alchemi the maintainer of this community.
This community was inspired by an article in the July edition of Esquire in which people give first person accounts of unusual personal experiences (having skydiving from nine miles above the earth, riding the world's largest wave, seeing music, etc).
This community is a place to collect those kinds of experiences. The rules:
1. All entries must be in the first person. Try to describe the experience as carefully and with as much detail as possible.
2. All of the entries must be real - no fiction is allowed.
3. All posts must describe something relatively unusual. Taking a test is not unusual, nor is taking a foreign language. But if you take a Bar Examination or spend six months in Moscow in an intensive Russian program, those are genuinely unusual.
4. Experiences need not be unique. Many people survive boot camp, but it is still unusual enough that it might be fun to read someone's first hand experience of it.
5. Genuinely rare experiences are appreciated. If you've testified in front of Congress, competed in the Olympics, made a million dollars day-trading or written a best seller, we'd love you to post about it. Just understand that there may be some skepticism about the veracity of the post.
6. Have fun. Be nice. If you think something is not kosher, say so but do not attack.
