I need to super make a dress tonight. And DAMN I can't get fresh gloves by Friday I'll just have to fix the ones I have, maybe try some stain remover(pencil marks all over one of them). I get to paint tomorrow :D YAY. I got that gold fabric for the backdrop of the painting...but I really want to use it for a book cover now....delema! Wait....I know what to use! TeeHee I'm all excited now! Guess it'll be a surprise ;) Oh and godlike being up there that must obviously surf the internet or why else would I put this here? Please don't let Gustav hit us. Word on a Wing Hoping this goes through... yay Semagic, cause there's no way I could post otherwise. I'm not ignoring comments or neglecting LJ, thing is that we got hit by a nasty bit of spyware on Friday or Sat, I forget which. We're working to fix the problem, and have made some progress. Well, Karen's made progress to be more correct. The computer keeps rebooting itself, and it's messed up our browsers pretty badly. All of them. However, I can still get to e-mail kinda sorta - on html mode- and WoW works just fine. So does itunes and all our other files and programs. It's not a virus, but a bit of spyware that messes up your computer to pretend you DO have a virus and make you pay for their special magic fix that just happened to appear on your desktop. Lovely. :P My Brother in law said that when he got one of these it took a few weeks to dig the bugger out, so we're not feeling too panicky about it cause we'll get it eventually and our files are fine. All the important Blue Gorgon stuff etc is here. I miss all the other stuff I usually check though. We'll get it fixed soon. Miss you guys! I'll do my best to catch up when it's all better. We had a lovely weekend though! Lots of birthdays all around. My Mom, my Sister, a friend here, Krishna... Happy Birthday after the fact to all! Still loving CO, and even starting to get used to the twining crazy roads. Gonna start looking for a new place, as well as a day job for me to help make ends meet while I build up BG. My eye is *really* bad right now though so I'm hoping I'll look more hire-able next week as well as able to see quite a lot better. ;P Busy busy busy! So, despite computer and money dramas, I'm remaining optimistic. :) Current Mood: crazyCurrent Music: Terry Pratchett - Feet of Clay |
