| This was an add on song that fmyates brought out and we used as an opening song in the Barflies! show. I finally finished mixing this one down.
Becca and Mike on Vocals, Tony on Keyboard, and me on Guitar.
The Song is Here
Still working on a number of other songs from the show.
Also started and in progress is a Bad Coelacanth track "Dainty Toffee". | comments: 4 comments or Leave a comment |
| The first two shows were on Friday and Saturday. The Friday show was a little bit rough here and there but not bad. I think we really hit it much better on Saturday. It was pretty much a full house and the energy was really good. We start the pre-show with Mike's "Pink Noise" (lyrics are on the web site). I will see if I can get a good live recording. Next is George Hammond Conspiracy, followed by The Robot Song, (Data Version). That gets people laughing every time. We then do urbeatle's Pretending I'm Not there which is really strong. The show then gets started and we do Senseless, Chalice of Fire, and COMAR and key moments. We then use my version of Static Caravan Fan Club as the background music during the break.
So far the audience seems to have enjoyed it. Senseless always gets a great reaction. The song has been tweaked to make it a duet between fmyates and Rebecca making it particularly wrong when Rebecca sings parts from first person.
Chalice and COMAR get pretty surreal in the context of the show so it is hard to gauge the reaction since the show has gotten darker at that point and it is not really an applause situation.
People have been asking about where they can get albums and the music, so that is very cool. I included a link in the program to my IBC site since it has the most up-to-date collection of MP3's and lyrics at this point.
Also I will post up the program we when I get it. It includes acknowledgments for all the contributors including (but not limited to) mckcb and urbeatle. | comments: 2 comments or Leave a comment |
| So we are less than a week away from the show and it looking really cool. As the band we chose to do COMAR, Chalice of Fire, and Casey's Drowsey Drivers song Senseless as the main songs. The director basically created the show to integrate with the songs. As pre-show songs, we have have prepared George Hammond Conspiracy, Morris Chickens, Pretending I'm Not There, Robot Song (Data Version), and an original Pink Noise, plus we may rotate in some other IBC songs. End of show music includes Static Caravan Fan Club.
All of this takes place in the upstairs bar of a restaurant/bar named L2 on South Street in Philly. It is very alcohol related and get pretty dark by the end. As is befitting for a fringe show, it transitions from real time to dream/bar time at various times.
The band is made up of myself on guitar and vocals, fmyates vocals, Rebecca and Tony on keyboards and vocals, and my laptop for drum and bass track.
Friday is opening night.
I will try to get video recordings at least for the major authors to see how this came out. | comments: 3 comments or Leave a comment |
| Does anyone out there have any contact information for Casey B? (Preferably email?)
There is a live project that I am working on and I would like to see if I can get permission from him to perform one of his Drowsy Driver songs.
Thanks to any who can help!

| A number of us IBCers have talked about renovating the web site for quite some time. We discussed some design and even did some trials of various software. Sometime last year we tried a Drupal installation and we put a bunch of stuff in it to see how it worked. It was actually pretty good. Unfortunately about that time our main site administrator had to move and job change and generally does not have timely access to the Interweb at this point.
Unfortunately, around that time in an upgrade, somehow I managed to corrupt something in the Drupal site and it would just come up with blank pages. I kept poking at it hoping it would come back to life, including a couple more version upgrades. No luck. So this weekend I exported the data and dropped the tables and recreated it from scratch and then basically pasted the old material into the new site. This includes not only material from the current page but using www.archive.org to retrieve old pages no longer available anywhere else.
Since I have need of a place to put new material and I think others as well, I will let them speak for themselves, I think it will be useful too, so I am announcing the UNOFFICIAL Interrobang Cartel Backup Wiki site at
http://ibcwiki.spaceroom.org
Feel free to create an account if you would like to add new things or update old material with recent work. Once you have an account I can grant authoring privs.
I am hoping to perhaps spark a bit of renewed interest in the project. I believe that IBC is a unique project that produced some really interesting things and I don't think it has completely outlived itself yet. (I could be horribly wrong here!)
Please feel free to provide constructive comments regarding the site should you so desire.

| Rock In My Shoe is ready for a vocal track. Listen to my voice in the prototype version to get an idea of what I'd like... except female. And an octave higher, if you can. Actually, feel free to sing in whatever key you would like - we have the technology to redo everything else around you. For more info, see the old post here.
My plan is to put you front and center, with a nice wash of backup vocals. Ask Doctroid - we have the technology to make you sound great. RSVP! | comments: Leave a comment |
| for the benefit of those failing to remain inside the ARK:

I heard Thomas Ricks on Fresh Air last night talking about his new book
"The Gamble," and he quoted this exchange:
> An American soldier in the town of Baqubah turns to an Iraqi who has
> been an insurgent, who's now manning a checkpoint with the Americans,
> and he says, "Would you like to kill me?" and the Iraqi looks him up
> and down and says, "Yes, but not today."
The story is here, though not the full text anymore:

The quote is a little over 15 minutes into the interview.

| | I just took "Prelude to the Afternoon of a Coelacanth" off last.fm. Reason: On listening to it again I remembered it makes prominent use of "The Girl From Ipanema", a song written in 1962 and not in the public domain (and the performance, I would guess, is also copyright protected). I don't know that it's likely anyone would complain, and it might arguably be fair use for purposes of parody, but I'd rather not risk getting into legal trouble or trouble with last.fm over it. I'm probably being overly cautious, I know. | comments: 10 comments or Leave a comment |
| Hope no one minds, I uploaded the tracks done so far for Bad Coelacanth and Rules for Dysfunctional Patterns to last.fm. They're described as albums in progress.
(Some problem apparently with "Pay Her No Mind". Twice I've uploaded it and it's gone through with no apparent hitch, but then it says it doesn't have the MP3 and suggests I upload it. I have no idea why.) (Working now.)
The other completed songs on incomplete albums could be uploaded too, but I'm less confident of the album assignments for them.

Lyrics It goes up and down Sometimes it is worth more than a tractor Other times less than a bucket of slop No I wouldn't want to be a futures trader Who bets on the price of Swedish glarno It is not a reliable commodity On which to pin your future hopes and dreams That doesn't stop people doing it I see more every day The money is just too attractive
I don't blame people for it But if you want my advice Don't mess around with the price of Swedish glarno | comments: 2 comments or Leave a comment |
