jpop_awards. This community is a weekly icon competition where users submit j-pop related icons based on a specific theme: a description, quote, song lyric, or base. Each icon will then be voted on by the community members, and winners will be chosen and awarded!
R u l e s
1. Each member may submit up to two icons per week. All icons must be created by the member submitting, and must feature a JAPANESE singer/group. J-rock icons ARE also permitted, seeing as in Japan the two catergories are interchangeable.
2. All icons must be related to the given theme, and must adhere to LiveJournal's requirements [100x100 pixels in size and no bigger than 40k].
3. All icons must be hosted on a server that allows direct linking, such as PhotoBucket or a personal domain.
4. Icons can be older OR brand new, as long as they fit the requirements and are by you.
5. Do not use the icon that you entered the contest with for ANYTHING until voting is OVER. It can influence someone's vote, whether you mean to or not.
6. Do not vote for an icon just because it's flashy or animated. Vote because you think the icon is really the best. Keep in mind that a good icon is creative, colorful (at times), and overall good to look at. Also, do not vote for yourself. It's incredibly lame.
7. No icons will be accepted after the given deadline. A reminder will be given each week, but you have to make it on your own as well.
S u b m i t t i n g
Icons are submitted by replying to the post indicated. DO NOT try to start a new post. Respond in the following format:

[name of the j-pop star on your icon]
S c h e d u l e
-A new theme will be given every Sunday night, after the winners from the previous contest are announced.
-After the new theme is announced, members have until 5pm EST on the following Friday to submit their icons. No icons will be accepted after the deadline.
-Voting is from Friday evening at 5pm EST to Sunday at 5pm EST. Winners will be posted shortly after [within a few hours time].
V o t i n g
-When it is indicated by a new post, all icon entries for the week will be displayed. Members are to vote on their top 3 choices, and then vote on which icon they feel is the most creative in relation to the theme. You must make your votes in order of importance. An example would be:
1st Choice: number of the icon
2nd Choice: number of the icon
3rd Choice: number of the icon
Most Creative: number of the icon
Just like at
jrock_awards, the icon that you voted as your first choice gets 3 points, the icon that you voted as second choice gets 2 points, and the icon that you chose as third place will get 1 point. This will usually alleviate any ties that may come to pass. In special cases a tie might still occur, and in these instances, the mods will decide which icon will win; the other will become the "Left Behind" icon. Each time someone votes for the Most Creative category, the icon will earn 1 point. The icon with the most points will become the Most Creative winner. You are allowed to vote for the same icon as being one of the top 3 AND vote for it as Most Creative, too. Once all the votes are tallied, the winners will be announced. W i n n i n g
-Banners will be awarded for first, second, and third place winners, along with a a "Most Creative" winner and a "Left Behind" winner, who will be chosen by the moderator. That category is for an icon that I feel was very good, but did not receive the recognition that it deserved.
