Subject:New Meat!
Posted by:whowatchesnadia.
Time:8:13 pm.
Mood: content.
Hello, all! I am new here and ready to become a better writer.

Name: Nadia

Age: 13 (14 in august!)

Genre of Writing: Well, I like reading fantasy/adventure (Alice in Wonderland) but I'm not really the person you would ask to write , and I'm learning to accept that. But I really like writing comedy/dramas/social commentaries. Make of that what you will. :)

Greatest Accomplishment: I haven't really had a great accomplishment thus far, maybe when I finish a novel, and the one I'm starting now will be the 4th time I've tried to start and write one!

Pet Peeve in Writing: Hmm. I guess my biggest pet peeve would be when the books go into SO much detail, they would be describing a sweater but it would be a whole page before you get to the word 'sweater'. I love it when authors paint a vivid picture, but please, don't bore me before I get to the second paragraph!

Subject:um. hai. first post of the day?
Posted by:rupindah.
Time:11:02 am.

First name: Rupinder. I'd prefer it if you called me Rupi. =]

Age: 17 and a half.

Genre of Writing: Well, mostly I write poems, which surprisingly have been good enough to get published. As for stories, I'm a fiction writer, and as hard as I try they always end up with fantasy/supernatural and romance. Ghosts, mostly. Sometimes vampires. Other times, it's gotten interesting.

Greatest writing accomplishment: I've gotten several poems published, I guess. I think my GREATEST accomplishment was definitely, definitely finishing my first NaNoWriMo.

Biggest pet peeve concerning writing: "She did this. She did that. Ooh, now she's happy." I don't like generalized writings, or stupid plotlines, either (I'm not a fan of Twilight. In fact ... it makes me want to gouge out my eyeballs, but we can discuss that later). I hate predictable plots and I really, really hate books that have a whole stereotyped thing.

But other than that, nothing. =]

'Aight.

I'm doing July NaNoWriMo (I'm 17 and a half in Canada, do I really have anything else to do?) and I am definitely lookin gfor feedback. It's on my LJ (woooooo) so I won't pointlessly LJ cut it into here, but in case you get hit in the head and decide you want to read my stuff, it's there. :]

Name: Kayley
Age: 16
Genre of Writing: varies
Greatest Writing Accomplishment: Finishing my first real novel could be a choice for this field. I am working with agents now to get it published.

However, the opportunity I want to present to all of you is the accomplishment which is the greatest at this moment. What I am referring to is the creation of a literary revision agency called The Celebrated Linguist. You can visit the agency at http://www.litrevision.com (the site is still under construction, but both project applications and agent applications are being accepted). I would like to invite all of you to either apply for revision of your work or, if you are skilled enough, apply to be an agent. You can view examples of my own personal editing at www.litrevision.com/kayleyeexamples.html. My prices and payment policy are both adjustable because this is the beginning of the site.

Anyway, the creation of my literary revision agency would be my greatest accomplishment so far.

Biggest Pet Peeve:
Frankly, I can't stand poor composition. Now, I don't necessarily look down on people who have improper grammar or spelling; to me, writing is about the story, and not fully the composition. However, something about bad composition still makes my blood boil. This is part of the reason why I created the literary revision agency; I want to help people write better. Also, don't get the wrong picture; I'm not mean to my customers or anything. The main situation where I get annoyed is when someone claims to be at the utmost caliber when it comes to writing composition, and said person has a horribly self-centered attitude about it, when their writing is in fact composed very poorly. If someone actually wants help with the composition and ideas of their writing, I would be more than happy to help them.

HIYA. I just joined so hi, i'm maddy. I've been writing this book and I was wondering if u could tell me if its any good. Here is an excerpt:

Casey was tired of running. It seemed like years ago that she toar out her front door, and down her quiet, peaceful suburban street, a stark contrast to the load war being faught within her. As she ran, she knew her actions would do a grave amount of damage, and for that she was sorry. But she also knew, and this she knew for certain, that she could not spend one moment longer inside the four walls that she previously called home. She could not bear to look her parents in the eye, nor the kids at school. She could no longer bear the burden of being one of them. And for that she was sorry.

As she boarded the train her stomach churned; this was the point of no return. The moment that her foot left that platform her fate would be sealed, and nothing would ever be the same again. Her comfortable, large house with the strong, white pillars and the beautiful, high balcony, would no longer be welcoming to her. But as she considered all this, a thought dawned on her: that large, comfortable house was never really welcoming to her. Well not the real her anyway. No, he true self was never allowed behind the stony front door. Once she entered that house, she was what they made her. Everyone there, from her Kindergarden teacher, to her ex best friend, to her dear old mom and dad. That persona that she had adapted all her life would no longer be necessary, she realized, if she took that step onto the train.

