She wasn’t sure what she was expecting on the streets. Perhaps passersby here and there or maybe even the police waiting to take her home. But the open doors revealed the streets to be oddly empty and eerily quiet.

The air was warm, even humid, on her skin; the feeling of nausea washed over her and settled awkwardly on her skin. When she looked up at the sky, there was nothing except empty gray clouds that told nothing of the time. How odd, as the weather seemed unusually hot compared to the overcast skies.

As Inoue said, they were free now. No one had stopped them from escaping the hospital nor did anyone block their way. Yet the feeling that they were still being watched never left Momo. If anything, it felt as if this was only the beginning.

“We should look for help but…” The silence was deafening outside and not a sign of life was seen anywhere. This was not the Tokyo she knew; the city would never be quiet like this. 

“Where are we?”

 

Location: Yumisawa, eastern edge of the district.

A worn out storefront displays a number of appliances in the window, which is surprisingly still mostly intact, with only a crack or two. The sign has lost most of its letters, but it seems to have been an electronics store. The televisions are ancient black and white models, and are currently plugged in, all buzzing with static. There is a welcome mat out on the street, in front of the open double doors. A bit of light can be seen from inside, as well as the faint sound of music.

The Urahara Shop is open.

It wasn't quite... He woke with a shudder, eyes shooting open to take in the overcast clouds. He moved his hand to his erratically beating heart, trying to will a calm over himself. He must still be dreaming, he thought murkily, closing his eyes once more. His hand curled over the fabric covering his chest, another shudder running through him as his warmth was stolen by the cool surface beneath him. His bed certainly was not made of metal and it never creaked this way, almost as if it were moving...

He sat up and forced his eyes open once more, glancing down at the merry-go-round he was currently sitting upon before taking in the park playground around him. His brow furrowed as he tried to make sense of his situation in his slight daze- this place was not familiar in the slightest, and he was inclined to believe he truly was still sleeping. He moved to the edge of the merry-go-round and placed his feet down, bringing them immediately back up when the rough gravel hit the soles of his feet.

"What on earth..." he muttered, a bright blue color a few feet away catching his eye. Swinging his legs over once more he made his way to the object, walking gingerly on the gravel before reaching what appeared to be a shoulder bag and set of clothing. He reached for the clothing first, cocking his head slightly as he examined it. Some sort of kimono or robes - the light breeze permeating his pajamas was enough incentive to hope whoever owned these robes wouldn't mind them being borrowed for a bit, though by the looks of it it almost seemed like they were left there for him.

Shaking that thought from his mind (for now) he made his way to the slide, using it's slight protection to keep from view as he changed, if only to protect from the crisp air.

He was used to waking up in a sitting position, really -- used to being startled out of his daydreams by the sound of the boss's voice out in the hallway, and having to quickly gather his bearings and look busy before it could get any closer.

But the moment he tried to do that, Kazuo realized his mistake. There was no desk to shove himself off of, and his hands hit open air, almost overbalancing him. Almost making him fall.

Out of the tree. The tree that he was, for some reason, in.

Someone's backyard, his mind supplied. A wealthy someone, by the size of things. Nowhere near your office, or your building, or anything else you recognize at all.

Kazuo did the sensible thing, and began to hyperventilate.

Location: Komatsu; near the border of Mashiba

It was the startling coldness that first woke her, for she knew she had not left any windows open. Slowly did her eyes open, trying to grasp onto what had happened, though only confusion came forth. Clearly, this was not her bed, for her bed was not comprised of a rock garden, nor did she decorate with powdered white snow. So, where was she?

Upon investigation of the ground, her confusion only deepened. No tracks, no sighs of life, not a sound, nor a sight, and only the slight scent of some smell upon the air, yet everything seemed spotless, clean, almost as if waiting... Waiting for what though? She was not sure she wanted an answer.

The dim lights barely provided her with enough glow to make out the silhouettes before her, though still she looked. Row after row of old fashioned houses seemed to spread out, until the misty morning air seemed to swallow them up. Absolute stillness with nothing around, yet, there, from the corner of her eye, she spotted something out of place.

Beneath a formation of rock, were a cotton bag and a set of black robes. She could not help but scoff, wondering if it was someone's perverse idea of a sick fantasy, though the robes did look functional, and not fantastical. It was in the pink bag she look first, her frown only deepening. An apple, a persimmon, some water, cloth that appeared to be a coat of some sort, and a small flashlight. Brilliant. How about a phone or a map, heck, even a compass to her out of here?

Feeling the coolness of the air creep along her flesh and drawn goose bumps, she peered about, muttering something about perverts and punches to the face for peeping, before she snatched that strange black cotton robe. Yet, she looked at it, as if asking it for answers, wanting to know what was going on, why she was here, and what this all was about? The material felt strangely familiar, the shape and cut like a second skin, though she had never worn something like this before. Was it a karate uniform? Her nose wrinkled in distaste. It was either the robes or continuing to stand in the snowy atmosphere in her nightgown, so she slipped them on, for at least it was better than nothing. Now though the question remained what to do. Sit there forever and wait, or take the initiative?

Biting at her lower lip, she decided on the latter, and cautiously moved out.

If you're arriving in Karakura today, know that it was February 4th when you went to bed. What day it is now... well.

During the day, Karakura is overcast. The light is always grey and pale, no matter what the weather.

In Komatsu, snow is falling, and it is very cold. Even the floors inside are chilled. As the light fades, it will only get colder. (Fortunately, most of the buildings around you have fireplaces, and you should be able to scavenge some wood from tree branches outside or furniture inside.)

In Mashiba, it looks and feels like rain outside -- the clouds are heavy, and you can smell it on the air. In the afternoon, the clouds will burst, and a light drizzle will fall on the district, tasting faintly of ash. It's a little chilly outside.

In Tsubakidai, it's very warm outside. You can feel the sun on your skin, in spite of the grey sky.

In Yumisawa, the air is crisp but not too cold. Oddly, the trees around you seem to be losing their leaves, as if in early autumn.

The reishi in Karakura is fairly stable today. The density of spirit particles is much higher than you're used to, and everyone with any kind of sixth sense should be able to tell, even if they aren't sure what it means. (The air feels electric, alive; it almost buzzes on your skin, and you feel energized. But because of the pollution of the reishi, you also feel a little manic, like you might be sick, or like you have to do something with this excess energy.) After you're more accustomed to Karakura, you won't notice this level of reishi, but newcomers surely will.

Lights and most other forms of electricity are working, where you have them. Phones, televisions, computers, and anything else that could communicate with the outside world, however, are not functioning today.

There is no miasma. Yet.

This arc will last for two weeks, starting February 23rd and ending on March 9th. Everyone has to participate in a comment log before then, or they will receive a strike! But if you're accepted after March 2nd, we won't hold it against you if you don't post until Arc 1: Night.

Hello, everyone, and welcome to k_a_r_a_k_u_r_a -- a very different sort of Bleach RPG. In the ruined town of Karakura, every day is a struggle for survival against the violent ghostly denizens, and alliances formed between total strangers (and they are strangers, aren't they?) may mean the difference between life and death.

Your character has been reborn, human and helpless; deep down, he or she is still who they once were, but hidden beneath the layers of a new life, a new family, a new past. Remembering who they used to be may not be pleasant or even painless -- but it will be necessary, if they wish to wield more than stolen cutlery or wooden planks against the strange creatures known as Zeroes.

Will you escape this town? Will the Zeroes overwhelm and consume you?

We are brand-new, and very much in need of talented players. Although we want absolutely everyone, we only need five or so characters to start the game properly.
