Welcome!

In this community, we provide a seductive weekly prompt to inspire you to bring your wildest, hottest, naughtiest Inuyasha-related fantasies to life in words. We encourage all of our members to read, write, and vote.

This is a moderated community (approved memberships only) for adults (18+).

Because our context is always NC17, no writing is posted without being member-locked (hence, this is not a comm you can just watch without joining).

We take no responsibility if you opt to apply the credo of hedonism beyond this community, though we may ask to watch.

Contest Details

We’ll do both oneshots and drabbles with a variety of word counts in random sequence. Word counts will always mean limits (don't go over), but if you can hit the nail on the head, go for it.

New challenges will be posted every Saturday afternoon with prompts for two weeks at a time. Submissions close and voting opens the following Saturday at Midnight EST. Voting closes Monday at 8 p.m. US EST.

1st, 2nd, 3rd place, and Moderators' Choice winners will receive wonderful, naughty banners. (No Mods' Choice during weeks with less than seven entries.)

Rules for Entries

One entry per writer per contest.
(Co-authoring is permitted, but it counts as the sole entry from both authors.)

Original and freestanding work only, please. (If we have to read something else you have written to follow the story, it’s not freestanding.)

No crossposting entries until after the voting is done, please.

Edit, proofread, and know basic grammar, spelling, and punctuation rules.

Subject line for your post should list the Week # and Prompt.

Always use an LJ Cut for your content.

Headers for entries should include:

Title:
Author:
Rating: Adult (sexual situations) / Adult+ (graphic depictions) / Adult++ (extra kinky).
Characters:
Genre, AU/Canon, etc.: [include as helpful/necessary for readers]
Words:
Summary:
Warnings: No warnings necessary for adult content (sex or language) necessary, including yaoi/yuri. Just use common sense to let readers know if you’re depicting what you think members might deem "extreme" and/or going for the squick. If it’s about pleasure and written by adults for adults, it’s all good. See below for more on this subject.

Warnings

The Iyhed policy and its reasoning: We have made a very active and conscious choice to keep warnings to a minimum. Our primary reasoning for this is not smugness, machismo, or one-ups(wo)manship. We’ve found that often Warnings are justifications for prejudice, judgment of other people’s fetishes, and a means of discrimination. We recognize the squick factor/issue, and we remind everyone to please include warnings for anything you think might be particularly disturbing; and use summaries, ratings, and author notes to give hints (without spoiling your surprises) at what we might find. Balancing openmindedness and anti-censorship with kindness and respect for individual preferences is a fine act, and we think everyone’s been doing a fabulous job at it. Our Warnings policy will no doubt encourage some people not to join Iyhed, or to leave when they stumble onto something disturbing. And we’re fine with that. We cannot be everything to everyone, nor do we wish to try.

Voting

Vote for your three favorite entries by title, in the order of: 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

You may not vote for your own entry, but it is good form and fair play to vote during any weeks in which you enter.

Members have repeatedly voted in favor of moderators entering contests, and we may do so from time to time.

Comments on the voting post will be screened, of course.

Tips for Writers and Voters

If you seek pointers, please consider the following general elements we feel make for great drabble/oneshot writing:

Creativity of Approach (originality, power)
Strength of Language Use (vividness, precision)
Relevance to Prompt (satisfying or unexpected)
Hitting the Word Count (self-explanatory)

Caution: Since we’re all adults here, we know we don’t need to say anything about flaming, harassing, or giving destructive feedback (the opposite of constructive criticism). Neither do we need to note that doing such will result in a single warning and then banning. If you have a problem with any member or entry or rule, all you need to do is PM us.
