Current mood: creative

the mystery is revealed.
this is why you should never leave me alone with a needle and thread for more than fifteen minutes.

for those curious this has taken me about 24 hours total to complete. the plush itself is pretty huge and fuzzy, made of fake fur. it's not the highest quality fake fur, but it'll do. the FUZZ WAS EVERYWHERE.

the scraps were all over the house during the process. i'm still finding fuzz on the floor. anyway. the thing with this fuzzy fabric is that fuzzy fabric can't be put through a sewing machine. why not? because the fur will get caught up in the mechanics and jam the thing. i dunno how many needles and machines furries must go through but seriously. the body of koji had to be hand-stitched. which was a pain in the aaaaaaasssssss

here's the 'skin' with two arms attached, which you woulda seen if you were voting. the skin here is basicly the backside of the nikitak and a rough idea of the head. that head was later scrapped and i decided to make a bigger one, as otherwise he would have had uhm. a really small head.

the body roughly made and positioned, but still no tail or head. kind of eerie.

without any joints stitched into place, the headless nikitak resembled a rather bizzare starfish.

the sitting body, with the in-progress tail in my hand. all the pieces are sewn inside-out. those who have not sewn before may ask, why is this? it's because it makes the stitching less noticable, and less visable. just a matter of aesthetics.

tail finished and attached, it helps hold a regal sitting position. what am i talking about.

lol i give u head lololol no really. the head itself was probably the hardest part, mostly because of the eyes. the fucking eyes. i had about fourteen ideas for how to attach googly eyes to fuzzy fabric and one after the other backfired. if i could do-over a part of this, it'd be the eyes. easily. fucking eyes. also althouigh he is stitched to subtly smile, it's impossiable to see. damn you llama head.

after the body itself was done i could move on to a THANK GOD faster method of stitching. this is also how i'll be doing project2. on the machine. the hat, since it is not fuzzy, can be done on the machine without a problem.

the fabric used for the cap. unfortunately i couldn't find anything just right in the fabric store, despite lots of searching, so i just gave up and got some random bits to make it. bleh. so it goes.

QUALITY ENTERTAINMENT IS REQUIRED FOR THIS PROJECT. actually in the process of making this i watched a dvd of lost, chicago, pirates of the carribean, carnival of souls, half of the ewok movie and a dvd and a half of .hack//dusk. i need background noise.

for scale, the finished nikitak. on bowser.

voila.

stay tuned for the next sewing project! BECAUSE I HAVE NOTHING ELSE TO DO WITH MY TIME! :D

ok question because now you have my curiosity going. :B i understand how you'd get the legs/tail/body sewn together without the seams sticking out by doing it inside out, but how do you get the head on without a seam around the neck?

basicly i fold the edge under, and do a kind of weird X like stitch where it goes like a shoelace. over/under. i can do an MS paint diagram if you dunno what i mean.

That's so hot. As a matter of *ahem* making more, you could always sell the basic pattern/rules. Anyone who's REALLY COMMITTED would go for it.

And despite the hat not being the perfect Ro Koji hat, it's still sexy.

as mentioned above somewhere, there IS no pattern. at least i think i mentioned that. anyway, i never use patterns. it was all done on the fly.

i'm kinda used to hand stitching fuzzy fabric, cause i like using it. ITS FUZZY. and it actually gave me less trouble than the crappy fabric used on the shirt. guh. FELT would have been less of a bitch...
