Rode my bike downtown tonight with my roommates.

chalk rose
An unknown amount of people had a chalk party on the street right in front of the PATH station.

chalkfest 05 so meta
emo streets awwww, cute

We ventured on, towards the water. I love when it's high tide, and you can hear the water slap against the concrete pier right near you. The river looked as if it might swell up and take us at any time, even through the fence.

You wouldn't figure these were taken in Jersey City. But they were. Right near the giant neon clock.

On the way home, I got a few awesome pictures of the creepiest haunted house-looking place in town, but I'll put those all behind the cut, because I don't want to put more than two pictures above a cut tag (that would be kind of pointless):

spooky, right? I would NOT want to go up these stairs first thing every morning.
Dickinson High School.

nice photos. i go running by the waterfront, and i love when it's high tide and rough and starts splashing up onto the boardwalk.

i always thought that place looked very haunted-house-ish too.

The water was weirdly smooth last night, but the waves were big.

Thanks! :)

A couple days ago as I went to work (using the exchange pl. PATH) I saw a woman arguing with a cop, she was using a can to spray an anouncement on the sidewalk and apparently the can was a type of spray on chalk so she thought she should be allowed to continue. She must have won because later there was an announcement in spray on chalk saying there would be a chalk party from 12-2. What you saw must have been the results.

I think it was a marketing ploy by the company that makes the spray-on chalk unfortunately. I wouldn't think the exch. pl. station would be the best place to market but there are always people there right before and after work.

I graduated from Dickinson High School in 2002, and it looks creepy from the outside, well, at night it does, but on the inside it really does look good.

No..lol..it's actually old and well not shiny..but sometimes clean. The kids inside the school make it dirty. It has a lot of history, which I like and a lot of hidden places..that the students would explore while wandering the hallways.

So wait, do you know how I can get to that? I've been looking for info on it for ages.
What with Homeland Security, I don't want to go until I know exactly where I'm going.

i honestly dont know too much about it. i just know of it and that i think it's under the school. i think to get access, you need to be in the school, but like i said, i dont know too much about it and just know of it and heard stuff from many people.

I'd do some serious checkup on a story like that before believing it, I think most older HS have a story like that. The one I went to in theory had a passageway running underneath the football field to the elementary school that was on the other side with a bomb shelter somewhere in the middle. It wasn't a true story.

Check with local historical societies and you could even call the school itself if you want to look it up.

From all official accounts, it is actually there. My boyfriend's Dad used to hang out in these tunnels.
What I'm trying to figure out is if and how I can get to them.

They are closed..the entrances smell like pee though..so I guess bums know how to get in there..lol. They used to be open back in the day..but they were closed I guess because it got too dangerous to keep them open..especially with the kind of students that go to Dickinson now.

So there definitely are entrances in the school at least?

Oh yeah..many..but they're locked...from inside the school..maybe the end of the tunnels are open..but people from my high school..I heard..could get in there..I don't know how.

Hrm.

I think I should just concentrate on figuring out how to get to them from outside, if there's any way.

I don't want to get into trouble for being in the school with no good reason.

I remember that in WeirdNJ. It was a really small article, pretty much just mentioing that they exist.

i just kinda found out that it runs all under dickinson hill.. like, the hill isn't natural. it's manmade for that reason. apparently if you go under the turnpike by dickinson hill (well, under it), find and follow the train tracks and you'll find like a murky, greenish lake. and by the murky lake there's an entrance. if you want, you see for yourself but i got this information from someone know i know that's been there though she said she hasn't been past the murky lake.

I'm definitely planning to do it, but it'll probably be pretty spontaneous, like whenever I can convince a roommate or two to go along on a night we're all bored.

But once we find it and get our pictures, I'll post about it here, and then I'll be more into going back with other people because I'll know where I'm going, y'know? :)

Nice photos. Would you mind if I link to your lj entry from my blog: DoJo Mojo

It's all about JC (mostly downtown, hence DoJo Mojo) and I didn't learn about the chalkfest until way after the fact.
