Somebody wouldn’t stop honking their damn horn and it was about to give Justin a headache.  His shift was over and all he wanted to do was get in his car and go back to his apartment then for a swim in the gulf.   The horn honking got louder and more rhythmic and Justin looked up and over his shoulder trying to find the idiot who was making all the noise.  His face turned a little pink when he realized that the idiot honking his horn was doing so to get Justin’s attention and that it was Dr. Chasez.  Justin stopped walking and turned toward the car as Dr. Chasez pulled up beside him.

“Hey Justin, um deep in thought were you?”  JC asked with a grin.  Justin couldn’t help noting how cute Dr Chasez looked with his hair all wind blown from riding in his Jeep Wrangler without the top on.

“Sorry, long day.” Justin replied as smiled back at JC and shifted his back pack to his other shoulder.  “What’s up?”

“Well Joey mentioned to me today that in my inebriated state, a couple of weeks ago, I forgot to invite you to the barbeque I am having at my house tomorrow night.  I know it is short notice, but I was hoping you might be able to come.”  JC asked as he ran his hand threw his hair trying to create some order to his curls.   “It will be fun, just a few friends and a friendly dog. It’s to celebrate summer starting. So do you think you would like to come? “ 

Justin tried to control his immediate reaction, which was to lean into the jeep and kiss the good doctor square on the lips and sigh “I would love to” just like a school girl.  Instead Justin settled for a slight step in the direction of the jeep and a sincere ear to ear smile.  “That sounds like fun.  What time do you want me there and can I bring anything.”

JC smiled in return and rubbed his hands along his steering wheel. “Great, I am glad that you can come.  I was afraid that you might have plans already seeing that it is Friday.  How about around 6:30 and if you want you can bring a cooler with some ice.  I will provide the rest, unless you are real picky about your beer, city boy.” JC chuckled as he said the “city boy” part with a thick southern twang.

Justin grinned and groaned at the teasing.  “Ok, well I will be there then.  See you tomorrow Dr um JC.”  Justin turned to continue to walk to his car.  When he saw out of the corner of his eye that JC’s jeep was rolling slowly along beside him and he heard JC clear his throat.  Justin stopped again and turned toward the jeep.

“Would you like to know my address?  Unless you have been stalking me and already know where I live and even have a favorite parking spot to watch me cut up potatoes for dinner.”  JC was smiling brightly at Justin, the doctors blue eyes were twinkling with laughter. 

Justin felt his face heat up again. This man could so easily unnerve Justin and make him behave like a blushing teenager.  Justin needed to get a grip on his reaction to this man.

“Like you even know how to peel potatoes” Justin said as he forced himself to make eye contact with JC.  Justin almost felt himself shudder as JC held his gaze steady with Justin's.  JC laughed.  Then he reached into his glove compartment and got out a note pad and quickly scribbled down his address and phone number. 

“I put my phone number on there in case you need some help finding it.  Have a good night Justin and I am glad that you can come.”  JC handed Justin the paper and as their fingers brushed against each other JC winked at Justin.  “Remember it is an island so if you hit water you’ve gone too far” With that said JC peeled out and drove away, leaving Justin staring after him.

The next day Justin was excited and nervous about going to JC’s house.  He hadn’t really seen much of JC socially since that one night at the dock.  The rest of them had met up a couple of other times, but unfortunately JC was never able to make it.  There was some mention about a “Casey” in reference as to why JC couldn’t make it once and the other times he was on call. It might have been Justin’s imagination, but he could have sworn he caught JC looking at him in the hospital. When their eyes would meet JC would blush a little and nod at Justin. Justin would almost physically tremor from those brief looks.   There were those nights when Justin would step out onto his balcony and just miss JC as he jogged along on the beech.  Justin was hoping that Casey was JC’s dog and not a girlfriend or a boyfriend for that matter.  Justin still wasn’t sure if he was just imagining the pull of those deep blue eyes when they met across a crowded corridor.  Justin laughed at himself at how silly he was being. 

After changing clothes three times Justin finally decided on his favorite Hurley board shorts with color block design with blue, black and white plaid strips along the back waist and sides.  He paired that with a royal blue ‘wife-beater’ that matched the shorts and brought out the blue in his eyes.  Justin felt he looked good.  He wanted to make an impression on Dr Chasez tonight.</lj-cut>
