MindMapping for Democracy
I'm pleased to announce a campaign within LiveJournal to raise money for John Kerry and the Democrats. From today until the November election, all contributions to LJMindMap.com not only get the same custom color MindMap, but now every penny of these contributions will go to John Kerry's campaign. Get ready for what is probably the most important election of your life so far. It will take Everyone's vote to make America stronger at home, and respected again in the world.

I will use this LJ post to report on how our small contributions gather into a powerful tool--money--which the Democrats need and use to make sure every voice is heard. I remember many Presidental elections, but none were ever this important. I believe the choice is between prudence and wrecklessness. If we continue on the politics of fear and smear, we're going to fear a smeared up world... a world that doesn't trust America and can't respect it. Please vote for John Kerry.

And click here and order your own MindMap. Wait for the free one, or bump in some PayPal for a color one, and know you helped unite America again.
_____

EDIT: Thanks to everyone contributing so far. Together we have raised... $98.29! That beats a kick in the head, don't you agree??? Almost a HUNDRED BUCKS. These peeps made it possible:

[info]g3k, [info]mstevens, [info]raincreature, [info]jhulten, [info]gaaneden, [info]activegnome, [info]jenk, [info]ladynemesis, [info]relativeaffect, [info]songster, [info]olus, [info]sexychicken, [info]makaidiver, [info]babyomlet, [info]quentincoyote, [info]rainkatt, [info]fiamma!

SECOND EDIT: WOW! Over $400! This money will go to the National Democratic Party in states where John Kerry's message must be strongest. America can be principled in peace and justice. America is not about wreckless governance and bully tactics. John Kerry reflects our values. THESE PEOPLE HAVE ALSO CONTRIBUTED SO FAR:

i have an emotionally rife relationship with paypal.

but i am registered to vote, even though it's not in a particularly swing-able state (MA), and i gave $50 to Kerry a couple months ago.

does that count for colors, or can you tell me some other way to get you money that gets me colors and goes to Kerry?

Wow, what a cool idea!!! :D Of course, I am a flaming liberal, so I'm all for supporting the Kerry campaign. But seriously, I really admire your creative approach toward working for change. (To be clear, I respect those whose opinions differ but who've commented below in a civil manner as well.) But there is all too much apathy and despair out there; people who want to see change, but are not actively working toward it. So it is refreshing to see someone contributing their talents in a positive way to help drive change. And the mindmap is very cool.

(Another of my favorite ideas in this vein is Working Assets, the phone company. If you haven't heard of them, you should check them out.)

Anyway ... but onto the real point of this post: I've ordered a mindmap, and I've also donated. It wasn't clear to me from the site if the donation would be linked to my order, so I just wanted to let you know, because I'd really like the cool colored version. :-)

Thanks and thanks for doing this!

It's good that you're doing this, but the money you make from this will only be a fraction of what gets donated from huge companies across the nation. Only certain campaign monies are fixed, soft money is never fixed. The Kerry campaign is not going to run out of money, a major party never runs out of money. Some one from a third party would. I would take that money and get voter awareness up and educate people on the importance of voting. yes, I'm a registered democrate. This will be my second presidential election ever (i'm 22), and i vote in a community building.

I can't contribute any money, but you did say to contact you if I am registered. I am, and am glad to vote for Kerry. I believe Bush has not been a bad president, but let's face it, he wasn't a good one. I hope Kerry can rebuild America's reputation as a sound, respectable country, and get rid of our current warmongering status. Just thought you should know that I and all my friends support your cause, and are behind you all the way!

i got a mind map a few days ago, and just now got around to posting it in my lj. that's how i got the link here. unfortunately, i don't have a credit card.
i registered as soon as i turned 18. this will be my first election, and i'm proud to vote for kerry. unfortunately, i live in a west texas town [san angelo], so bush will win my state overrall.
my boyfriend and about 3 of his friends weren't registered, so one day i made them all go to the library and register. i'm also single-handidly responsible for educating them about the candidates and their policies, and i'm happy to report they'll all be voting for kerry also.
[before i get mean notes, i didn't put a michael moore-esque spin on things, i just gave them news reports. it's not my fault bush's policies don't favor working class minorities, which all of them are.]
