Visual-kei in a English Mag!!

I found this magazine called POPJNEO and it had a review of Phantasmagoria, Jinkaku Radio, Uchuu Sentai NOIZ, etc. at the KINGDOM ROCK SHOW in HIBIYA!! And the cool thing is that the whole interview is in ENGLISH!! And it has a bunch of bad ass pics of the whole bands taken during the event!! I've never seen any pics of this event so I thought it was rare! (At least that's what I thought, lol)
I'd up some pics, but my stupid old scanners not working... X _ X

JROCK PANEL MOVED TIMES!!!!





(! Bumped the entry up so that it would be visible !) The jrock panel is now on Saturday NIGHT at 10PM-12AM in between breakdown of cosplay and the setting up of the dance! So we're in PRIME TERRITORY to get lots of people! I want to sit around and organize some volunteers to make this an awesome event!

Who wants to meet for tea on May 3rd, Thursday night around 6-9PM???? I live in Cary~~ and we'll have the meeting at my house. So if you wanna come and you don't know where I live, let me know and I'll get you directions! I look forward to seeing some people I haven't seen yet!

Hey kids! Good news-- Eric (scheduling genius of animazement) said we can have whatever we want as a time slot ;OOOOO he even said he has confidence in us to run a whole track by ourselves lol but I'm not doing that.

So we get Friday night and what about Saturday 12PM-2PM for the panel?

Does anyone think it should be a different time?

We're all going to be dead one way or another.

Tea Party : Relocation?


OK-- i hope that this will be the last time i bring this up-- but as for the tea party-- we're looking at January 5th (FRIDAY) evening or afternoon, but instead of at the tea place (and paying $18 per person) would it be OK if people wanna just gather at my place? RSVP with your e-mail below and i will send you info on how to get to my house-- and if you wanna bring anything to contribute.

TEA PARTY!!!

JROCK NC TEA PARTY PLAN!


OK-- ****CHANGE-- Who wants to do it in January? If we want to do it in January I would say let's aim for the 7th (Saturday I think) PLEASE VOTE!!! THE DATE IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE -- So save this conversation in your bookmarks!!! --, and speak up if you can't do this. I was looking at a tea house in raleigh (it looks super cute) and it's located near North Hills Mall off of Six Forks Road. If you need a ride and live in the area, we can arrange all that. We can actually rent out this place after hours (past 4PM) and have it all to ourselves. But I wanna know if there is enough of us to hang out and we can go over what I want to do with the panel and just chit-chat. I can show you all new videos or whatever you wanna do.

Dress: I want everyone to dress up nice-- like anything from semi-formal to a lolita dress. Just look nice. No cosplay or anything-- but if you have specific questions, post them here.

Happy Halloween!

Hi hi kids! We've seem to have multiplied in a short amount of time!

I have some ideas I'd like to throw around with you all about next year's panel. But first off-- I redid our layout! So now that we're up to date and in the spirit-- I want to discuss-- and I want feedback from ANY and ALL members possible!

If by chance we expand into doing the dance again on Friday night, and then doing a panel either Friday or Saturday midday-- I was wondering who would be interested in being a volunteer waiter or waitress/butler or maid type of server during the entirety of the panel/dance?

It's just an idea in order to not waste all the food and drinks we prepare for these events-- and it's also something to do during the panel since most volunteers don't need to do much-- and I don't want you to feel useless!!!! But anyways-- Let me know and if you have any ideas/suggestions, fire away!

Happy Halloween everyone! Maybe we could plan a meet-up sometime ^^;

IN ONE WEEK . . .
the con begins ;O!

we go on at 1:30AM on friday night. we are technically a dance and the MAIN EVENT for the night.

i am making 9 white armbands and bringing safety pins-- whoever is "on duty" for WHATEVER needs to wear one in order to be counted as my staff. we can switch off duties so that no one is stuck in one place all night. here are the following staff positions:

- drink server : pours drinks and keeps track of the drink table

- prize/contest manager : helps go around explaining any prize/contest questions as well as making sure the winners of the contests get their prizes

- general crowd control : people who either help encourage the crowd to dance or participate; making sure that if you spot any foul play/stealing that you get security involved; watch out for potentially stupid things going on + notify security;


i also need things to be done prior to coming-- and i have a shopping list in which i need everyone to either confirm or say that they will bring it-- if you all bring reciepts for anything you purchase i may be able to get compensation for you all by the end of the con as well:

- cups! all the same size-- so i wanna say something like 12 or 16 oz. whoever is buying decides the standard.

- ice in big coolers (Nosha + whoever and I will make sure to bring our big cooler to the con)

- snacks (finger food like chex mix or cereal? Nosha was talking about doing rice crispy treats-- and i think that's a great idea. if other people can do this, we can bring a crapload and cut them up to put out.)

