AboutHey this is a community for lovers of japenese horror films and American remakes! I know there are plenty of movie specific communities already set up but this is one for general discussion/reviews/recommendations of all japenese horror films! Feel free to post icons and graphics that you have made under a lj cut. Please join us if you are interested, we welcome anyone!
"Being a great fan of movies and television I have seen numerous horrors in my time, and they all seemed to have the same predictable storylines and more-distressing-than-scary music. I always felt they weren't quite scary enough, that there was something missing.
The first time I watched Ringu I was truly scared, brought to a new level of terror that I had been always longing for. From then onward I was hooked on the beautiful horror of the Japanese. The music always fitting perfectly (if needed at all), the dialogue only used when neccessary and always giving the perfect amount of information without confusion, and the overall subtleties that make up one hell of a spine-tingling experience. They are some of the only films I can watch without predicting what will be coming next or made to think about how it could be improved." viewtifuljoe1

But several Japanese directors, such Kiyoshi Kurosawa, Hideo Nakata and Hiroshi Shimizu, have given me a new kind of creeps that have nothing to do with ruthless madmen chasing shrieking teenage girls, and everything to do with unquiet dreams that subtle horror movies provide.
