When I watch a Jane Austen adaptation or other period film, I have to admit the prettiness is always a big factor. It seems only just to our beloved authors to set their stories in gorgeous landscapes and people them with nice-looking, well-costumed actors.
I've been thinking though, these movies don't just please the eyes. If you guys are up for it, I thought we could chat about the
sounds of period films. In two parts:
1)
Which actors (male or female) have the best voices? Whose voice do you dislike (esp. if you're not intended to)?2)
Which costume dramas have the best music? We can talk about Austen-related movies or any classic adaptations. I'm going to start by nominating
Becoming Jane for best soundtrack, and two men who are, in my opinion, the most obvious choices for Best Voice in a Costume Drama :)
