Tutorial 003: Hermione Granger
Please remember that this tutorial was used to guide and help other iconmakers. Try not to copy it step by step and make out your own techiniques. Everybody loves originality. =D A lot of people asked for a tutorial for the Hermione icon I made in the batch of HP icons I made earlier, and because
_red_rain_drops was nice enough to ask, okay. <3
Today; we shall create this icon:

Tutorial 003: Hermione Granger
1. First off I set started with a nifty base of Hermione. HP: POA screencaps are credit to
teh_indy.

2. I created a new layer and flood filled it with the #FFE3CA color; although any skintone color would do well. Set the layer to "Overlay". Opacity 24%.

3. Duplicate the base image and then drag it on top of the first two layers; then desaturate. Set the layer to "Soft Light". Opacity 100%.

4. I filled it with this gradient by
crumblingwalls
: Set it to "Soft Light". Opacity 100%, unfortunately I still found it the wrong shade so I duplicated the layer and set the opacity of the second one to 24%.

5. Another new layer with this gradient
crumblingwalls
: Set to "Lighten". Opacity 60%.

6. I used one of
disappearicons's lovely light textures: And set the layer to "Lighten". Opacity 100%.

7. The final touches, are the white border (4 px) and the light gray other border (1 px). Then a new layer with
inexorablyhere's text brush. Set to "normal" Opacity 85%.

And tadah! XD Well, so basically these are the same things I did to make this icon:
. <3 You can also use the icon sampled just remember to credit either
jisatsu and/or
saihara.
