Welcome to Pretentious Indie Hipsters

BASICS
This is both a discussion and rating community. The rating portion, however, is not the main purpose. This is a selective community where people come to talk about indie music, movies, and other parts of indie culture. Please note, indie does not mean "emo" or "scenester." We want people who think for themselves and enjoy the variety inherent in the indie world. Therefore, if you define yourself by your "scene" then don't bother joining. We want the people who make the scene, not people made by the scene.

So fill out the application, and feel free to add any other info you want to it. Anything so we can get a better idea of who you are! We aren't overly picky, and we don't judge solely based on looks.

WHAT WE DO
Other than the rating aspect, which everyone on LiveJournal enjoys, we talk about new music, new movies, shows we've been to, and share our own creations (art, photo, music). Some of us are in the inside of music, music journalism, or just know people who are, so you might just get to hear new things before other people. That by itself should be enough to join!

OUR MOTTO

We are in the process of launching a web site, indiehipsters.com. All members are invited to participate in the design process, as well as contributing as writers. Also, all members are offered @indiehipsters.com email addresses. We use Google Apps, so you'll get the GMail interface with over 2 GB of email storage.

RULES
These are pretty simple. When you join, fill out an application. Post it! Feel free to comment on your own application, but don't comment on other people's until we're done with yours.

For those who are members. Feel free to post about whatever you want. We would prefer if you made posts friends only so people have some reason to join and not just watch. We may start having some sort of monthly theme or something, but who knows.

When commenting on new applications. Remember, we are going for a strong community. Decide based more on their application and how you think they would contribute. Try not to be too rude, unless there's a reason. We don't want people to be complete assholes, unless you are
