Just wondering if anyone would like to beta read my fanfic. Ya know, someone to fix grammar and other kinds of mistakes and maybe offer some suggestions for plot? I would honestly prefer someone who has experience writing fanfics. Sooo yeah, post comments if you are up to it!

<lj-cut text="Not Now, Not Ever">

It was a typical London night which, in all honestly, pissed Luce the hell off. It was a long walk from her flower shop to her flat, and it currently felt like she was walking through an iceberg. The idea of her warm, cozy flat, and the other occupant of it, was the only thing making her walk through this frozen hell.

Luce instantly blushed and felt her body warm itself a little at the mere thought of Rachel, the woman she had undeniably fallen head over heels for just a few months ago. If someone had told Luce when she was little that she would find “the one” in the form of a woman, she would have called them crazy and ran way as far as possible. Then again, it would have depended on when they told her: when she was sure of her orientation, or when she had no bloody idea.

Luce had accepted long ago that she was gay. Long enough that she could tell people straight up her orientation and not care really what their reaction would be, hence why she didn’t hesitate to tell Heck about herself when she did. She was who she was and nothing short of divine influence could change that.

This didn’t stop her from having quite a number of failed relationships, most of them being women who thought they were gay, but came to realize that they weren’t. For a long time Luce felt like a guinea pig, someone people could experiment on to find out things about themselves, and then throw away when they were done. After awhile Luce’s heart went into a sort of coma. During that time she did nothing but run her flower shop and take care of her mother. Her only friend, her only companion, was Edie. Edie was always there for her, and eventually coaxed her out of her comatose state. Edie made Luce feel again, though not in a romantic sense. The blonde made her laugh again and taught her not to let life get her down, and to give everything a chance. Luce felt alive again, though her heart still felt the lingering pain of her past relationships. However, she gave in to Edie and let life have another round at her.

And then the wedding happened.

Luce couldn’t, wouldn’t ever forget that day. She had heard about love at first sight, and believed it to be bullocks. In complete honestly, she still believed that it didn’t exist. What she did believe in though, was that you could connect with someone, the very moment your eyes met; and that was exactly what happened the second she laid eyes on Rachel. The connection that was made was a basis for their love to develop. The rest was up to fate.

Luce smiled as she neared her flat. She could see the lights on, and instinct told her Rachel was cooking dinner inside. Considering she hadn’t eaten since breakfast because of the busy day, Luce couldn’t open the door fast enough.

The moment Luce stepped through the doorway, she felt warm air and the smell of cooking rush at her. She sighed in content as she shut and locked the door behind her. She hung up her keys and jacket and walked towards the small kitchen across from the entryway. Luce’s flat was several steps down from Rachel’s old flat with Heck, but she never once complained. In fact, Rachel had expressed her fondness of the small place, though Luce couldn’t help but feel like she could do more for her.

As soon as Luce entered the kitchen, her eyes instantly sought Rachel, who was currently setting up two plates that looked like the entire food pyramid was piled on both. Luce silently snuck up behind Rachel and wrapped her arms around her waste. She felt Rachel instantly relax and rest her warm hands (as result of her cooking) on top Luce’s own.

“I didn’t hear you come in,” Rachel whispered. “I was hoping I could have everything ready for you before you got home.” Luce grinned while gently swaying both her and Rachel. “It’s a bloody iceberg outside and I couldn’t get here fast enough to see you. Today was hell.”

Rachel detached herself from Luce’s arms and turned around to face her. “What happened?” Luce chuckled and grabbed Rachel’s hand, wrapping their fingers together.

“Let’s just say if we go to hell and there are flowers, the devil bought them from my shop.”

Rachel laughed. “Well, I made dinner, so forget about your bad day and eat!” With that, Rachel pulled out a seat and stood behind expectantly, waiting for Luce to take a seat. Luce obliged and Rachel proceeded to sit down in the seat next to her. They ate comfortably and talked about each others day. Luce felt the stress from the day ebb away and felt the subtle feeling of content settle in her stomach. No matter what was wrong, she could always count on Rachel to be there for her and to make it all go away.

