'The Champions' Screencaps
Here are the screencaps to the episode 'Desert Journey' from the series 'The Champions'in which JB appeared in 1969. JB plays 'The Bey' who has to be 'escorted' across the desert, back to his people. (In actual fact a woman whacks him across the face and knocks him out, in order to get him to do so - charming. Also, note that same woman later on - her hair is alarmingly huge).

First of all: thank you!!! These shots are fabulous! His eyes are noticeably striking in these.

Does he actually say that? And that bit where he’s pouring the champagne or whatever on Muscles’ face . . . that’s really obnoxious (not that I’m attached to Muscles *shudder*). Is he an obnoxious, spoiled so-and-so in this?

I like the whole being smacked about by a woman thing, that’s really . . . lol! Pretty funny!

When he wakes up in the vehicle and runs off, only to get shot by I-don’t-know-who, it looks like he’s being the typical, reluctant, frustrating rescuee (that’s not a word). And they keep carrying him . . . it just looks so strange when I’m used to him being the rescuer (Holmes). But he’s so cute when he’s convalescing on his little pillow ;) (nice fake blood stain, by the way)

Tell me he smartens up by the end.

Yes he does say that. He sports a sort of middle-eastern accent in this and the way he says 'Muscles!' just makes me laugh - it's full of derision.

You see the woman next to him when he's pouring the champagne? Well she flips Muscles onto the floor after he starts fighting. JB goes "On your feet Muscles! Bested by a lady!" and then tips the bottle all over him.

Well in a way, yes. Only at the beginning though when he refuses to go with the girl. They want him to go back to the place he was exiled from in order to stop a rebellion. He would rather his people to "Let them kill themselves!" This antipathy stems from anger that his family were exiled in the first place.
However, at the end he is full of humility and so on is prepared to do what is needed. That's the gist of it, I think that's about it anyway.

Ah, so he gets bested by a lady a little bit later when she knocks him out and kidnaps him. How ironic.
I just looked that girl up on IMDB and was taken aback to learn that she's in Batman Begins, the older lady at Bruce Wayne's birthday party who says, 'Now, am I pronouncing this right? Mister Ra's Al Ghul.'

Yeah, he looks full of humility in that first sling close up. I like that expression. So he's only obnoxious for a wee bit? That's good.
