Be careful what you put in your pants

A man recently got caught with lobsters down his pants. Luckily, this was in California and those were San Diego lobsters--trust me when I say this, you do not want to put Maine lobsters down your pants.

Last night's Red Sox game was great, even though they lost and I couldn't stay up all eleven innings. The game was on cable and on a weekend, so I don't know why it couldn't start earlier. Dustin Pedroia hit two home runs, and I guess that wasn't enough.

It's voting time again... vote here, vote for this entry, yada yada yada.

In last Thursday's Drawing I class, we started doing gesture drawings, and I was one of four students who posed during class. In the past, Ed liked to have the models alternate between male and female students, but I am one of only two male students in the class, so there wasn't much choice there. My modeling was universally praised by everyone else;  a couple of the females compared some of my poses to those of action heroes, and one said that some looked like something from "300". However, in terms of male movie stars, I felt more like Rock Hudson than Gerard Butler. Meanwhile, those who modeled were given a stick to use as a prop, so with having to change poses every minute or so, the Sesame Street segment where Robin Williams showed Elmo things to do with a stick started flashing through my head, and once class ended, I had to find it on YouTube.

I'm glad that the Red Sox won Game 1 of the American League Championship Series. To my amazement, last night's game was closer than I thought. I didn't hear the entire game, however, since I was tired by eleven, and at that point I had my radio on sleep.

I caught up with LJ yesterday, and then ignored it for the rest of the day. I hadn't gotten a lot of sleep and I was just too tired to read. I ended up running some errands instead. When I got home, I watched tv and knitted. Then, I took some Ambien and went to bed early because I had to be up early today. I'm going to Wisconsin again this weekend and I had to get up early. They want people up in Racine by nine o'clock because they're trying to get people to vote early.

Oh...and I had a pretty weird dream last night, probably because of the Ambien. I dreamt my sister and I were young and living at my parents' house again. We were in our basement and we saw this snake slither past us. We stayed out of its way and just watched it go on its merry way (as if a snake in our basement were completely normal). Afterwards, we got up and walked around. The snake started to follow us. As it slithered, it oozed this green colored water behind it. Weird. Then, we looked across the room to the other side of the basement, and saw this green colored water on the floor. It was seeping out from behind one of the walls. We figured that there was a nest of snakes behind the wall or something. We called our parents downstairs. There was a puddle of water there, and it managed to short out the computer that was sitting on the floor by it. The computer started smoking and we were afraid to touch it, but we managed to turn it off and get it unplugged. My parents came downstairs and asked what was going on. Up until that point, we thought that the green water resulted from natural causes, but as soon as my parents showed up a white vase came sailing across the room crashed into the wall next to me, shattering into pieces. That's when I thought, hmm...I think this is a pissed off spirit or a poltergeist. My family was all for egging it on to see if they could get it to react like that again in order to prove what it was, but I discouraged them from doing it. I figured that we had enough proof already. Why piss it off some more? My reaction to it wasn't so much fear as it was, "Oh bother. Let's just go upstairs and ignore it. Maybe it will get bored and go away."

Before I went upstairs, I saw my cat, [info]cosettemonster, walk across the basement in the green puddles. I picked her up, took her upstairs, and washed her paws off in the case that the water had something toxic in it if she licked her paws. I also saw Mittens and Baby (mine and my sister's old cats) as well as [info]arwenmonster up there.

Later, I woke up and decided to write it down. It was a very off the wall dream.

Posted by [info]kelli_bashton on 2008.10.11 at 06:46

My home state just legalised gay marriage. It would have been an even bigger thrill to be the first state to do so legislatively, but a judicial victory will have to do.

It's that time of year again.

Regardless of how I feel about others, or how others feel about me, I have never had any trouble uniting with people over baseball, especially during the postseason; even once things fell apart for me in civil engineering, I was able to unite with classmates during last year's playoffs. Whether it's discussing the potential of Jacoby Ellsbury, wondering where Alex Rodriguez will play the next season, or debating whether Kenny Rogers had an illegal substance on his hand, there's never a shortage of bonding material. If my mother, who does not follow sports at all, can be happy when a player--a complete stranger to her--wins the World Series MVP, there must be something good about playoff baseball.
