What are your states "shame laws" ?

There's the typical name and picture in the paper/online directory by neighborhood for child molestation and sexual offenders.. I think i've even heard that if you move to a new neighborhood you have to knock on the doors and literally proclaim yourself.

In GA and in TN anyone who's doing community service for a DUI wears a special bright colored vest on the sides of the road picking up trash.

This is a new one they're trying to pass in TN now:
-------------------------
Kelsey (r), wants to take the time-tested tradition of shaming DUI offenders to a whole new level with a special license plate indicating their offense.

The plate would be yellow with the red letters “DUI OFFENDER” blaring to whomever might be tailgating the guilty party at the time. The bill smacks of the orange-vest "DUI Shame Law" passed a few years back.

But this one is more than just a couple of hours of embarrassment; offenders would have to keep the plate for at least a year. Not only making aware those driving around, but also any officers on duty, to call attention to these repeat offenders on the streets at odd hours.

I think it's fair to alert police of repeat offenders but I don't think it needs to be so blatant as "DUI OFFENDER"

This is true.

They recently passed a law here that states a police officer can pull you over for literally no reason what so ever if they feel fit. I forgot what they called the tact, but its supposed to help them catch random people for warrants and unpaid tickets, etc.

I live on probably the busiest street in my city, and its six lanes wide, and they will pull you over if you even act like you're going to go 31 mph.

what kind of 6 lane road has a 30 mph speed limit. I MEAN REALLY.

I think warning the public about people who tend to drive drunk is a better idea than warning them about sex offenders in their neighborhood, but like you said, they can just drive a different car, so what's the point?

in oklahoma registered sex offenders have "registered sex offender" stamped on their driver's license THREE TIMES!

imagine going to a bar and showing your ID and they see that. fuck man everyone would look down on them so bad but rightly so.

some sex offender things bother me, because ive been witness to cases where it was not even remotely anything that should be stamped on them for life.

but i suppose its just a risk the government cant be willing to take by selecting who is and isnt actually perverted.

I couldnt imagine being that guy who just dated a younger girl and somehow got in trouble for it, and FOR LIFE being known as a pervert.. and to have to show it in bars, and then the bartender knows, god only knows what the bartender would say to any girl you attempted to talk to.

my city's newspaper decided to publicly shame prostitutes and make sure they'll have a hard time getting legit jobs by publishing their faces, name, and age.

thats something else i find amusing,
they are going to these extremes for DUI punishment,

but there is a known prostitue ring at a strip club here in town, and they keep slapping the girls on the wrist and putting them in jail for two weeks or something, knowing the owner of the strip club has the money to bail them out and will, and then the girls go back, get their jobs back, and continue doing the same thing... how many times can you slap someone on the wrist for a crime that is considered a top offense?

anytime someone gets arrested for prostitution it kind of flys under the radar here in nashville, because apparently we used to have one of the highest counts of brothels in the east coast, and just within the past few years (maybe 6) they have weeded the majority of it out.

ironically post clean up, the city lost 70% of their conventions.

hmm.

if it even has a slight effect on decreasing the number of alcohol related car accidents, i guess i don't have a problem with this. i don't feel pity for drunk drivers but there are always those weird situations where someone was just in their car and a cop felt like being a dick.
