AboutHi, and welcome to the Jonny Quest: The Real Adventures LJ community! This is a companion LJ to the semi-retired JQ:TRA Website. Someone wrote asking if I would set up a message board, and I thought, I don't have the brainpower to do that... but I can set up an LJ community!:D
GROUND RULES
1. Be nice to each other. That means no flaming. It's OK to criticize each other's opinions, but no personal attacks. For example - "Your theory about the origin of Rock People stinks" is OK, but "You stink" is not. (FYI, as mod I reserve the right to lock and/or delete threads that are getting out of hand.)
2. Trading episodes and scans is not allowed. All rights to Jonny Quest in North America are currently owned by Time Warner, and the distro of episodes, comic books, and other official JQ stuff in digital form is considered piracy and could get us in a lot of trouble. (or at the very least get this comm shut down.) So... sorry. Not in this comm.
3. No spam. Please take your herbal Viagra and mortgage refi ads elsewhere, they will be deleted as soon as the mod sees them. However, if you're selling a JQ-related item, you may advertise your item(s) ONCE and only ONCE. Be advised that the moderator hereby disclaims any responsibility for transactions carried out between individuals through this list. That means if someone advertises a mint condition Gold Key issue that turns out to be a photocopy, for example, it's not our fault. Caveat emptor!
4. Advertising other comms is OK, as long as they're related to JQ (RPGs, classic cartoons, etc.) But only one ad per comm, please.
FANWORK
Fanwork (art/fic) is OK, but please put it behind an LJ-cut to save flists. How to do this:
1. at the beginning of whatever you want to cut, type "<lj-cut>" (without the quotes)
2. at the end of the thing you want to cut, type type "</lj-cut>" (without the quotes)
3. by default, the text shown will be ( "Read more..." ) but if you want to customize it, just do the following:
<lj-cut text="[customized text]"> [content] </lj-cut>
and the text shown will appear as ( [content] )
Easy, isn't it? Now there's no reason not to do it!^_^
When posting fanwork, please note if it is [fic] or [art] in the post subject. Some people don't read fic and some don't look at fanart. Also, as a courtesy to others, please note a rating for your fic or art outside the cut. Some of us are easily traumatized.^_^
Finally, let's agree on one thing: There is no single definitive canon for the various incarnations of JQ over the past 30-40 years. So please note the continuity your fic or art follows. Even if you're posting a Great Unifying Fic that will unify all the different incarnations, note down the continuities.
And with that - Quest on!
