Missing a Diva
Well, I wrote this in my blog, it's pretty digressive but well, if you wanna read, feel free

I was listening to some songs before writing my fic and well, it was in shuffle mode so I got to listen a lot fo old songs I had never payed real attention to and remember other beloved ones. Well, it went from an unknown one (ayu? seemed to be but well, you never know) to Mika Nakashima's enjoyable songs (Marionette, Stars, Heaven on Earth, Helpless Rain...). Then it From That Sky something something by Matsuura Aya. I didn't even know i had it hehe. More Mika, My Sweeite by BoA (not japanese, but i'm only speaking the truth) and Namie's. This was ehn I started paying some attention, I've gotta confess I've never really listened to her older songs, they're so boring I change the track. But, this time, I was away from the computer, sitting on the bed staring blankly.

They were two songs and they got me to conclude that if Namie's a great diva it was not for 99~01. That's why Ayu became something! She had nice hits that made us all dance (and cover our ears ^^U) while Namie made us sleep.

Then another 99~01: Hikaru Utada. I always forget what it is to listen to her... It is just by doing that that she makes me love her songs all over again. The truth is I confess she has a lot of boring songs but... They don't make me want to change them because the lyrics and everything is so amazing... And it's not boring anymore. I really loved her albums... I miss them! Okay, I liked Exodus'04 (or exodus? i never know which is teh album which is the song... I think the album is exodus). But it's not genius Utada mixing perfectly English into japanese.

People say Dareka no Negai ga Kanau Koro is her best song... I'm not saying it's not good but it's so not her... I mean, i agree the lyrics are but a simple piano ballad? I don't know... She's always trying to change, no single is like the other and Dareka no seemed like going back to first love or Final Distance. I want her crazy Rrr's again! And those crazy things she'll insert in the song and her amazing inteligent lyrics!

I really miss her... I wish she were more greedy. Her voice is the best one i'll ever hear. It's not tiring, not plain, not too husky. Mika, Namie, Asuca. Why won't I talk about Ayu? C'mon ^^UUU I like Ayu, her lyrics and the melodies... But she does have to fix that voice. But it wouldn't be Ayu if she weren't singing, same problem as Keita's (from w-inds). Not gonna mention Ayaya this time, her voice is okay, just strange.

I wan Automatic! First Love! Can You Keep a Secret! Addicted to You!!! Tokyo Nights!!! Never a single but a really good song ^^ Baby what's my price? By the way I think I don't have her third album here... Nope... that one is Ayaya's.... Argh. kono doki doki wa naze tomaranai. Okay, if you haven't heard that jazz-ish version for that song you won't like it as much as I do but it was a perfect version!!! So much feeling!

Well, while we don't have a diva again (namie, ayu, hikki, they're all dying) it rests us try to fall in love with others.

There was Mika, and Ayaka Hirahara, and Onistuka Chihiro (little old huh?), and Maki Ohguro (okay, this one was way before namie, i think ^^U), and Hitomi Shimatani, and our latest: Ai Otsuka.

Is she dead? I can't tell you, I liked her latest single, actually. But I still haven't studied the lyrics. Although I did enjoy Smily a lot it's no Kingyo Hanabi. Though she did need something happy for summer, so Smily was necessary, though I think a loooooot of people didn't like it. I still love it, makes me so happy when I'm sad. I wish I could sing it now but Toropikaru Koishiteru won't let me. I have to dance to that song ehhehehe. Byt the way, anyone misses old Ayaya? I actually don't o.O

Well, the Amuro I know is from 98 back. So, can't talk about the 99~01 period.

I still think "Dareka no..." is a great song, but as I don't know those many Hikki songs, I can't really judge the whole of her career.

And I perfectly understand your wish that a new diva comes out. But are Amuro, Hikki and Ayu really dying? In which sense? Comercially? Artistically? Aesthetically? ^^U

As for Onitsuka Chihiro, I tend to see her as a sort of timeless diva. Her songs are in another level, methinks.

onitsuka has changed too much since that disease... I hated her latest (and not that recent) single. That's why i put her with those others but i do think they were divas but of a year or two and now they are well, old. Ai not that old but also. Have you ever her ohguro, by the way? she's got a real powerful voice.

Well, hikki doesn't release. Namie is always releasing the same song. And I also have that impression of Ayu though she's been resisting a little more. The thing is: they are just REALLY famous but not really deserving to be that huge.

I want a huge seller again... With great new songs and that is able to keep that! Mika is the closer but i find her so boring...

"Have you ever her ohguro, by the way?"

Not yet, but I'm interested. ^^

"Namie is always releasing the same song."

Agreed. :P
