Sorry I can't be here, I'm trying to get recruited by Microsoft >^_^< (yay and nay).
Library News:
So, didn't get the Discs into the database, I had to basically babysit the game room, and was easily distracted. SO, this friday I will take over one of the other rooms and play music or something, and work on putting stuff into the library, and I would love to have people help me with it because it is a VERY slow process. If you can help please post here and please be there if you will help.

As far as the library goes, I will not be able to work on it again until Friday, I've found a way to be insanely busy this week, go figure, but the search for titles does work, and write reviews and such. A link will be placed, thanks to our webmistress, on the LJ and Website.

AND RIGHT HERE
www.pfo-studios.com/JCON/login.php

User name: [First letter first name][Last name] example: Jonathan Maple (me) --> JMAPLE
pass: 1234 (it will ask you to change it after the first time you log in, and I can not tell you your password once you change it, its encrypted)

Fliers

Hey JCon.

I printed out 75 fliers, thinking it'd be 50 for the dorms and 25 to put in classroom buildings. Turns out, though, that the dorms only take 40 now (grrr) so I gave those to the folks at Baker to be distributed. The rest of the fliers I've put in:

Ellis (2)
Gordy (2)
Morton (4)
Jefferson (1)
McCracken (1)
Nelson (1)
Aquatic Center (2)
Walter (2)
Grover (1)
Porter (2)
Baker (2)
Lindley (1)
Bentley (1)
Boyd (1)
and Stocker (2)

... and probably one or two that I've forgotten because I only have 8 fliers left and the math isn't working out. WHATEVER, I'M EXHAUSTED. The point is! I didn't hit the library because my father-in-law works there and he scares me, I couldn't find a place to put up a flier in Chubb, and I didn't get the CSC or Haning or Copeland or Convo because ... I'm an idiot? No, I was just tired.

So! If anyone's going to be in those buildings, or if you can think of one I missed, let me know at the meeting and I'll give you a flier and a tack to stick it up with.

Cheers!

~mQ

Well, we made it to the last hour of the showing tonight, running it off the school computer rather than our beloved box. Even the projectors have been cooperating. Just have to wait and see if they'll shut off at 11:30 again.

Perhaps at the next meeting we can decide how to better use the box for the club? Thoughts?

Attendance maxed out at about 20, near the halfway point of the showing. C'mon, people! That's lower than over so far this quarter. Not the worst, but we can do better! ;)

In other news, the JCON hard drive is appoaching capacity. Stuff needs to be cleared from it before the beginning of winter quarter. There's a good amount of series with full seasons, and there's other folders that have no more than maybe 5 episodes in them (deletable). I can go ahead and clean it up myself, but I figured I'd see if anyone had any issues with that.

Obi, over and out.

vhs inventory

So I went through the boxes and I made a quick inventory of what we had, for the record.

I have 5 boxes of vhs, with around 20 per box so i'm guesstimating about 100 vhs.

I went through and just wrote down the names of the series or movies we had. If it is a series, we have bunches of VHS with that series on it, but I only wrote it down once (per box)

Sailor Moon R (only one or so VHS)
Gundam Wing
Fushigi Yuugi
Slayers Try
Nadia of the Mysterious Seas
Robotech
Kenshin
Fatal Fury 2
Irresponsible Captain Tyler
Ozanari (Ozari? weird writing)
Voltron
Escaflowne
Nadesico
Space Adventure Cobra
DNA
Vampire Hunter D
Japanese Game show (I guess it was copied off of public access)
Lain
Big Wars
Crystal Clear Destiny // Good Queen, Bad Queen
Street Fighter II IV
Dragon Pink

Blue Seed
Lodoss War
Eva
Bubblegum Crash / Crisis
El Hazard
Dragonball (only one or so vhs)
Sol Bianca
Arislan
Ghost in the Shell
Tenshi Forever
Vampire Princess Miyu
Silent Mobius
Nazca
Those who Hunt Elves
Urusei Yatsuri
Wings of Honneamise

Eva
Video Girl Ai
Blue Seed
The Hakkenden
Saber Marionette J
Night Warriors
Gundam 0080
You're Under Arrest

Macross Plus
Ranma 1/2
Gun Burner
Key the Metal Idol
Final Fantasy : Legend of the Crystals
Galaxy Express 999

This is by no means a comprehensive list. I was digging through boxes and might have missed something if it was wedged between 2 different vhs of a series. The double spaces mark the differences of boxes.

Hey all,

Well, Morton media system is officially the sucks. We got through the showing ok (and even on time, too), but the darn projector keeps doing it's warm-up and cool-down modes, blocking me out from using them. Sorry to anyone who might've been annoyed, bothered, perturbed, or otherwise offended by one of the screens displaying something different from what was being shown at sporatic 5 minute intervals throughout the showing. I swear it wasn't me (points to control panel).

Thanks to Molly for the insightful culture note. It certainly made watching episode 2 of Zetsubou sensei all the more enjoyable.
And thanks to Maple, Chizmar and Baker for the support regarding the sucky system.

