To the Fans of Jericho
To the Fans of Jericho:
Wow!
Over the past few weeks you have put forth an impressive and probably unprecedented display of passion in support of a prime time television series. You got our attention; your emails and collective voice have been heard.
As a result, CBS has ordered seven episodes of “Jericho” for mid-season next year. In success, there is the potential for more. But, for there to be more “Jericho,” we will need more viewers.
A loyal and passionate community has clearly formed around the show. But that community needs to grow. It needs to grow on the CBS Television Network, as well as on the many digital platforms where we make the show available.
We will count on you to rally around the show, to recruit new viewers with the same grass-roots energy, intensity and volume you have displayed in recent weeks.
At this time, I cannot tell you the specific date or time period that “Jericho” will return to our schedule. However, in the interim, we are working on several initiatives to help introduce the show to new audiences. This includes re-broadcasting “Jericho” on CBS this summer, streaming episodes and clips from these episodes across the CBS Audience Network (online), releasing the first season DVD on September 25 and continuing the story of Jericho in the digital world until the new episodes return. We will let you know specifics when we have them so you can pass them on.
On behalf of everyone at CBS, thank you for expressing your support of “Jericho” in such an extraordinary manner. Your protest was creative, sustained and very thoughtful and respectful in tone. You made a difference.

OK, this is nuts!
Multiple sources are telling me that CBS is thisclose to sealing a deal to bring Jericho back for at least eight episodes, possibly at mid-season. My spies caution that this is in no way official, but it certainly sounds like it could be by day's end.
To say this would be a huge victory for crazy TV fans everywhere would be the understatement of the frakkin' millennium.

How awsome is that behind the scenes video? Lennie James real accent, and Skeet's a diva. I loved it...especially coming from Pamla. How cool is she?
The Brad Beyer interview at TV Guide is also an interesting read. I love Brad, and it's not just that we're from the same area...go Waukesha!

Kristin Veitch at E!online is having her annual Save One Show Pomotion and she has this to say about "Jericho"
According to CBS insiders, there is strong support for Jericho within the higher ranks of the peeper network. Still, Jericho has struggled somewhat in the ratings this season—especially while going head-to-head with American Idol. Yes, Simon Cowell could trigger the end of the world for this apocalyptic show.

Question to readers of jericho_news
I run across news articles, reviews, and previews that are interesting and informative, but to some extent also time sensitive when they are about either the episode that just aired or about an episode that will be airing within the next day or two, in other words the majority of the news items either come out on Tuesday/Wednesday or on Thursday/Friday. There usually isn't enough fandom content to do a complete newsletter more often than once a week so the articles I find sometimes become out of date within a day or two.
Usually what I have been doing is posting the interesting news articles to the regular Jericho fan communities of either jericho_tv or jericho_fandom, both of them are moderated and the article doesn't go through until it has been ok'd by the maintainer which can be anywhere from immediately to several hours later. I've never been a fan of moderated groups because I feel it stops the free flow of discussion and debate, but that seems to be all that's available.
I have been toying around with starting an off shoot of jericho_news called jericho_oped that would be unmoderated and open for opinion and debate, reviews and other general fandom discussion where I would post the latest news items, members could post their fan works and for new community announcements, and it would be open to everything Jericho related, including actor and crew information. The newsletter would continue as is, but would also include a roundup of posts from jericho_oped.
Another option is that I can also post the current news articles right to jerichoreporter and anyone that is interested in seeing the latest information can friend that journal. I can just keep going on the way I've been going posting to the regular communities with a weekly (or as often as content allows) newsletter.
Since the newsletter is for the fandom I'll let you decide what would work best.
So here are the choices:
1) Post articles and news as I find them to jericho_news so readers would be getting the latest information as it happens, with a regular newsletter kept the same as it is with a once a week roundup of news articles and fandom happenings.
2) Start a new community.
3) Post news articles to jerichoreporter, and let those that are interested in the latest information friend that journal.
4) Keep going as I have, posting news to the regular fan communities and a once a week newsletter.
If no one replies I will leave it as is.

ETA: It looks like I'll be keeping the newsletter as is, at least for the time being. I'll continue to post interesting or latebreaking news to the regular Jericho communities with very important stuff right to jericho_news.
