About

in_treatment is a moderated community for women who are in treatment for psychological/psychiatric problems and are looking for some support online. I have been running this community for over 6 years now and still going strong!

Even if you "only" take meds and are not in therapy/hospital programs etc. you are still welcome to join.

IMPORTANT - ABOUT MEMBERSHIP

To join the community there are 2 steps:

Fill out the membership application form here.

Then go straight to this page to request membership approval. Without this part, I won't be able to allow you posting access.

I appreciate that some people might feel that the questions asked in the form are highly personal so if you would rather email me the form so that your details are not publicly displayed then you can email me the form instead.

If you have been declined membership then I will let you know; otherwise assume you will be added within roughly 1 day :)

ABOUT POSTING

Members can use this community to vent, ask questions, offer advice and support, share experiences etc. You are more than welcome to turn to this community rather than engaging in self-destructive behaviours. Any grossly off topic posts/links/spam will be deleted.

We are all here to support you and listen to what you're going through, and hopefully to offer some empathy and advice. If you are considering suicide or feeling particularly unusual, please take responsibility and contact your local psychiatric services/health care workers. This community can only support you; some situations require immediate, professional care.

For your privacy, you may choose to post with a 'friends only' security level at any time: this will ensure that only other members will be able to view your post. I am not always able to keep up with every post on this community so please email me if you have any trouble with other members etc.

DISCLAIMER:

in_treatment is for women only because having spent a 1 year+ in a mixed day patient environment I found that a single sex environment was much more supportive. For example, girls with depression and guys with depression often have different issues and do not relate to each other as well. I also know that many of the women here value the space to discuss certain topics in an all-girls forum. I hope you understand, guys!
