FYI..., JUSTJEWIT is now a personal journal. Yes, I know they say you can't convert communities back to journals anymore. Thats not my problem, thats theirs..., I'm using it as a personal journal ANYWAY.

If you'd like to continue on with what was going on before when this was a community..., I've created a place to do that. Livejournal has become so dead anyway..., it won't really be a concern aye!

No Anti-semetism or hate or flaming of ANY kind, that will get you the axe 'banned' Oh...so fast!

As is obvious, this is a jewish community focused around things jewish. Explaining, describing, defining and generally discussing about anything related to jews, culturally, socially, or otherwise is what we're about. So, if you aren't jewish...this is the perfect place to learn about anything that we jews do.

Just so there are no arguments or misunderstandings, in this community we recognize a person as jewish if 'either' of their parents are jewish. And the short historical below will suffice as an explanation. Thus questioning someone's legitimacy and/or disputing observance, is hereby muted. Don't vocalize or go there.

In the Tenakh, G-d, recognized all those as Jew who were from the Patronimical line or Father's line, that is part of the reason all the genealogies are listed.
After an event in the mishnaic period, the rabbi's made the shift because of the rampant rapes by roman soldiers and started following the Matronimical, or Mother's line.
Originally, the first Jew was recognized by G-d as such by the 'condition of his heart'. That was Abraham and he was a Babylonian, Sarah was I think Cannonite, and because she was so faithful..., and the Mother usually has a lot of influence, some bend scripture a assert it from the Mother's line as a result.
Abraham became a Hebrew when he crossed over. Hebrew means generally crossed over. So, G-d recognizes the male line and is the only one who can trully know 'the condition of the heart'. Others, well, do what they will...and it becomes a tradition. I prefer to follow the dictates of the unchanging G-d myself. Shalom

If you want to advertise, solely for the purpose of advertising...there are communities designed for that purpose. Or do that in your personal journal please and then ask/link TO YOUR JOURNAL in a relevant, community based, on topic post after you've gained permission and then be active herein.

Becoming a member out of the blue, and advertising without first being an active participant IN the community seems in the least a bit rude don't ya think. And otherwise states that you don't want to be a constructive part of the community and only want to USE the community.