As she rocked back and forth between the woboly platform and the steady, concreat cement she weighed her options. She could choose what was seemingly the easiest option, to go home, and pretend none of this ever happened. To go back to her meaningless, fake existence in which her only goal was to fit is among the crowd, which was no easy task in Villageton. Their Barrack Obama yard signs would suggest a tollarent nature, but in truth they were just as discriminatory as the cult of Sarah Palin  followers. Maybe discriminatory isn’t the right word, try narrow minded. If everyone doesn’t fit their perception of perfection, then those people must be fixed. Despite their constant battle for perfection in others, they were lost for perfection within themselves. Behind their perfectly trimmed haircuts, and weight-watchers thin physics, you could see it. Only on particularly cloudy days, and in the right light you could see a glimmer of despiration in their eyes. This is the only time one would consider that maybe, just maybe, these people were not perfectly happy. And maybe each one of them was as messed up as the next, just too scared to admit it. But, of course, one could only see this if she was looking, and in Villageton, nobady was ever looking.

I wish I had belonged to a community like this...
Hello, I'm actually 24 so I won't be joining your group or bothering you with my "supposed to be a grown up-ism" (though, I am not anywhere near grown up and never will be, and I have used blood for ink once, though I do not recommend it), I am a writer, and have been since I was about 12, it's not a professional interest, I may never publish anything. Its about the writing. I love the writing. To that end, I am posting, and hoping I am not offending anyone by doing so, to ask for a little help:

I prefer to write about the 12-18 age group, but, its been awhile since I was any of those ages, and even when I was...I was not remotely normal, so using my memories and own experiences is somewhat limiting. So here is a questionnaire anyone can fill out, particularly if you happen to be 12-18. I am not about judging the responses, I'm hoping to learn and be a better writer for it.

if you would be so kind )

Thank you so much, and sorry if this is too far outside the rules of this community :-/

I'm starting a new project and would like some feedback. I'll start by posting the first draft of my first chapter.

Title: "Fourteen Days"
Summary: Kaitlyn and Brooklyn are teens living in New York, and although situations are complicated, they have an innocent but intense attraction. Brooklyn may be the one who lives in his family's car, but Kaitlyn knows that they have equal places in life, because the world is cruel to both middle class white girls and homeless gang members; to those who don't sleep at night, and to those who close their eyes to the same nightmares every time.
Rating: PG-13, for now.

I decided to join this community to because I thought I could get some advice. But first I think it would be only fair to tell you a bit about myself. I'm a sixteen year old Canadian girl living in northern BC. I aspire to be a novelist and have started writing my first book. The problem is that I don't know any good references. I have one book called 'The Complete Handbook of Novel Writing' and it's helped but I would like a little more advice. If any of you can help whether it's with books, links to a website or even your own advice that would help. Just leave a comment that can help.

Subject:Google and God
Posted by:xensara.
Time:2:44 am.
You say you don’t know how to love
But I can teach you about such things
About a woman’s body and a mans purpose
When it comes to the insides of sheets
And the white sweaty outsides of skins
The very way smooth and slick hands slide
Across bellies and breasts and backs
Creating a new equation with spit
To prove that your numbers are nonsense
Unlike the wet in-betweens of hips
Don’t you know how pointless Google and God are,
Priests and zeros and worship and ones
Could never make you climax like I can
Do you remember our hips hitting together
How the thick pants of what wasn’t love
(But still full of wonderful ardor)
Kicked in our veins like the little babies
That was never born from our fucking
Our poor fetuses, killed by birth control and condoms
And coca cola and close hangers
Our sons and daughters
Our Mary’s and Paul’s
The children we could have pulled our from between my thighs
Cutting off the cord to my belly button
So that naked, wet crinkle of skin would be free
From the lack of love between your body and mine
That our consummation may be the messiah
Or the antichrist or Buddha, something great
Like a priest or Bill Gates
One who holds his frostbitten hands high
And warms the world with the love we don’t have
But would have saved us all just the same.

"Aside from the pink satin cloth that draped and met at the middle of the ceiling a hundred feet above, I, who wore black amongst a sea of white, am evidently MISPLACED. What makes me more misplaced is the pathetic fact that I am the only one wearing a dress made of satin. If I exist in a world with less conceited people, I wouldn't even take notice of that fact. Ritually I give myself a reality check. I happen to be the stepdaughter of the sister of a wife of a big-deal businessman who happens to be mutually in love with the media. And what's worst? Charmeuse had to be the 'in' cloth for today’s wedding. Not wearing it now, not having it cut above the knees or at least showing a little bit of cleavage, would be the least desirable situation to be in. And most obviously, I am wearing something that is not Charmeuse, not white, not short...enough and bears no cleavage in sight. Maybe I'll get extra points for wearing stunning gold Jimmy Choo sandals or maybe not. Either way, if I weren’t the sister of the bride I would have been kicked out of the cathedral seconds before I could set my ‘Jimmy Choo’-s on the red carpet. When I was younger my head would start spinning at moments like this, but I suppose that age is like a number that shows how much tolerance you have to how much slamming you get from the world because of the things it hates about you." --- "The Heaven of Zaria" a snippet of Chapter One.

I've decided to finally finish a novel that I have started. I've always had problems finishing stories that I write because I always search for motivation and I tend to not find one when I need it the most. :) I hope posting that would interest you to read it more, you can find it in my livejournal page http://heavenofzaria.livejournal.com Thanks :)
