The first and foremost goal of this community is a project dedicated to selecting seven most notable places in Israel - all places of interest are included, be it archeological sites, nature spots, picturesque view, etc. You can make your choice either by voting in a poll, or listing your choices in a comment. However, since a LiveJournal poll allows for choosing more than seven options, the final count will be conducted using only comments. The voting will end on August 1st, 2008.

In order to participate in this project please look at the LJ poll, check off no more than seven options and then write them down in a comment to the polling post in the following format "34, 43, 52, 67, 76, 87, 101". Anonymous comments are allowed, but we ask that in the comment's SUBJECT line you provide either your name or a unique alias. Comments with more than seven options listed will not be included in the final count.

Let us reiterate: All participants are respectfully requested to choose ONLY seven options in the poll and leave comments containing no more than seven choices under their own name/username. You may name less than seven options if you'd like. Comments containing more than seven choices will be disqualified. Also, if you wish, you may add your own "wonder of Israel"
among your list of seven places. Please leave comments containing anything other than a list of choices in other posts in this community.

When the voting ends (August 1st, 2008) all submitted entries will be counted and "The 7 wonders of Israel" will be announced. If the voting is statistically significant (minimum a few hundred participants), those who guessed all seven winning choices will be awarded prizes. The first person to vote for the final list will receive a free tour to Jordan, 3 or 4 nights - according to his/her preference. The second person will receive two free tickets to one of the exclusive tours offered by the "Igor Tours" agency. If no participant will correctly guess all seven winning choices, prizes will be awarded to those who were able to name six.

We understand that the participants may not be familiar with all the places on the list. You don't have to choose only those you've been to - whatever you deem to be the most interesting in the country should be your choice, even if you personally haven't visited there. We also understand that the Promised Land holds a lot more interesting places than the mere seven you're asked to choose. Still, please try to contain yourself and name seven that are the most.

Поддерживаю. Массад и Гамла - символ сопротивления+исторический памятник. А музей Катастрофы... по-моему, чудом это называть категорически не следует. А у него, судя по голосованию, шансы неплохие попасть в семерку. И как это дело будет выглядить? Хорошее чудо...

Игорь, сегодня ночью я думала о твоем опросе и мне пришла в голову такая же мысль.
Яд ва-Шем, по-моему, вообще следовало бы убрать из пулла. Он никак не подходит под определение "чуда" и не явяется туристической-развлекательной-исторической аттракцией. Он вообще стоит отдельно от всего остального, что есть в Израиле. По-моему, ему нужно дать отдельную номинацию. Но в перечень чудес заносить его, мне кажется, кощунственно.
Так же, по-моему, отдельные пункты Стена Плача и Храмовая гора ничего не дают кроме распыления голосов. В итоге, Мертвое море набирает больше голосов, чем Стена Плача или Храмовая гора по-отдельности.
