| Hello everyone. You might have noticed that I have been less than regular in updating this icon journal. I got a full-time job in late July, and between that and other life stuff, my icon-making has fallen to the wayside. I still occasionally find time to make icons, but never enough and never of a quality that I want to share here.
I'm not going to delete the community right away. I don't even know if I will completely delete it, ever. I just know I will no longer be updating here with icons. If you really like my icons, and want to see them whenever I get around to posting, feel free to stop by my personal journal, grass_stained.
If someone is browsing by and wants to join the community to see the locked posts, I will still accept members. Thank you all for supporting me! | comments: 4 comments or Leave a comment |
| All of these icons are for sharing, just let me know which ones you're taking. HOWEVER, I would like credit for any of them, and no hotlinking! If you requested an icon before the deadline and do not see it here, yell at me -- either I forgot to make it, or I screwed up with the coding.

Sorry again for taking so long! | comments: 72 comments or Leave a comment |
| Thank you to everyone who supplied a request. I'm having a lot of fun working on them.
I've finished roughly half, and I'm really pleased with the way they've turned out so far. I'm hoping to finish the rest of them this week. However, I'm in the process of starting a new job and moving to another city, so it could take me a little while longer than I'd like. Feel free to keep pestering me. I'll be sure to post as soon as they are all done. | comments: 8 comments or Leave a comment |
| | Just so you all know, as of this Friday, July 9th, I will no longer be taking requests. So if you have an icon you want me to make, you'd better let me know. Don't forget, it's members only. | comments: 23 comments or Leave a comment |
| I've been in a serious rut and haven't been making many icons at all, which explains the two month accidental hiatus. Sorry about that. But there is still some interest in the community and in my icons, apparently because people keep asking to be added. That makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.
I'll post the few icons I have been working on in this post, and then I'm going to make another, friends-only post in which you can request icons. Hopefully that will spark some creativity in me.
( icons ) + brushes are by a variety of people. If you recognize one of your brushes and want credit, please yell at me, so I can do so. + Take, don't ask. No hotlinking. I have enough bandwidth issues as it is. + If you choose to use one, credit is required. Please either put "impetus_icons" in the keyword (preferred method), or something (like a button) in the userinfo. + Comments and suggestions are most welcome! + Unless posted here as part of a set, my personal icons are not for sharing. | comments: 49 comments or Leave a comment |
| Okay, apparently some people didn't understand what I was ranting about in the last post. I've had a lot of people commenting, asking to join the community. That's all well and good, except I can't do anything about it. I appreciate the comments asking to join, but when I remind people that they have to click the join community link in the userinfo, they apparently don't understand that part. So here it is.
Join this community! Join this community! Join this community!
I do still ask that you leave a comment letting me know, and I am still going to check to see that you credit. But I cannot add you to the community. You have to click that link yourself. | comments: 15 comments or Leave a comment |
| First, a rant. I hate it. I understand that some people were being bombarded with unsolicited Join Community emails, but I only received one or two, and mostly for communities I was initially interested in. I never sent anyone invites who didn't first express an interest in the community, either in response to one of the public posts or to my own journal - and if you feel I am wrong, feel free to disagree. But now I'm being punished and have to take this much longer route to add people because a few people whined and moaned about it. There has to be some kind of middle ground, but it doesn't seem the Livejournal team is even considering it, which saddens me.
Now, some guidelines. Sure, go ahead and click the join community button if you want. I would still appreciate it if you'd leave a comment, just to let me know you're interested in joining. Due to the rash of "Proud Icon Stealers," having complete strangers signing up to join my community isn't very comforting. And I realize that just leaving a comment doesn't make you my best friend or vice versa, but it's still courtesy. Also, you'd better make sure that you're showing me some form of crediting icons, because I'm not just accepting people wilynily. I'm still going to check your userpics to see if you're crediting people, and if you don't, I'm checking your userinfo to see if you credit people there. Even if you make your own icons, I need to know that you're not going to just steal mine and claim them as your own -- again, another use of the comment feature popping it's head up for a howdy-do. Crediting is and has been a rule of this community since before it was a community, and that's not likely to change.
To reiterate -- -- Please leave a comment if you're going to apply for membership. -- Give me proof that you'll credit.
I don't really think this is too much to ask. | comments: 52 comments or Leave a comment |
| But it apparently is called for.
I found another person hotlinking my icons. There are two major problems this time, though.
1. They're Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragons icons. Which were only visible two places -- here, as a protected entry, or at midclass_icons. Which means that, odds are, this person has a livejournal and is a member of this community.
2. Not two days ago, I received an email from Photobucket saying I'd gone over my montly alloted free bandwidth. Which means I'm not highly irritated that whoever this person is stole my bandwidth, because I didn't pay for it. What it does mean, though is that I can't upload and share any more icons until the bandwidth resets. And I don't know when that will be. It also means that if hotlinking continues, Photobucket will disable direct linking from that account, which means none of you get more icons from me. Because I'm not going to go setting up various Photobucket accounts so more people can hotlink.
If you or someone you know is hotlinking icons, from me or anyone else, please please please, sign up for a Photobucket account or suggest the same to them. Photobucket is so free they might as well stand on a street corner and hand out accounts. It takes maybe five minutes tops to set up an account, and then BAM! you can just direct link from your own account to your little heart's content.
If you're someone hotlinking my icons and are pissed because I'm not posting more icons, remember -- you brought this iconless post on yourself.
EDIT The post containing the Keira Knightley and JRM icons has been friends-protected, to hopefully cut down on some of the bandwidth problem. Sorry to all of you who aren't members. | comments: 32 comments or Leave a comment |
| I am working on new icons, including Breakfast Club, Ever After, and some Wonderfalls, I just haven't enough yet to post. :)
I'm writing to let you know of a new community I started, called icon_rec. The entire point of that community is to post icon sets that you want to recommend (simple, yes?). The only strict rule I ask is that posters don't share the icons themselves, but links to icon sets. There's more details in the userinfo.
So if you're interested in sharing fabulous icons and finding out about new icon-makers, please join! and tell your friends. :) | comments: 21 comments or Leave a comment |