Our attendance at one point topped out at about 30, and after the first episode of Ippo, the head count was at least 20 the entire time. That is until 11:30 rolled around. This happened in the game room as well, and I think all the projectors in the building just shut off at that time every night. VERY inconvenient. Some people proposed starting a half hour earlier, but here's what I'm thinking:

For one, I think that's too early for the majority of our viewers to make it on a Friday afternoon. I might skip AMVs all together in order to finish up by that time, and then just do a random AMV, etc. showing for the remainder of the time (sometimes people just want to go home, and it reduces the risk of going overtime. Let me know what you think.

Another thing, when we began showing Minami-ke, none of the players on the box would support it well, so we switched over to the school computer, and that's where we ran the rest of the showing. I think I'm gonna try to run a whole showing without the box to see if it's as necessary anymore. I'll transfer what I can from the box to the hard drive of course. We'll see how it goes. Again, any thoughts?

That's all from me. Hope y'alls weekend's going well, and I'll see you at the next meeting!
VP Obi

Hey all the library is heading along pretty well. You will get a quick demo tonight, its not completely done yet. I'm going to need help with data entry and collecting some stuff from the internets, if some people could help with that it would be fantastic, it will not involve any programming. It will be essentially I need a list of stuff gathered for me (ie. images, info on series I know nothing about(and anidb knows nothing about), etc). The faster this gets done the more sooner cool things can get done.

Thanks

Hey everyone,
Great turnout we had last night. I lost count at 50, but I want to put us at a ballpark attendance of 55 people!
We encountered a number of glitches with the system, as well as running overtime due to scheduling. We even had to move rooms at 11:30pm because the projectors turned themselves off!
All in all though, we got through it, and I want to thank everyone for their patience and understanding. I know it wasn't the smoothest 1st showing ever.

Anyway, some of you paid your dues last night, sooooooo:
Here are JCON's paid members so far:

Greg Dikis ------------------------($20 - full year)
Obadiah---------------------------($20 - full year)
Tammy Howard-----------------($20 - full year)
David Loomis--------------------($20 - full year)
Natalie Burrows (NAB)--------($20 - full year)
Jay Chaffin------------------------($20 - full year)

In order to vote this next Tuesday for what we'll be showing for the rest of the quarter, you need to pay your membership dues.
Bring $20 for the year, or $10 for one quarter.
That is all!

--EDIT--

See/pay your dues to Suzie in order to be a member.
Stuff for the meetings

Hey, JCon.

I've made two ... things? to put up during the first meeting. The first is an alphabetized (sort-of) list of all the series we've seen in the past two years, which are off-limits for voting on this year. The second is the handy-dandy guide to setting up the quarter schedule.

Really, I'm just posting this here so Bueno'll have easy access to it at the first meeting, tomorrow.

Windows ME-tan is here to tell you that a fatal error has occurred in your anime selection.
"Off Limits" Anime

Hey, I can't seem to locate an up-to-date version of the constitution, so maybe somebody knows the answer to this question:

What is the policy on the minimum passage of time before we can show a specific show again? I want to compile a list of "Off Limits" anime for the first meetings, so that we don't have to reject anyone's nominations (and waste time while they try to decide another one).

I remember it being something like the most recent school year. Like anything we played last school year is no good? I know there were different rules for special shows like Halloween, but isn't this the rule for the weekly anime?

edit: comments contain the anime that are off limits for nomination.

This town blows without JCon people floating around. =_=

I've made two versions of the handbills to hand out to the fresh<s>meat</s>men at the Involvement Fair this year. Can't decide which I think should be printed and passed out. One's very wordy, but tells a little more about JCon, and the other's lighter on text but also on info. Take a look and tell me which you prefer, please?

<s>~* Wordy ~*~ Lite *~</s>

Screw that, THIS is the one we'll go with.

See you all Sunday, if not before! :D

~m3Q

Hi everyone,

Molly and I will be up for watching some anime this Friday evening, but we have missed the last several weeks.

For Ryan, Ian, and the rest who attended with us a month ago: are you guys still watching stuff in Morton? Is there anything we were watching before which you would like me to bring in? My plans are to bring:
Chi's Sweet Home (from around 50 until 68)
Macross frontier 15 and 16
Today in class 5-2 (4 episode OVA which will have a full TV series adaptation in Fall)
Minami-ke Okawari.
Library Wars.
Nogizaka Haruka's Secret.

Yeah... probably not gonna watch all of that- but that's what I'm bringing.

As far as I know, we're showing up at 6PM in Morton 115

Just as a heads-up? OU has yet again revamped how things are run in Morton. Obi--or anyone else, I suppose--you should probably come in before the first showing and re-learn how things work. The hook-up should be the same, but the way the lights/sound/screens are run is a little different. And, in my opinion, a little less intuitive.

GO OU GO you suck so hard.

JCon shirt -- Reborn!

Hiya JCon!

I didn't like how my old JCon shirt (the misspelled one) looked on me, so I changed it.

It made me happy, I dunno. I have a whole book on how to modify tshirts into ... other shirts, so if anyone wants to change up their JCon shirt, or any other shirt, let me know and I'll send you instructions. ^^

In other words, I'm bored, and I'm entertaining myself by posting to the JCon LJ. Don't look at me like that.