- napkins (a shit ton of them kids.)

- decorations ** HIGHLY OPTIONAL (I'm bringing some freestanding candle lights-- like the ones you see in peoples windows around x-mas -- but feel free to bring any sort of fabrics for the tables or the stage. we have a lot to decorate if you are interested. any sort of screens or odd looking jrock-ish things are welcome. or if you just have a massive thing of roses lol doesn't matter to me!)


i promise that all my staff members who help will be given some sort of gift for helping out. i always try to be fair-- and i want to make sure EVERYONE has a fuckin' wonderful time!

OPINIONS PLEASE . . .

Okay! we are 2 months away! OMG X_x i wanna know if any of you think it's OK to change some stuff:

[a] cut out the entire dubbing thing (that isn't even a question, we just aren't gonna do it again)

[b] cut out food? but still do drinks for free?

[c] insert a few jpop/kpop stuff? the reason i'm asking is because we're taking over the dance, i need to kind of do SOMETHING to make up for the fact that there is no dance this year-- or maybe even make a stint of like an hour or two for a "dance"-- though it won't be as seamless as a rave-- because we're dealing with video so there is definite silent buffer between videos.

[d] dance contests-- one revival of gackt (or maybe vanilla live???? ;X SCANDALESS!), kotani kinya (gravitation boy), and my tribute to psycho le cemu (gekai merry go round)-- these again make up for the fact that there is no dance]

[e] to have multiple people going around and taking photos-- we only had lebda doing it last time, and i think torame took a few-- but i want to get more range-- and i also would love to have my staff wear something that makes them obvious as staff-- not necessarily anything big-- maybe matching armbands??? i just need to know who all is helping! or maybe matching bandanas?

[f] raffle! i need people to do me a big-fuckin' favor. someone go buy a spool of tickets-- like the kinds with different numbers on them-- i think you can go to sam's or bj's or something to get them. we'll reimburse you if we can! i will try my damndest!

[g] i need to figure out where i put torame's dry erase board x_x i gave it to someone and now i can't remember who. if not, i think i'll bring mine or just a big-ass drawing pad to write on. THINK I SHOULD MAKE A SCHEDULE? like post a relative schedule of when we're doing the dance contests, music videos, dance, etc? let me know what you think!



OTHER BUSINESS . . . can anyone possibly help me beg for donations??? i don't even care if they're anime stuff (since i'm doing donations for animazement as a whole as well) but let me know! i really really need people to just start e-mailing online stores and stuff! there is a post in the journal i posted a while ago with a message you all can just COPY AND PASTE into an e-mail and e-mail people with. I REALLY REALLY APPRECIATE THIS!

NEW JROCK PANEL BUSINESS!



UPDATES ON OUR PANEL SITUATION! :: We are now OFFICIALLY going to be in the ballroom and taking over the has-been "Friday Night Dance"! This means we are in a room about five times bigger than last year! NO "TOO CROWDED" COMPLAINTS! BUT! This means we have new rules and new issues to deal with. How are we going to get it all organized-- how are we running raffles and things-- and how are we doing any sort of games/activities throughout the panel again.

The con has agreed to help subsidise(sp?) the food/let them know how much we spend on it and they will either pay for it, or pay us back. My take is that we will not charge for food or drink this year. Secondly, I need (perhaps) a few more volunteers-- so if you haven't EVER talked/commented to me in this livejournal or otherwise, please do so and I'll be making out a list of stuff we need to get done and have some of you go ahead and do that.

So improvements from last year-- I need to know exactly what sucked about what we did last year. I need to know if we need to change stuff etc-- evidentally a lot of our issues are cured by being in a big room with no stairs and better lighting (we get colorful dance floor lights now!)


SO Let me know! Comment here! PLEASE-- I need to know who's participating again this year!

Hi-- I'm with the Jrock Panel from Animazement (www.animazement.org) an
anime convention in Durham, North Carolina. We were wondering whether or not
you would be kind enough to think about donating a few small things to
raffle at our panel. We are trying to spread the awareness of Japanese Rock
styles, fashion, and music to the anime con-goers for this convention. This
is a massive event for us and takes up the entire night. We generally have
an attendance of 150+ people at one point in time. We hand out flyers (which
will be either flyers you send us with the items you donate) or we can print
your store logo/address onto our flyers that we hand out.
Please consider donating just a few items-- there is no minimum and no
maximum. It's entirely up to you. And any little thing honestly helps! We
love to get people involved by giving away prizes as well as promoting

i've asked them for 2 speakers and maybe some form of a budget for next year-- and i know we're getting 2 speakers instead of that retarded one in that one corner that made the room only half loud and half quiet-- so we're going to have a kick-ass year next year. i need people to start helping me find a list of websites who may be able to donate items (jrock related or gothic lolita/fruitsy clothing) to the panel for next year! you can either type up your own request, or i'll post one for you all.