As soon as they finished their meal, Rachel proceeded to clean up the kitchen area while Luce put away any leftovers. They worked in sync, neither having to ask the other for assistance. They had a comfortable routine, and so far, there were no problems with it.

“Your mum called today. She wants us to have dinner with her on Sunday,” Rachel announced suddenly, stopping for a second. Luce looked up from picking up fallen particles of food from dinner from the floor.

“Well that should be fun, shouldn’t it? We might even get to see this man she’s been seeing for quite awhile now,” Luce stated affirmed, keeping her eyes on Luce while completing her task of cleaning the floor.

Rachel sighed and leaned against the kitchen counter and crossed her arms over her chest. “It should, except I keep getting the impression that she doesn’t approve of me. I mean, everything seemed fine a few months ago, but now I feel like I’ve done something wrong and now your mum hates me for it.”

Luce stood up straight finally, looking at Rachel with a serious look, thinking about what she should say. Rachel was right, and Luce had noticed it too.

“Rach…It isn’t you who is doing anything wrong. I don’t think I ever told you, but I’ve never had a real relationship before you. I don’t know why, but I seem to be a magnet for straight women,” Luce said, the last part accompanied by a small chuckle. When she heard no response from Rach, she cleared her throat and continued, “My past relationships, even through you can’t really call them that, always ended with them realizing that they weren’t gay. They were all women with fantasies, and I was the constant variable in their experiment, and you know what happens when an experiment fails…” Luce dropped her gaze and looked dejectedly at the floor she had just cleaned.

Rachel frowned and walked closer to Luce. She put her hand on Luce’s cheek and forced Luce to look at her. She let her thumb rub Luce’s cheek in small circles. “I love you Luce. What we have isn’t the result of some experiment. What we have is real, and I’m not leaving you. Why can’t your mum see that?” Rachel inquired her tone completely serious. Luce smiled at Rachel’s small confession and placed her hand over Rachel’s.

“Whenever the relationship ended, I would always end up at my mum’s doorstep hysterical. My mum couldn’t stand to see me in so much pain. I think she might be suspicious that you just may up and do the same as the others, except this time, I might not ever get over it. My dad left us when I was little, and even though my mum is over it, it took quite a chunk out of my mum’s faith in humanity.” Luce ended her speech finally, locking her eyes with Rachel, waiting for a response.

Rachel rested her forehead against Luce’s.

“I’m not leaving you. Not now, not ever. This isn’t an experiment or some random attraction. I love you, and nothing, not even death, can change that. I’m Rachel in love with Luce. What do I have to do to convince your mum that none of this is bullocks?”

Luce’s smile became wider at Rachel’s response. She saw the complete sincerity in her tone and eyes, and it made her fall in love with her even more. She turned her head slightly and kissed Rachel full on the lips. Rachel responded with fervor, wanted to hold onto it for as long as possible. Eventually they pulled apart, going back o their initial position with their foreheads touching.

“She’ll understand. Just give her some time to realize that for herself. My mum has always supported, and I know she’ll come around again and support the both of us. I mean honestly, if your mum can come around and not be a twat, my mum is more than capable of it as well!” Both of them laughed, enjoying the moment. “Let’s go to bed,” Luce whispered. She felt Rachel nod in agreement and they pulled apart and walked to their bedroom. They did their normal bedtime routine before getting in bed together. Luce turned the light off and cuddled up to Rachel, resting her head in the crook of her neck.

“I love you Rach.”

“I love you too Luce.”

They both smiled before falling to sleep in each other’s arms.

Ok, I'm wanting to post a fanfic I wrote a long time ago but never had the guts to post until now. How do I make it just the link instead of posting the entire fanfic on the front page and using up all that space? Any help would be awesome! Thanks.
