Interrobang Cartel Wiki Thing

A number of us IBCers have talked about renovating the web site for quite some time. We discussed some design and even did some trials of various software. Sometime last year we tried a Drupal installation and we put a bunch of stuff in it to see how it worked. It was actually pretty good. Unfortunately about that time our main site administrator had to move and job change and generally does not have timely access to the Interweb at this point.

Unfortunately, around that time in an upgrade, somehow I managed to corrupt something in the Drupal site and it would just come up with blank pages. I kept poking at it hoping it would come back to life, including a couple more version upgrades. No luck. So this weekend I exported the data and dropped the tables and recreated it from scratch and then basically pasted the old material into the new site. This includes not only material from the current page but using www.archive.org to retrieve old pages no longer available anywhere else.

Since I have need of a place to put new material and I think others as well, I will let them speak for themselves, I think it will be useful too, so I am announcing the UNOFFICIAL Interrobang Cartel Backup Wiki site at

Feel free to create an account if you would like to add new things or update old material with recent work. Once you have an account I can grant authoring privs.

I am hoping to perhaps spark a bit of renewed interest in the project. I believe that IBC is a unique project that produced some really interesting things and I don't think it has completely outlived itself yet. (I could be horribly wrong here!)

Please feel free to provide constructive comments regarding the site should you so desire.

Prelude pulled

I just took "Prelude to the Afternoon of a Coelacanth" off last.fm. Reason: On listening to it again I remembered it makes prominent use of "The Girl From Ipanema", a song written in 1962 and not in the public domain (and the performance, I would guess, is also copyright protected). I don't know that it's likely anyone would complain, and it might arguably be fair use for purposes of parody, but I'd rather not risk getting into legal trouble or trouble with last.fm over it. I'm probably being overly cautious, I know.

Hope no one minds, I uploaded the tracks done so far for Bad Coelacanth and Rules for Dysfunctional Patterns to last.fm. They're described as albums in progress.

(Some problem apparently with "Pay Her No Mind". Twice I've uploaded it and it's gone through with no apparent hitch, but then it says it doesn't have the MP3 and suggests I upload it. I have no idea why.) (Working now.)

The other completed songs on incomplete albums could be uploaded too, but I'm less confident of the album assignments for them.

While the Cartel songs on last.fm might be considered to be "canonical" in the sense that they've all been remastered by Major Zed, be aware that MP3s downloaded from last.fm do not preserve the ID3 tags of the uploaded versions. So they do not contain any artwork that may have been included, the composer fields are blank, and the artist fields uniformly contain "Interröbang Cartel".

I've put the remastered versions of "Walking With Woodlice" and "Hedgerow Hypothesis OSJ version" on my web site at the same URL as was given previously, but these MP3s have the original ID3 information restored.