i'm also going to start compiling new jrock pvs-- please post any new videos from bands you KNOW have come out recently and i'll try to find them. just comment on here or make a post about it.

i don't want to wait 'til the last minute this year-- not like i did last year-- but i just know that this is such a big event that we do need to plan ahead of time. we also may want to up the number of staff this year-- so if you know anyone we can trust-- point them in the direction of this community. i really do want to make it better this year-- and make sure we push that raffle a lot more than we did also.

thank you all again soooo much for helping out this past year! it was really fun and i'm glad we got all under control-- it's a lot of work-- and i hope i can compensate you guys again this year by letting you all have first picks at prizes again ^^ as well as foodage lol

Jrock Panel Jobs?

ANIMAZEMENT MEETING: PLEASE JOIN US IN THE LOBBY OF THE SHERATON AT 7PM, WE'LL HAVE DINNER TOGETHER AND DISCUSS HOW THE PANEL WILL GO AND GET TASKS TOGETHER. YOU'LL FIND US 'CAUSE WE'LL ALL BE IN JROCK OUTFITS ^^-- THE PANEL BEGINS AT 9PM SO WE HAVE TO SET UP A LITTLE BEFORE THEN.

ok kiddies, it be coming close to crunch time. 2 weeks 'til the panel.

i need people to help me out with positions below, though i think some of you already know what the poo you're doing for me:

2 People- coffee/tea attendants (we'll call you the caffine bunnies): you need to help either bring a coffee maker and/or tea or coffee to make during the panel. someone also should bring cups-- i'll try to bring a batch (they should be foam). you'll be responsible for making the tea/coffee as well as collecting money for it ($.50 a cup sound fair?) so NO BIG HUGE cups! also, making sure that the coffee/tea doesn't end up burny or something.

beijipan - bring some tea
katie - bring some caffineys
andrew (my brother) - be a tea attendant for the earlier part of the night




1 Person- message updater : you will either help bring a dry erase board or get one and bring it to the panel. your job will be to update a board we place outside with what will be showing on the screen at the time.

torame - bring message board + udpate ^^




2 People+- num-num runners : you will be responsible for the "cafe-esque" feature of the panel, where we will run out to some fast food restaurants (close by) and take orders from the kids at the panel who would like food as well. there won't be a lot of runs to make-- no more than 3. you will also get paid extra to do this-- i know it takes gas and effort. so we'll add about $1.50 onto each order (approximate how much you'll need from them) and we'll just round up. we all know combos from most places are about $5-- so charge about $7 for the trouble lol we'll work on it more after i know who's doing this. (oh yeah, you need a car too lol- but we'll send you with passengers to help carry things.)

2 People +- teh bouncers : i need some folk to go around the panel and make sure no one is FUCKING SLEEPING during the panel. it'll be your responsibility to tell anyone who is asleep to kindly go back to their rooms for the night if they can't stay awake. we'll also need you to go around every once in a while and take a trash bag to ask anyone if they have anything they need thrown away and just to pick up any loose garbage laying around. you'll help me deal with any situations that need to be dealt with in terms of attendees to the panel.

i'm gonna try to recruit a big dude friend to help me with this lol just to look scary...

cody! - he'll be there to scare people




2 People +- teh important raffle bunnies : you'll stand around the door (inside probably) and you'll have permanent markers. you will number off people according to when they came in. you know -- start with 1 and then go to 2.. etc. we're going to do this by using a sheet saying how many you've marked through-- so if you go for an amount of time doing 1, 2, 3 + and you get to like 26-- you mark 1-26, and then during down time you will write that with your marker on small sheets of paper i'll provide. the raffle bunnies will have different colored markers. so you will get two sets of numbers that run 1, 2, 3+ -- that way we can color code it and not have to confuse anyone doing this.

i will try to bring most of it unless you all can help me out.

in the case that we do have to end at 3/4AM-- i'll try to talk to the cleaning crew about coming in and letting us back in when they're done. so we can continue. animazement may or may not let us. they told me they want a "break" before the morning panels, but that means it's boring time 'til the morning panels start. so i'll definately talk with the staff about it on thursday. so it's indefinite as to how long we'll run.

i need AT LEAST the amount of people i posted beside each of the jobs up above-- you can do more than one job if you want! thank you all for helping out. whatever money we make back goes to the people who spent money on the panel to chip in. thanks!
