Hey folks, The Devil/Starbuck here. o/'
I know TiG's been a little dead lately, but there's some RP planned for this weekend that ![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) woolyfsh (House/Daniel/Garibaldi) and I are hoping to get started. Basically, we'll be doing some lead-up scenes today and tomorrow, and on Sunday, there'll be two different scenes going on that we need players around for! I promise it'll be interesting even if it won't be anything majorly fancy.
As many of you know, The Hippodrome in Middleton has been around for nearly a year now, and most of what goes on inside has been a matter of 'out of sight, out of mind.' The establishment makes no attempts to hide the fact that it serves primarily adult interests, offering mind-altering substances to 'enhance' experiences as well as escorts for people who show up without any interest in playing the seduction game. So far, it's enjoyed a relatively stable client base, even throughout the various disasters that have hit... but lately, there's been some unrest amongst the natives of the town concerning both the Hippodrome and the seedier aspects of the Fire District.
From the latest posting:
Temperance. A word that sends shivers down one's spine in either a 'good' way, or a 'bad' way. No one can be all that ambivalent about it.
The Temperance "Movement" has hit Middleton. Wives whisper the ideas of no more alcohol, no more drugs. To free oneself from the evils that plague Middleton, one must make sacrifices!!
Along the sides of the road, there are the occasional spots where bills are posted declaring the virtues of a clean life. Some of them have been defaced, certainly, and some ripped down and left blowing in the hot, dry winds that come through the city, but others have sparked some quiet debate (and not so quiet!) on the streets.
Now, with something behind them, the ladies of the "Movement" begin to canvas the city, offering their aid and support for those suffering under the burdens... in some cases a little more forcefully than what would normally be assumed...
Obviously, most characters in Middleton's city limits will have heard about this, or dealt with the NPCs involved in the group. Some of your characters might even be compelled to join in. What we're asking for here is for people to contact us for RP over the weekend if they're interested in what the group's all about (or want to see how the Hippodrome staff is handling it). If you want to say that your character has been confronted by a group member in an off-camera scene, you are more than welcome to. Otherwise, the main event is going to occur on Sunday of this weekend and more than likely, the reprecussions will extend through this upcoming week.
Again, I realize a lot of people have lost interest or wandered elsewhere, but we'd appreciate seeing you show up! If you're interested in RPing over the weekend, please contact my alt, Lyta (or page me as Starbuck), for a scene, as well as Garibaldi.

With the interest of injecting some fresh blood into the game and increasing our playerbase, I am proposing that we amend our Private/Invitation Only policy and make TIG a public game. Staff have already voted concerning the matter, but we would like to hear what you, the players, feel before we make any official decisions.

ETA: For the sake of clarity and to pre-emptively answer this particular question, the staff when discussing the matter amongst ourselves have already decided on the following.
Should the proposal be approved and put into action, we will begin on a temporary basis to evaluate how things go. This would be akin to how Alt Skips work, being for a set amount of time and then looked over to determined if it should be kept or abandoned.
We have also already decided that if it does go into effect, 1st time applications for Non-Invites would be more heavily scrutinized. That way, we can still weed out the rotten apples and allow new people to come to the game at the same time.
I hope this makes a bit more sense, for people that might have been wondering. |

Tomorrow morning, the machine that the game runs on is being swapped out for a newer, more delicious one. Therefore, the game will be down from about 8:45AM Eastern time until, if all goes well, about 9:45/10AM. I'll make a post here when it's back up.

(OOC: I didn't want to 'speechify' a whole room, so for all intents and purposes, this is to have happened on-camera, and anyone may assume that they were in attendance. Those that weren't in attendance certainly will have heard about it, and if not by word-of-mouth, then through the gobs of campaigning that the Petrelli organization is putting out, trying to make everyone in Middleton aware.)
A town meeting which doubled as a press conference was called jointly by the Petrelli Organization and the Healing Hand with little more than 24 hours advance notice. The speakers were Nathan Petrelli, the head spokesman for the Petrelli Organization, and Dr. Janet Fraiser, Middleton's judge and doctor at the Healing Hand, as well as Killdeer's Priestess. Also on the stage, showing his support, was Nathan's younger brother, Peter, known to Middleton's populace as the Fire Point Guard and also a nurse at the Healing Hand. Nathan takes the podium first, addressing the gathered crowd at large:
"My fellow citizens of Middleton,
"The time has come for the truth to come out. For months now a dangerous plague has been running rampant through our streets, unchecked by medical science, unrestrained by our police departments and unacknowledged by our politicians. Innocent people have fallen prey to acts of such terrible violence, propagated by victims themselves. A plague that changes people like you and me into monsters possessed with such horrific power that they can only satisfy themselves by consuming other people.
"Here's the good news: Dr. Janet Frasier has taken matters into her own hands and discovered a vaccine that can protect the uninfected populace from this contagion. I will let her explain her findings..."
(Janet takes the podium. She is nervous, apparently unaccustomed to public speaking.)
"Those who have shown no sign of the disease can be innoculated against it; the good news is that once you recieve the vaccine, you cannot contract the virus. Unfortunately, there are some side effect. Usually, they're mild, and involve the appearance of a faded Atma and the desire to consume raw meat. In about twenty percent of cases, the person innoculated transformed temporarily, though didn't exhibit any of the radical personality alteration that those with the disease displayed.
"Unfortunately, and very rarely, those who are innoculated may contract a full-blown case of the plague. This happens in approximately one percent of cases, and it is theorised that those with this side effect already had a dormant form of the virus, but the modified virus in our vaccine aggrivated it. We will have people standing by for those who fall under this category; you will know you are infected if the Atma that appears on your arm is dark black instead of grey. Don't panic. Conversely, approximately one percent of those vaccinated will have no side effects whatsoever."
(Once she is done, Nathan retakes her place.)
"For your convenience, immunization stations have been set up around the city. If you have not yet presented any symptoms of the disease, PLEASE come to the nearest station as soon as possible to receive your vaccine. The possible side effects may seem upsetting, but I promise you that the alternative is far, far worse. We will have security details and will coordinate with the Watch, if at all possible, to make sure that everyone's safety is kept to the highest priority.
"This town and its administration have idled too long in addressing this situation with the seriousness it deserved, and now it is up to us, my fellow citizens, to ensure the safety of ourselves, our neighbors and our children. If you have any kind of military or medical background, I implore you to volunteer at your district's station or at the Healing Hand. If you have none, you may also speak to the staff at the Petrelli Office in the Earth District about how else you can help protect our townsfolk.
"Finally, if you have been infected, I implore you to present yourself to the nearest station or at the Healing Hand as soon as possible. We have a vaccination; now a cure is only a matter of time. Together, with your help, we can find it."

Short list this time, but still a list...

We had a pretty small list. The ones considered on Probation are: Kairi, Kakashi, Lacus, Lelouch, Mitsuko, and Qui-Gon.
The ones on Probation will need to show a sign they intend to play their character, either by supplying a log, RPing with a staff member or by showing major interest in retaining their character. If someone gives a viable excuse on their behalf (in the middle of moving, computer problems, etc) then they will also be given an extension. This must happen before I do the final nuke, which can take upmost of 30-40 days, so don't worry about time crunch so much as genuine desire to keep the alt.
Again, this could take a while for me to nuke, but all these characters will be moved into my inventory as of August 9, where they will await nuking unless logged in and saved. |

The game's down. Went down around 8:30. We're working on it. There's apparently possibly maybe a thunderstorm where we keep our mastermind computer to take over the world server. As soon as we're done using the downtime to TAKE OVER THE WORLD, we'll let you know.
