Welcome to Just Tanka. This is a community for posting tanka and engaging in tanka dialogue. I've been looking for a place to just post and read tanka without all of the academic babble that often accompanies and degrades otherwise great tanka websites.
Section 1 - Safety Rules
1. Please avoid images and language that could be considered pornographic. If you have a great tanka that is explicitly sexual or erotic in nature please place it behind an lj cut. See Livejournal's FAQ in the help section if you don't know how to place an entry behind an lj cut. Ultimately the moderator will use his best judgment and delete posts that cross the line. Members will be informed if a post has been deleted.
2. Do not advertise another livejournal community or group, another website, or any other such thing. Any such post will be deleted.
3. Refrain from being hurtful to others. Flame posts, even in the form of tanka, will be deleted if they offer nothing more than hurtfulness.
Section 2
1. All posts must contain a tanka, a group of unrelated tanka, or a sequence of tanka.
2. Posts may include a prose preface to give some context or to enhance the quality of the tanka. Posts may also include an image preface, but please see Section 1 of the rules.
2. Tanka posted does not have to have been written by the author of the post, but if that is the case credit must be given to the source. If a tanka is posted in translation, please include the translator. Tanka and/or translations not credited are assumed to be the work of the author of the post.
3. Tanka may be posted in English or Japanese. These are the only languages that I am familiar enough with to manage. If you would like to post tanka in another language let me know, but you may be recruited the moderator for tanka in that language.
4. Debate about the nature of tanka is welcome and encouraged, but with the following guidelines. If you wish to critique another's tanka you must do so by revising the original or by adding your own similar tanka to the original to create a sequence. Do not write out what is wrong with the tanka explicitly, and do not write a critique that describes the faults of a tanka in the form of a tanka.
5. I highly encourage tanka dialogue, or sequences, where one post builds upon another. If you wish to engage in this, there is no need to repost the original tanka in your post. Likewise if you are joining an established sequence or dialogue there is no need to repost all that has transpired before your post.
6. If you absolutely must say something to an author of a post, but can't do it through tanka, please email the author, or write them in their own journal.
Section 3
1. Have fun.
2. Don't take anything too seriously.
